- I went to a little comic book show and left with 100 comics from the '80s and '90s. In this video I'll tell you a bit about the books, and show you five awesome old advertisements found within 'em! Ads feature everything from Fire in the Sky to Ninja Turtles Cereal!

I’m happy to see you in a room that isn’t a broom closet full of expired food.
As someone who works in a comic book store, one of the best parts is flipping through the old books that come in and seeing the ads.
This is where comic art peaked. Something about the lines, colors and printing just makes flipping through any of these books MAGIC, it just has such a charm that modern stuff doesnt have
EDIT: YES TO MORE COMIC ADS! ESPECIALLY NINTENDO ONES!!!
I'm so with you. Something so special there. Comics were super distinct, totally their own. Impossible to reproduce in any other format. That combination of hatching and gradients..
@@KairuHakubi going into the city and getting a comic from a newstand was like buying a newspaper about the marvel universe
I once got to spend 20 bucks on 100 books during a sale at my store. Nothing beats digging though old long boxes and maybe finding an old comic I've never read before. I hope you do more vids like this. Old ads are part of the charm of having physical copies as opposed to collected editions or digital copies. That and the wonderful smell of newsprint. More, please!
I remember selling a bunch of junk for a prize...that final ad brings back memories. My parents and relatives would buy a lot of it since I wasn't social enough to actually have any success otherwise, lol.
Nothing better than 80s and 90s comic ads… nothing! Among my favorites were the multi page Reese’s Pieces “pieces” ads from the early 90s, the Life Savers Gummies magic poster hidden image ad, and the 3D-styled Spree ad from 95. Reading that back, I realize how deep I am in this sect of nostalgia lol.
I'd love to see more comic ad videos, but honestly any Dino Drac content would be fantastic!
Yes, definitely cover more of these ads. These are a strangely big piece of my childhood.
Yes! More dino drac!
I love seeing a showcase or tour of interesting stuff from someone who actually enjoys this kind of thing.
Also I liked the way the video ended like a slow start up of music and then shutting off the camera. It's could easily become a recurring send off.
Matt, your wall of framed art looks classy as all get out! Love it! 🤩
I love vintage ads of any form, be they in comics, TV, old VHS tapes, whatever... so please do continue to cover comic ads.
The biggest downside to trade paperbacks is you miss out on the amazing ads. Love the Hubba Bubba ads of the late 80's early 90's!
+1 vote for more comic book ad videos.
It's like X-Entertainment all over again! Please post up more content like this!
Ah nostalgia!
My biggest nostalgia hit from this video was seeing that Ninja Turtle cereal bowl. I had forgotten I had one. Thanks for the video!
I love reading these older comics from the 70's & 80's, and those Marvel Universes are still gold
Yes! Do more retrospective videos! Or any videos you want! I consume Dino drac in any form
I collect the old Atari ads from comics, often times they never appeared anywhere else. Very cool video Matt!
A new Dino Drac video and it's only January !!! Perfect post Holidays blues pick me up. Starting 2022 strong. 😊💪👌
Great video, Matt. That Fire in the Sky scene fucked me up when I was 12.
1000% interested in more youtube content from Dino Drac
More of the ads would be kool! I grew up with them (child of the 70s) and I remember trying to save money to get those xray glasses.
I've been following your journey through nostalgic junk for 20 years now. Whatever you want to make a video about I'll watch it.
Those official handbook comics are awesome!
Yes, please do more of this content - and more of any other content you are inclined to produce.
This channel is absolute gold.
If anything is going to save humanity, it's going to be this channel.
I mean, I'd be game to see more, but in any case, this was a fun trip down memory lane.
I had completely forgotten about the Olympic sales club. I would look at those prizes for hours. All of these ads were amazing memory joggers, please do more!
Great seeing you back on RUclips, this content is amazing. Please do more retrospective videos!
Bonkers! Man, that's what that candy was called! I couldn't remember it, but I was thinking about it somewhat recently. I remember getting it all the time as a kid... Great video though, lots of memories!
I NEVER thought about how old comics are also full of old ads. Now I might have to pick some up from one of the guys who sell them on the street.
This is definitely fun. More comic advert vids please
Really enjoy these. Hope you pop on even more over the winter.
I would like to see more comic book retro ads. Yes please squire!
You're my kind of guy, Matt! I'm ALL about the comic book adds and the oddities in these old books. I really couldn't care less about the story lines... The obscure 80s releases are what I'm all about haha
I'd love to see comic advertisements as a regular video segment. Awesome vid dude!
I want that Reese's alien page! I'll have to go dig around my comic shop and try to find one.
Please, please PLEASE do more of these! I love your personal stories about the advertisements & it'd be fun to read out other people's memories on the ads, too.
Olympic. Man that is classic. I still have those old Marvel Universe books. Loved them. They had every artist in the bullpen contributing.
I love old comic book ads. Sega had some excellent ones, if memory serves. Good to have you back! Keep em coming!
Man, I love seeing those old ads again, and I love the wall of art. Great stuff.
Thanks for unlocking that last drop of serotonin.
That reeses pieces alien is what will get me through today.
I love going through older comics to see ads for comic book shops and the prices they were asking at the time. If I bought from those ads when I was a kid I would be retired right now.
It’s fun to see you talk about comics. I hope you do more videos like this.
I was always partial to the 'Hostess Pies' ads in comics--- they would have the actual characters from the comic, involved in some sort of Hostess-pie related heist. Like the Hulk would have to wrest a stolen box of pies away from Rhino or something.
Loved this video. it brought back a lot of memories from collecting Marvel cards, to mailing UPC symbols for stuff out of magazines, and selling weird wrapping paper or candy door-to-door. I hope you continue to make more videos like this, Matt. Thanks for sharing with us!
I love your content but I am very interested in more of these.
Matt in his video; “let me know down below if you wanna see more comic book ads from the 80s and 90s
My brain: “YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!”
Hey looking good, Matt! I love that wall of framed art. I remember all those comic ads like it was yesterday. More videos please! 🦖🧛🏻♂
What a great and unexpected Friday surprise. Thanks for posting!
I would like to see more comic book ad videos.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this. I always bypass comics when I see them at garage sales. Now I’ll be looking through them.
Also- that old comic book smell. I wish it could be bottled.
I love the ads in old comic books. "Muscles? In 7 days?"
It may have been mentioned, but a video exploring Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone, etc. ads could be interesting. Probably not as fun, but maybe some gems?
Ralston cereals were damn legendary to me. TMNT, Ghostbusters, Batman and a personal favorite of mine: Morning Funnies! Bonkers was a great candy. I thought a few years ago they were trying to make a comeback, but I don't know what happened to that?
Great video!
Wish I could read X-E again.
Yes! Do more of these! I did this recently and got a Bill and Ted theatrical release ad, and a mortal Kombat II ad!
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLEASE!!!
More Comic Ads video please!! This was a fun video, and reminded of the long boxes that are still at my parents house. I should go get them and see what i've got.
Hey this was fire bro. Do more of these comic book ad reviews on here!
I love all your videos. More nostalgia is always better!
Great video Matt. Would love to see more. I know I always like to do the same thing with old books.
I really wish they'd bring bonkers back.
I remember seeing those old Olympic Sales Club ads in... fuck, I wanna say Disney Adventures??? So many pipe dream boom boxes and weird electronics.
I always love these articles, and they're just as fun on video, too!
Yes more RUclips content! This was great hearing you describe this, we really get a feel for how much you love this stuff
2:49 Marvel did something similar with the Transformers when they were doing the comic series. I must've read through those a billion times when I was a kid.
I would love to see that! Great video, as usual.
Loved it! I also liked the adds that sell you X-ray glasses and things like that.
Such a cool video. I love your content on RUclips. Those last starfighter comics are awesome. I have the whole set
I have been looking at your website for many years! I like your RUclips Channel as well. Love this content. I too love seeing vintage comic book ads. I also have a book called Mail Order Mysteries: Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads by Kirk Demarais. Excellent book. I highly recommend that.
Love it! Love old comic ads. Keep ‘em coming.
Dinosaur Dracula year round. I love it!!
Rad, I love all the old school ads. Very cool ✌🕶
Groo! 💜 And I love all those old ads!
Great to see you still producing articles and media. Always wondered what happened to you from the x-entertainment days. Hope all is well.
Such a great video Matt, thanks for introducing me to the Reese's Pieces alien!
The most amazing backdrop I've ever seen! Definitely interested in as many of these as you up for doing!
Great video! I would be interested in seeing more videos on comics and comic ads. Also I would just love more videos in general. Whatever you want to do. You are one of my favorite creators and it is always a fun time.
LOVE THIS! Yes please do more! Honestly it is just so great to see another video from you!
Great video! Lots of fun to see these old ads
Keep up the good work. I love ads an “wish books” .
I love buying vintage comics!!
What a pleasant surprise. I always enjoy your content. Hope to see much more here on YT.
Seeing more of anything you do in any form is up my alley, so of course I want more. Along the same lines you and Jay could do a video version of reviewing an Action Toy Guide thing. That’d be great.
Loved this Matt, brings back a lot of memories! Keep’em coming 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Loved this!! Can't wait to see what you post next!!
Oh man I remember all these ads! Def need to do more of these in future videos.
I’d love to see more of these kind of videos!

Great content as always. Thanks for sharing!
Loving these uploads!
I used to beg my parents to let me do the Olympic Sales Club. I hope you put that on your resume!
Loved the vid man. I’m a serious collector and you’ve got some choice books there.
Hope you do more videos in the future like this one. Thanks!
More, please. Lots more. Thank you.
5:27: why does it look like he's just wearing a modern day cosmetic face sheet mask.
What a great haul. I love .50 comics. Please more videos like these.
always love your content!
keep up the videos man, love it
I was four when I first watched Fire in the sky. Yep...those scars are permanent.
