Just tried one of these out today in person and I have to say, not bad!! Lovely action and feel. Seems to have a decent array of sounds and the built in speakers are impressive for the size / weight. The only putoff for me is the menu diving aspects. But hey that's the digital age for ya!! It seems like once it's set up it would be a very nice board for the money.
Thank you for taking the time to create and post another great video from Andertons, always a useful reference. I have been keen to hear it. Looks like it will answer my needs of a lighter weight Piano come synth for use with a rock covers band and also an acoustic group 2 differing needs I had an RD800 ..great kit just just too damn heavy to regularly haul in an out, as we are amateurs we don't have roadies so this will be great. + I can use it with my PC for other virtual instruments etc. Great video, seen far too many where the video is more about the presenter than the kit. Thanks again and may normality come back soon.
This is a great instrument! Requires some tweaking out of the box, but really delivers on so many levels on the gig. BTW... Great demos Jack, keep 'em comin!
I really dig how Roland packs their stage pianos full of synth tones. Some players want the weighted keys and simplicity of a stage p. but still need to, ya know, gig out? 😆 I dig how this can be a simple all-in-one solution.
Jack you're a bloody champion and a phenomenal player with such a wicked sense of muso humour. How is this instrument for pseudo mimicking of Hammond sounds using the controller knobs?
Still no published sound list on Roland’s website? Or am I wrong? If they’ve got the MKS20 sound set used on the RD2000 then I’d be interested - that’s what will will cut through the mix on stage. The audience won’t care a toss about the kind of stuff that Nordies are fixated by. Shame it doesn’t run on batteries like the Juno DS - opportunity lost for busking and outdoor events post lockdown .......in a few years😉
Not sure why… But I really don’t like this bored! LOL it could just be the way it sounds over RUclips. I’ll definitely try one in person one day just for curiosity sake…
Great playing. Can any sound from the Fantom be put into this. The Fantom organs are pretty good, the Fantom Pipe organ is quite convincing from memory.
Roland should really release streamlined version and called it RD61. I really want a portable keyboard with speakers that is as loud as an Acoustic Guitar.
Roland used to make the RD-64, it can still be found second hand. Unfortunately they had all their buttons on a panel located on the left side, so they were just as long as a 73 key instrument like the Yamaha P121. I wish more companies would release 61 and 73 keyboards with weighted keys though.
I appreciate you guys in making this video. But this is a little disappointing for me. Well maybe because I'm waiting for the further explanation in integration with Mainstage. But I think this video is off target. A little suggestions for you guys. In this "Playing Only!" kind of video, I think people expect a little sound tweaking while noodling. In the few past "Playing only!" Series, there is tweaking of the sound live. But this? Almost like the "First x Preset Patch" series... But it's not? There's only a bit layering demo in the last minutes. Also in the previous RD88 video stated that this is just like Roland's flagship stage piano but in smaller, more compact format. So I don't think people expect any huge sound difference. Or, is there any new sound in this new RD that you can show? Thats why I think it's off target. People don't get what they expected Anyway, thats just my opinion. You guys are doing great. I'm a big fan of jack lol. Waiting for the deep dive in Mainstage integration. Thank you, peace and love.

The Best Rd 88! I love mine
Best "how to play piano" videos on all of RUclips
Jack is really good. :)

Some very nice playing.
You can't beat that Roland sound
Jack you're a bloody champion and a phenomenal player with such a wicked sense of muso humour. How is this instrument for pseudo mimicking of Hammond sounds using the controller knobs?
Sounds pretty much like my RD-800, but a lot cheaper, lighter, and with ZenCore synthesis for better VA sounds.👍
Agreed. I own both, and yes--almost.
I could listen to Jack play for hours. And it's that TayTay???
Roland RD 88 vs Yamaha mx88
Which one is good?

I was dreaming of the past...
Hold the Line...
Thank You!

smooth sound transition? or do sounds cut off from patch to patch??
They do not.
yamaha modx8 or roland rd 88, teacher, please?
Great playing. Can any sound from the Fantom be put into this. The Fantom organs are pretty good, the Fantom Pipe organ is quite convincing from memory.
Yes,both use the zen core engine. Make a tone on Jupiter X/XM, Fantom and load it into the RD. Nice.
After a few second in this vid I realized I was Rick-Rolled visually
Yep.
im a jealous guy that he has all these toys...nice one kid!
We've got Jack, we've got Roland but no Remie - Sad times indeed!
Make a video on actions of digital pianos.
This or Yamaha MX 88?
The EP's sound really compressed :/

It has some great sounds but I'm having difficulty navigating the menu screen. It's a chore.
Man you got it!
RD700NX is still the best
agree
sorry but your roland rd 88 it dosnt sound like the original rd 88 🤔
?

İ didnt like voices like old old piano
sounds like a dead duck!
Those AP's are sad. EP's range from "barely gigworthy" to "laughable". Bad mid-90's flashback.
Synth Singer - the best jazz player I ever knew played an Ensoniq SDP-1 and knocked my socks off with it.
@@xp50player Therefore ..?
@@ChrisP3000x meaning it's based on the player not just the board.
@@thisjustin77 What do you mean by "it's"?
I dont think the piano samples sound good at all. like a cheap 2005 keyboard. But, the synths are very cool
Hmm. Probably best to learn how to edit patches and scenes. You can get to a place you enjoy then.
The Roland RD series are known for their rich and natural sounding pianos but the rd 88 sounds really cheap and dead.
Go get a Casio
@Warren Roberts good for you😊
@@kA-gk8ub yes, there are also way better sounding casio at this price points...
@@davebaite9115 Roland RD88 vs Yamaha mx 88.
Which one is good
The sound of pianos is very poor..No harmonics....I think its comun in all last instruments....
?
garbage
HILARIOUS if Behringer sued Roland for using "RD-8" in the name ;)
Roland already has an RD-800. So i think they are fine.
Roland has been making RD pianos since 1986. Not sure what is "hilarious".
