Its a cliche, racing driver excuses but Tim Harvey came out with a complete classic when he was driving is Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth in the BTCC at Brand Hatch.
He clearly nurfed Mike Smith off but it obviously was Mike's fault
"He will overtake people but he doesn't want people to overtake him"
Really Tim? You don't say!
Due respect to Tim Harvey though, the guy is a bit of a legend both from a driving point of view and from a talking point of view!
Like I said, a text book example of a racing driver excuse this, I have yet to see a better example!
I think Tim might have even put his neck out with all the head shaking....
Tim's like one of those people who don't like to be passed on a motorway,he's happy to pass others, but doesn't liked to be passed himself, just an old Fashioned bully boy....
Sorry Tim, but you were in the wrong here
Tim is right it's never Mike smiths fault .He caused more accidents than any other driver in 1989 so I understand Tim getting frustrated with him what's he ever achieved to criticise someone else's driving.
Tim won most of the rounds in 1992 on his own merit Steve only helped at brands because his engine was leaking oil and Silverstone. Tim was a head of him in the points so team orders Steve helps his team mate like any other team would do and if you watched some of tims drives in the wet you would understand what a legend he is.
Wouldn't describe him as a "legend" he was pretty shite to be honest. He wasn't fit to lick the shit off of Andy Rouse's shoes and he was clearly in the wrong here as he bulldozed Mike Smith off of the track..
That's how he got the money to run the year though
And also why ABS was band then to as Harvey and Soper basicly dived up the inside of everyone block passed at corners as they new there was no way they could have done that without ABS
I think you mean banned.
Did anyone notice that hot shirtless dude in the background
Tim isn't a legend in my eyes tbh he had help from Steve sopher to win the championship one year... I don't know of any real pro racing driver that requires help to win
Just most. Look at the Honda's in todays BTCC... Most drivers need help from their team mates. Like I said look at the Honda's, eg. shedden...
+Fighting Force look at Andy rouse he built his own car and was massively successful, look at dick Johnson he built his own and won massively in multiple touring car championships , Tim Harvey's car was built by Andy rouse if I'm correct and he still couldn't drive it properly and then blames someone else when he's driven into them
Its wasn't built by Andy Rouse. It was built by Vic Lee's operation. If Teammates helping each win championships in deciding rounds is alien to you, then you haven't seen many touring car races. It literally happens all the time. Of course you need the circumstances for it first. The Finales in 2007 & 2009 both had these scenarios. Plus when Gordon Shedden won the title twice in 2012 and 2015. and those are just the ones I can remember.
Harvey won a BTC title in one of the most competitive eras of the sport. He won 5 races on the trot in the latter part of the 92 season. Soper was a top international touring car driver, competing in Europe for BMW along with the BTCC and Harvey got the better of him. He was every bit a deserving winner that year.

The Sierra was built by Andy Rouse
BMW was built by Vic Lee and some questionable money funding ended with Vic doing a bit of bird
@@davyfaeforth I'm not talking about this clip. He won the title in a BMW, built by Lee's company. I haven't heard anybody suggest that the pace of the BMW's was down to Vic Lees drug smuggling operation. I think that was more for his own ends. Anyway. Harvey's team mate in the BMW was a top driver, and he got the better of him in equal equipment. Harvey was a top driver for years and his contemporaries would back that up
