      Put a couple hundred miles on the vrod yesterday
      Nothing like doing 90 at 6g rpm dropping a couple gears rev out to 9.5g and spin the rear as you climb to over 150 mph in a few seconds

    for me it was copper contact inside the solenoid. they just get so pitted that they won't pass enough current. a less expensive repair than the entire unit. those 7/16" socket heads are a bitch. i replaced mine with allen head bolts, easier to get an extended allen socket back there. also, it's very easy to cross thread those suckers

    yes, happened to me multiple times. Replaced it exactly like you did. Is that a BDL or Gates belt. My BDL belt snapped on me. My 93" shovelhead has some torque. I put a Primo Rivera clutch in her. Is that an FXE?

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo  20 дней назад

      Not sure on the belt, I'm thinking it;s BDL. Big torque often brings it's own set of problems in the drive train. Thanks for commenting.

    @edZILLA64 25 дней назад

    Great video, Ralph! I like that Primary cover piece you made. I may have to make me one. Is that a BDL belt drive. My 83 has a BDL, but mine has a belt tensioner.

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo  24 дня назад

      They are really handy Ed as you can get a good look inside at what is going on when you crank her over. Make one and you will be surprized how much you will use it. I do believe it is a BDL drive. The early ones did have the tensioner as I recall. Thanks for commenting Ed.

    I thought when this video started, I would finally understand what a Bendix drive did. Okay I got that. But what is the part that you replaced? It doesn't look like a part that would wear?

      @MrAmartin8 24 дня назад

      @@itsmytimeletsgo Ya I kinda thought that when you removed the basket and hub together . I also added the Tamer unit in there as well . Harley never made clutch unit for the shovel ...

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo  22 дня назад

      Ran some Tamer's in the early years as well. I think we all tried everything we could to get a better clutch. Thanks for commenting.

I have a bad back from stuff I did in the early years, new bikes are to heavy, and the trike lets me ride all day. Had one back in the early 80's as well and really enjoy them.
