    Thanks for the nice honest review. Another common thing that often causes a motor to cut out is a mis-adjusted brake cutoff switch. If the bike has a brake light function you can tell by simply checking to see if the brake light is on while the motor is cut out. Often "snapping" the brake lever will get you back in service but proper adjustment is the permanent cure. The throttle cut out adjustments are generally under the brake levers.

    I bought this GS9 bike a month ago, and during the hot days of August, the same overheating issue with the controller (error 26 on the display) occurred when going uphill. Additionally, there was clearly a rattling noise inside the frame. After watching a video about replacing the controller (ruclips.net/video/ciU2Hlid0l8/видео.html), I came to the conclusion that I needed to thermally connect the controller housing with the frame housing. So, I simply unscrewed two small screws with the cable cover on the frame and inserted a lot of aluminum foil through the hole next to the cables. This sealed the controller, which was loosely placed in the frame. Alternatively, you could probably use a steel mesh for dish scrubbing instead of foil. The overheating problem disappeared because the entire frame now acts as a radiator, and additionally, there is no more noise on bumps. The whole repair took 15 minutes and cost 5 cents.

    Thanks for the review, I'm glad I found it. I was thinking of getting one. Well, not anymore. For lite trails, it'd probably be okay, but the front tire coming loose is a No Go!

    I have a Paselec GS9 and experienced controller failure early on. Same behavior as you saw...it would intermittently cut out. Paselec shipped me a new controller but did not pay the $175 labor cost. After almost two years the new controller is still working fine.

    • @watchmanonthewall14
      @watchmanonthewall14 Год назад +1

      @@Zach-s5g It's only a 500 W motor. It's under powered for hills. Needs at least 750 W. I have a SINGLE GEAR 750 W hub motor that weighs virtually the same as the bike in the video and also has 3 inch wide tires. I rip bust up short, steep hills, sometimes not even putting it into its highest pedal assist. I do not consider my bike to be a climber, compared to the best climbers, but the bigger motor does the job, where the 500 W motor just isn't enough.

    This used to happen to a hyper emtb I quickly returned. Kept turning off during hill climbs, even when I was pedaling. Must have been too much for the motor or controller.

      the hyper is nice aside from the suspension and battery.
      its about the same size batt as my metakoo which gets stupid range, even climbing mountain dirt trails to the beach and back, but idk how the watt usage in PA1 on the hyper, may be comparable. probably maxxes out higher.
      to the beach and back 35.8 miles with 3 bars left on this cheap ass metakoo. the hyper mid states 20 max but Id bet it can do more than that.
      i was considering the hyper 29 for integrated looks when i got the metakoo but the throttle, bigger batt, display, 350w bafang, and 3x chainring sold me over the hyper.
      people knock the 3x these days but on a 50lb ebike, its good to have as you can only get so many gears on rear with a motor.

    • @bindingcurve
      @bindingcurve Год назад

      @@TheFreshPeddler hyper makes a $1500 mid drive full suspension mountain bike. It is about the same price as the one In the video, but a much better more capable MOUNTAIN bike. Not being a bike snob, but a triple crank is probably not the best idea on a price spec bike.

    Either a hot controller or motor OR a battery that doesn't provide what it should (IMO).

  • @jeffster7

    For trail riding, you really want your phone in the center of the handlebars where you can see it as you take a fork Right, Left and Right. Right?
    Can't move the display on this bike, have to add an external display now. Looks like not much travel in that frame; but might be better than nothing.. eMTB by all rights, should be a mid-drive, not a Hub Drive, and it should have a torque sensor, not a cadence sensor on the motor.
    I had a cheap eMTB, and it was mid-drive with Cadence (Bafang BBS02B motor), and that was a drag on trails, not very accurate tracking but if it's got a thumb throttle, it does help.. NOT IDEAL. It was much faster than this hub drive.
    $2500 is about the cheapest I've seen for new mid-drive eMTB worth owning, with a mid-drive torque sensor motor.
    The big drag, is most eMTB do not come with a throttle, and I really like a throttle on an eMTB, because you want to start off, up hills right?? Look at the Luna Z1, X1, and X2 (X2.5 too).

  • @TheFreshPeddler
    @TheFreshPeddler Год назад +1

    Do you have an ebike or three delivered every day?
    good to see + tires and not fat for a change.
    IDK how I feel about an integrated display but damn if it doesnt look cool.
    too bad, its a nice bike but pretty useless if it cant get up a hill without shutting off.
    I can climb my way over the mountain trails to the beach and back from the west end of the valley, 35ish miles on a cheap ass 350w metakoo, even taking the really steep routes and not shut off or overheated once on me. Did 35.8 miles on this route to gladstones and back with some backtracking other day and got home with 3 battery bars of 5 left. might of had 4 without the backtracking. ok I did ride 3.7 miles to mulholland dirt without any power including a long climb but I dont need to.
    I am 150+lbs, the bike has 3x chainring, and use PA 1 mostly on long rides though. even the crazy street slopes around here I dont worry about going up, just down if I have to drag brakes rather than bomb it without using brakes. many people cant even fathom how steep the residential streets get around here.
    Always had my eye on the paselecs but id fear having to push this thing up climbs .
    hopefully they can sort out the issues.

    When the bike is over heating, go down hill, not really rocket science...The BMS temp protection on this bike might be a problem, because the battery gets no air in that frame...To recommend this bike in any circumstances shows dishonesty and salesmanship...It's more important to keep getting bikes to review than if your subscribers get ripped off..That is not rocket science either..

      In the market for an Electric fat tire bike, I watched the review and listened to what he said. He was honest and objective and reviews all bikes similarly. The claim on any dishonesty to get free merch and rip off viewers came from you. Anyone looking to buy a bike like this needs to see the good the bad and the ugly. He has never told anyone they should go buy "THIS" bike. This is a YT channel. Someone sounds like they just have an ax to grind.

It's an outstanding bike that needs lots of maintenance and upgrades to get the most out of it. I beat the crap out of it. Just did a twenty five miler at dusk. What a great romp.
