CLASSIC Televison. When entertainment was about shows, achievements, music, celebrities, movies, historical actors. Not about gossip or the downfall or divorce of a celebrity.
I miss the golden age of television, but just give me a big break. I'm not gonna trash everything new and I will not be forced into this crap by those lifeless, grown-a** nostalgically-blind hypocrites!
Thanks for ruining television as a whole for me, you pushy, manipulative, toxic, violent, deadly, aggressive, hypocritical, racist, sexist, homophobic, political, bigoted extremist!
I'd like to see you pushy, manipulative, toxic, violent, deadly, aggressive, hypocritical, racist, sexist, homophobic, political, bigoted extremists commit violent and terrorist threats at every major corporation even though they have done nothing wrong!
14,000 episodes, Mann time flies when you are with the stars. *ET* been an Hollywood Icon since September 14th,1981 Five days before I was born.
Dam it been that long I thought it started in 1990s
A month before I was born
@@presley007 for me 5 days till "my world debut."
I was never born, when this show came out. I was born in 1988, and I grew up and used to watching “ET” in the 90s, and it goes on from there, etc.
Fun Fact: For the first year, the show was always referred to as “Entertainment Tonight”. Following the success of ET: The Extra-Terrestrial the following year is when they started to use the initials of the show and branding on the microphones.
I noticed that when I was a kid. It seemed very deliberate to me, and my family thought I was silly for suggesting it.
Damn This Came Out The Year I Was Born! 😅 I Use To Watch This Show As A Kid. 3-18-81 Damn I’m Feeling Ole 😂 Hearing This Opening Theme Music Gave Me Chills 🥶 Good Ole Days Of The 80’s When TV Shows & Movies Was Great What A Good Time Great Memories😢 R.I.P. To My Father ❤😊

Planting seeds for ET 40th anniversary

"Entertainment Tonight" premiered on September 14, 1981. The first show featured a five-part interview with Burt Reynolds, who promoted the movie "Paternity", a conversation with Richard Chamberlain, the 33rd annual Emmy Awards, the 1981 fall TV preview, and a profile of Blondie's Debbie Harry.
I remember this show's beginning.the graphics, the music and everything. I was 11 years old. It was one of my favorite newsmagazine programs.
So glad you uploaded this episode. Thank you.
0:35 hearing that theme Goosebumps on top of Goosebumps
OMG so classic ♥️
Happy 42nd Anniversary, Entertainment Tonight!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I grew up watching this show through out the 1980s & 90s. It was the only show of its kind. Sadly, the show has become like everything else and I haven't watched it in many years.
This is really neat! ET's 40th season will begin exactly 39 years to the day that ET aired its very first show!
ET:42 years and going strong September 12 with Nichelle and Kevin plus 8 Emmy Awards. WHAT??? That’s Incredible!!! Kenneth A Huang v7/12/2022

Happy anniversary entertainment Tonight
I remember watching ET when I was young, I had no clue what Mary was talking about but I remember watching the Birthdays slot and guessing who was celebrating on that day
Wow!!! I'm loving this
Keep posting more of it ❤
I was a month away from my 3rd birthday when this aired and my mom was 31 years old!!! Wow
My mother and sister loved following what was going on in Hollywood, so we had ET on at home every night from its beginning episode, 7:30 PM, right after PM Magazine, but I remember the original hosts didn't last long and within a few months of this first episode, Tom and Marjorie were gone.
One highlight that ET will not forget: NAMED TOP ENTERTAINMENT NEWS SHOW 2022 AT THE DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS.
2023 WILL HAVE AT LEAST 260 NEW EPISODES FOR ET TO PRODUCE. GOOD LUCK, NICHELLE & KEVIN.
Kenneth Huang 12/28/22.
My mom was like 6 months pregnant with me at this time, maybe she went to screening of that Burt Reynolds movie too.

PS: ET WAS NOMINATED FOR 10 EMMYS IN PRIMETIME COMPETITION, BUT IT NEVER WON THAT AWARD.
IT EVENTUALLY MOVED TO THE DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS. IT HAS DONE MUCH BETTER SINCE THEN. 8 EMMYS SO FAR. THE TV ACADEMY HAD FINALLY WELCOMED ET AS THE WINNINGEST ENTERTAINMENT NEWS PROGRAM IN AMERICA. Kenneth A Huang 7/28/2022.
I wish there was a story on Michael Jackson every episode of Entertainment tonight but this was very much enjoyed ❤

ET: THE RECORD BREAKING 43RD SEASON BEGINS ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11TH. LET’S SEE IF THE WRITERS AND ACTORS FROM BOTH GUILDS CAN PUT TOGETHER A NEW DEAL SO THAT THE FALL TV SEASON CAN BE SAVED.
Kenneth Huang 8/26/23.
Classic!
this will be an obscure question, but can you find and or upload the episode talking about the Nickelodeon series "Weinerville?" it might have been a 1994 episode, John Tesh was covering it!
I would like see the October 30, 1990 Episode & The One they did a Report on Nickelodeon GUTS.
Mmm Damn that Bert Reynolds is FINE Here. I Remember this Premiere, I was pregnant with my son, who was born in March, 1982. It seems so Dated now 41 years later, Love Blondie too!
The opening link is awkward and forced. Ron Hendren seems by far the most comfortable. Haha, man this really was recorded live to tape, either that or their sound op was bargain basement with all the missed cues and time taken to close mics - which in some cases are so long you can actually hear the VT sound on the floor God box.
This is where it all started.
Oooh back when ET was about actual entertainment news, not feeding the vile machine of trash gossip & opinion giving. When stories came from hard work not trawling Twitter & RUclips.
I was born when ET was still pretty decent, 1994. I'm too young to remember that particular era but I've watched episodes from that year and the years before then. It definitely was a hell of a lot better back then than it is now. At least at that time, it gave viewers a hard look at the ins and outs of the business and helped them to understand it to the best of their ability. Wish the current caretakers would try something like that now, if only gossip wasn't so prevalent.
@@milesmorris9333 sure it was press junkets and the such, but it was good being for being able to see what was coming up.
Lenard Maltin's reviews were awesome
Very true
hurrah for the Original version of the intro
oooh, it still is about entertainment, back with idiots didn't complain about everything
Cool!!! 😊😊😊
you can tell on this 1st episode they read too much off the teleprompter. too robotic. the blonde on the left looks like she has no clue what she is doing.
I was in 1981 as a baby. I was 9 months.
2:24 Ron Hendren looks like former NBC Sports announcer Tom Hammond...
Wow so weird my girl is still Mary hart and my dude John the man Tesh 1987-1992 my time 8-13yrs old good times
0:33 Intro
Hi Tom Hallick & Marjorie Wallace!
Do you have the first episode of The People's Court from September 14, 1981, featuring judge Joseph A. Wapner, reporter Doug Llewellyn, bailiff Rusty Burrell, and announcer Jack Harrell, includes the first court case, and the closing credits with the camera panning around the empty courtroom, and at the end, we see the Telepictures Corporation logo?
Absolutely not.
Hi Ron Hendren!
Neat!
Found it!
@0:50, Ron Henderson looks like Regis Philbin
Ron Hendren is his name, but you're right about him looking like Regis Philbin.
Why couldn’t you upload this in the proper frame rate? I have a few of your shows from this era uploaded properly. Also, although that “ET” logo is largely off the picture area, it really wasn’t necessary to put it there. Let’s remember and go back to when TV wasn’t constantly covered in graphics!
Three hosts? what a bo nehead idea that was though it didn't last but a few weeks
3:50 Livia Soprano
who is he? 0:57
I think it’s time to get back to basics like this. Hollywood, please drain the swamp of the rapists, angry liberals and entitled people.
Entertainment Tonight has become trash
Wow, this did not age well. So many cringy moments!
I can't believe I wasted so much time watching this fluff in the 80s. 10 years from now, I will say the same about RUclips.
Dixie Wheatley was stunning. Absolutely gorgeous
Groundbreaking. Ahead of it’s time
After Marjorie's lover, Formula 1 driver Peter Revson, died in the 1974 South African Grand Prix, her life bottomed out when she attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. She later lived with Jimmy Connors, but Jimmy dumped her in favor of 1977 Playmate of the Year Patti McGuire. Jimmy and Patti are still married, so that was a good choice. Wallace later married the son of then-Chargers owner Eugene Klein and a had son with him.
