This is true. The NCERT syllabus should regularly be updated to reflect the changing realities of our economy as a whole; whether at the Policy Level or the implementation level.
I guess more importantly it hasn't been updated for school children who need to study post-globalisation issues relevant today. Aspirants are a relatively small subset
Since the original comment shared a viewpoint from the UPSC perspective; I was referring to that. Needless to say, school students remain the largest part of the NCERT target base.
I did not understand the ladies point. She tried to make too many points which was neither here nor there. When she says that iits cater only to us/western economies, it is completely false. 99% of the projects IIT facilities undertake, are from Indian agencies. If you want to create world class institute, give them autonomy, push them to excel in terms of teaching, research by hiring quality faculties irrespective of origin of country. Universities should be made free from political interference and they should be the learning ground for all and sundry. Also the universities should be proactive in hiring good quality, motivated faculties from all fields.
Bribery and nepotism in state universities appointment right from the peon up to the Vice Chancellor level. Nobody seems to have flagged this issue, Prof. Just mentioned it tangentially
I think mr jadhav made a point of 3 tier cluster, seperating each like research, professional courses, others which is itself discriminatory , why we shouldn't club above into each course at all levels.
I would like to respectfully disagree with the M.P for standing tough on autonomy. Although I agree that there are lots of pitfalls in the present system but our basic aim should be fixing the drawbacks and not jump the ship. The jnu V.C I think, was very right in saying that the universities are not actually utilizing the autonomy they have to reach its maximum potential.
Pune university has a worst curricula, Mr. Jadhav. It is one of the worst universities of the India. Too much bureaucratic and technocratic. Officials of the university are ruining the image. They work like on patron-client relationship.
global top 200 Universitys list indian Universitys are just iisc and iit Delhi only in this list too to out off 135. this is our education system. too much political interference in funtioning and regulations ,religious associations wars between within campus and finally brought this political agenda .where is autonomy in Universitys . talking about demographic devident young population country , growing unemployment rate , huge informal workforce, lack skills for skill development sheme, private dominating education , poor and commen man couldn't afford today , women education gender discrimination in every field workforce, empolyment, gender justice political represent and budget allocation very low 3 percent ,USA 15 percent more better African and our neighbors spending.
Is that a praise or a criticism? I really like Frank. If you notice him more during the debates, he does participate and correct people in his own way without offending the panellist.
this show is the best discussion or debate or chat show in the perspective of Indian media.
They should also have brought any senior bureaucrat who had worked in the domain, else it seems some ground reality is missing.
biggest example of curricula not revised is NCERT ,, a book that is referred to every UPSC aspirant

Ask students what changes do they want...Govt will get all the answers instead of listening to these educational specialists.
