    The Penal represents a mini-India: A Hindu, a Muslim, a Christian, a Sikh and a Parsee.

First of all ban the Holidays for the courts why should judiaciary take holidays like school teacher after all it is important institution in the country time to get rid off british era laws!!

Because Holidays are needed to maintain efficiency.Judges too are Human Beings! maybe reduce the no. of holidays'. Working them like donkeys is not the solution.

I agree with you bro! 45 days for summer vacation and all public holidays by counting all that SC will function only 9 months source :- www.firstpost.com/ideas/why-does-our-supreme-court-vacation-so-much-57236.html
i agree they to need rest they are not robots so the holidays for the courts must be reduced this is British era law look at the pending cases in our courts holidays may also be one of the reason for this many pending cases other reforms are also needed as mentioned by panelists in the discussion so that SC can gain it's credibility common man is suffering to file cases in courts because of the delays so the reforms must take in judiciary in fast manner! 😃😃😃

Summer vacations are not spent for recreation as popularly thought. They are used for writing judgments and other court related affairs. I was of the same notion before, but when PM mentioned about holidays in a jurists conference, CJI Thakur replied dissenting with the view.

I expected lot more judicial reforms to be discussed such as AIJS, reforms in lower judiciary, pendency etc. But the discussion limited itself to appointments.

    1. Transparency is important but knee jerk reaction needs to be avoided.
    2. Criterion must be laid down for selection or rejection. As without it many ad hoc decisions based o whims and fancy could be taken.
    3. This may be a step to maintain status quo. As only the decision and at the most reasons are made available while the criteria still remains under veil. Basic Criteria can be Ability, integrity and right temperament for judges selection. But an objective criteria based upon objective recommendation of a high level committee is required.
    4. Collegium system is seemed to be opaque.
    5. Recent decision is a step in right direction with this baby step.
    6. NJAC vs Collegial system (not a constitutional institution). Is it a debate closed. The current system is good convinient and leaning towards independence of judiciary but needs some modifications and reforms. Too much involvement of executive may spoil the curry. The tussle between exec/legislature and judiciary is on as can be seen in failure to finalise Memorandum of Procedure even after 2 years.
    7. There is need for national judicial academy for training evaluation and development of judges.
    8. Biggest challenge Loss of credibility.
9.Impact assessment of judgements, study of behaviour of judges and participation of academicia in these works.
    10. Judicial infrastructure. Need for provisions, upgradation and technological advancement like e- Courts.

The anchor is amazingly superb. Our North Korean channel can not compete with RSTV.

Seems Acche Din Finally Came. Not Because Modi has done something. It came from the people. They are watching RSTV more often. Achhe Din, isnt it?

NJAC was not a trial-test-reject process rather just a debate and reject process.

Isn't Case study on Judgements and studying the behavior of judges going to fall under contempt of court?

i agree with Satya Prakash that collegium system hampers separation of power but what about 9th schedule? doesn't it distort separation of power?

the decision is not a solution and not an end in itself, but rather needs a more objective criterion to achieve the point of transperancy

objective criteria shud be laid first ; otherwise no pt of reasons of decision
    make shortlisted ppl's names public
    transparency
    repercussions for rejected ones
a good lawyer != good judge
step to protect the collegium system
    integrity, proper temperament
no need to replace the system
NJAC => power with executive => will disturb the balance of power b/w executive & judiciary
behaviour, analysis of judgements & their impacts, case studies
judicial infrast : furniture, ecity supply, etc ; e-court project to come up ; connecting the courts
