  • I can't believe March is already here. Birds are singing, trees are blooming, and I'm still trying to find my seed-starting gear. OOPS. No worries. In this video, I'll share some of what is and what is NOT growing around the meadow and at the end I'll share what I plan to do about it.

    About Michelle In The Meadow
I'm growing on a 1/4 acre suburban lot. I started gardening here 4 years ago and am glad you are here.
We have more than 80 individual fruit trees and shrubs and more than a dozen different kinds of annuals growing on this property. The slopes make for some interesting ways to garden, but we're trying to make the best of it.
On the first Sunday evening of each month (7PM Eastern), I go live on RUclips sharing updates and answering your questions.
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing to follow along on all the happenings in my Northeast Florida Zone 9A Garden. Until next time, my friends, remember to drink plenty of water, wear high-quality sunscreen and have a fantastic day.

Needed this so much. OUr lives were turned upside down for a few weeks in jan/feb and i feel like i'm so far behind and overwhelmed. finally told myself that if i commit to putting on 2 things in the ground every day (seeds, starts, transplants) then i'll have 60 plants in the ground in 30 days. it's the thing that keeps me going! Sometimes life just gets in the way~

And you inspired me today. I had just a few hours to spare, so I went and used them in the garden on projects that just need to get done. Thank you!

Things are looking pretty good in the meadow. I'm a bit behind on seed starting also. I figure as long as I have a garden, it's all good. Stay safe, take care, and happy growing.

I’ve been thinking about you, so good to get an update Michelle. Everything is looking lovely as it begins to come back ❤
I can relate to being behind schedule and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I got some starts butdirect sowed carrots, plus trimmed everything in the yard and then we got a late frost. Have had some off an on rain since then, so there’s still a huge pile of stuff to run through the shredder. Thanks for reminding us to stop and smell the 🌹

Thank you so much! You are very welcome. I will get it done, eventually, but not quickly. Happy Gardening - good luck with that late frost :)

Michelle, From the quick shot of the purple flowered plant, I do think it is a Spider-wort. Or as I always thought it was, cow slobbers. Thank you for the tour.

Life happens Michele. Attitude is what YOU decide it will be.
I'm not really behind on seed starting since I plan a light summer garden but the "winter" garden is still taking up most of the space. But Spring has sprung and I'll be clearing some space soon.

Honeysuckle or hummingbird vine is so hard to remove once it is established- just a warning😊

Thank you. I'm thinking about digging it up and transplanting it. I appreciate your input.

You could just out the mulch on top of the weed fabric? Double weed protection!

    • @michelleinthemeadow
      @michelleinthemeadow  5 месяцев назад +1

Possible. I'll think about that. It's really mucky and slippery after the rain, when you walk on them.

i ordered some starts cus my backyard is still a mess -- going to plant them this week in my raised beds -- i also want to get ride of the weed fabric on the ground and just go back to the gravel - it was not put down right so it is fraying and the burmuda is creeping in -- so i guess i will shot more for a fall garden and just grow some peppers and tomatoes plus a few herbs!!!

For sure, on fall. We will grow what we can. I liked the fabric, but after a few years and heavy Rains it's so mucky.

I am so jealous of your frost free days! My average last frost is around the 20th of April. I had to bring in some tomato seedlings tonight because it's supposed to get into the low 30s tonight 😢

I think I remember a video you did awhile back comparing raised beds. What that you? I will be getting a late start this year, and will have to buy some plants too. #teamhotmessgardening

Welcome to the channel! Yes, about two years ago, I did a series of birdies versus vego beds. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

NO SHAME in buying your starts! Do what you can to fill your garden. Even with the price of plant starts, they will produce enough food to pay for themselves! The porch looks great! Woohooo for asian wing beans!
