It is also good if you want to get your limit breaks up quickly since the less HP you have the higher your limit break goes. I used it to get Tifa's limit break to level 4 so she could learn final heaven before the final boss.
BRO, DO YOU EVEN COVER MATERIA?!!? Seriously though, Tifa had all limits except Final Heaven before I even made it to Fort Condor the first time. Just rotate fighting in the forest around Junon for using limits and then go back to the cave between Ft Condor and Chocobo Farm and fight mobs in the cave room with the vine. Easy peasy.
One of the funniest conversations I can recall in my life was hanging out with a friend of mine as he turned on the playstation, told me "check this out man" and flew over where ruby weapon once stood. he smiled, "just wanted you to see what's not there!"
I remember beating Ruby and Emerald weapon back when I was kid... and then calling my friend and leaving a voicemall just to tell I kicked weapons asses. . Freakin' life goals, bruh.
I beat him once and only once on a whim immediately after I beat emerald, my cousins and brother were watching me and couldn't believe I beat emerald, I couldn't believe it either but it gave me serious confidence and went right for ruby using mime and kotr-hp hit, it was sloppy but I beat him, could never beat him again after that, but I imagine after this video I could do it easily
I was never able to beat emerald"no" idea about the materia trick" but ruby seemed easy, beat him without leveling before the third disk at lvl 50ish.. I think i got lucky because he'd always knock out two characters before warping my team out.. I even remember the reward, a nice sward for cloud.
heres a silly tip : did you know that ultima weapon & ruby weapon can run out of MP? For ultima weapon if he runs out of MP, hes completly useless! (but that doesnt matter because hes the weakest) he also wont hit you with his final attack when hes dead! For ruby weapon if he runs out of MP he wil only use his ruby flame/ray etc and his tentacel attacks.. And for emerald weapon... Wel he doesnt run out of MP! i know this is silly & useless... But its still fun to mess around with ultima weapon if he runs out of MP. lol
For Ultima, you don't want him to run out, otherwise you miss out on Shadow Flare until the end of the North Crater. For Emerald, I don't think any of his attacks even use MP.
23 years later, people are still thanking you for this, especially me! thank you so much brudda! i really appreciate it! Successful years ahead of you always!
A big salute to 4-8 Productions. Thanks to him and his 5 Unleveled Materia strategy, I was able to beat Ruby Weapon just now and my childhood nightmare is over after 20+ years. (In addition to the Hero Drinks prior to attacking Ruby). It took my dad months or weeks just to defeat him. After watching this video, I was able to defeat him in 1 day and in Level 74.
I actually beat Ruby once without using Knights of the Round at all. When the battle started, we went at it, back & forth for about 45 minutes to an hour. Surprisingly, Ruby ran out of MP, so no more Meteor 2 or Ultima Attacks, etc. However, the didn't stop Ruby from tryin' to B-Slap me. I cast Regeneration and just as it ran out, Ruby hit me one time and knocked my HP down to *7777*. My Character went freakin' berserk, attacking continuously for over 35 strikes at 7777 damage a strike. At 1st I didn't know what was going on until I saw I had all 7777's. One of the Rarest occurrences during a Battle in FF7 happened @ 1 of the BEST TIMES. Thank You, 7777's.
This reminds me of a run I did on Final Fantasy VIII where I was going for Bahamut, which requires you to fight two sets of ruby dragons before facing him. After four or five tries, it became clear that I didn't have enough consumables to beat the dragons. I only had one or two elixirs and a couple mp replenishing items so I was pretty much stuffed. But I'd been grinding for hours and was committed. That's when I got two fights in a row of Odin swooping down, auto-killing the dragons at the battle's outset, and clearing a path to Bahamut. Pretty memorable. About six of my friends were gathered around and we cheered like morons for about ten minutes. Good times.
Step 1 - Character 1: W-Summon Hades/Knights Step 2 - Character 2: Mimic W-Summon Knights/Knights Step 3 - Wait until paralyze wears off Step 4 - Repeat until dead Because Ruby counters Knights with Ultima, you normally can't use it to cheese the battle. But this is where you use Hades first with W-Summon. As Ruby is a superboss, it is immune to every status ailment, except paralyze (Stop), but his resistance to it is astronomical, so casting it normally will almost always fail. However, Hades can bypass that as Hades inflicts every status ailment that the target is susceptible to at a 100% success rate. While Ruby is paralyzed, there is enough time to use the second summon to use Knights as well as W-Summoning double Knights again. So you get 3 castings of Knights before Stop wears off. Do not do it again as Stop would wear off mid Knights animation and would cause a counter with Ultima. Hades also will not work to inflict the status again if the target is already suffering from the ailment at the time the casting starts. Simply wait about 15-20 seconds after the third round of Knights for Ruby to start moving again to start the steps over again. If you're not too quick on the buttons in the menus, set the ATB to active and have your W-Summon ready to cast at a single button press for when he starts moving again. Now that you know how to beat Ruby, enjoy your Golden Chocobo, which you will already have one of by this point because you already have the Knights Materia. Honestly, there are much better options for prizes than a Golden Chocobo. Hell a Megalixer would be more useful at this point.
The one and only time I fought Ruby Weapon, I had Cait Sith in the party on Limit Break. Used Slots, came up 3x Cait Sith, Ruby Weapon dead. Had no idea how tough this boss actually was until years later. Three cheers for dumb luck.
@@NineBreakerUIXB I swear it happened. I was very underleveled and I kept losing to him over and over. Then wouldn't you know it I got the death slot machine and it killed him. That was how I first beat the game way back in the day.
@peefromtmv What for? I can beat the game with less than that. FF7 is linear to be challenging. The enemies should not be push overs. These days the stats of them can stay equal with the player and/or higher. Smash Melee has the Cruel Melee and that is unwinnable.
I just want to have a heart to heart with you real quick and say, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You! Your guide has been a massive help! You have no idea how difficult Ruby and Emerald was. They have been a massive thorn to my sides; and thanks to you; I have finally conquered them! You sir have led to my victory. Thank you so much! And for that, you have earned a Sub from me.
Man, I still remember the first time I beat ruby weapon when I was 13 years old, I didn't know any of this stuff going in, and I ended up getting two party members whirl sanded until only Cloud remained. This long drawn out fight took place and I remember constantly getting shadow flaired and ultima'd in the fight. I spent my time throwing money at Ruby, but I ran out of money, and also elixir's, since I did not know about the W-Item glitch. Eventually I saw that Ruby was going to cast shadow flare and do me in, much to my frustration and anger that I had come so far only to lose here. I braced myself to be enraged, when a message popped up that I never expected to see in my life "Ruby weapon's skill power is used up." I had fought Ruby so long, and through so many healing items, that he ran out of mp... Needless to say, anytime he cast a spell it was a free turn for me, so I whacked away at him until he died. I celebrated with joy, jumping around the room, got my gold chocobo that sucked at racing, and got my Knights of the Round. Ah, memories.
This strategy is actually better than the official strategy. I didn't know you could safely revive your characters after the tentacles. I solo'd him with Cloud.
Oh thought that was the official strategy... incl using Hades to permanently freeze Ruby combined with KOR. I wanted to see if theres a way without ko-ing your characters
I had the Bradygames strategy guide as a little kid. The basic strategy was fight him one on one while wearing the ribbon item to avoid status effects. It even had you resetting the game if Ruby eliminated the wrong characters.
Same thing with Octopath Traveler. You fight all the big bosses to get the best jobs, and then there are no bosses left that you would need those jobs for... Final Fantasy and Octopath Traveler need an NG+ that drastically ramps up the difficulty. Although I’d say FFX handled end game best. Gathering ultimate weapons and grinding the hidden dungeon progressed into the Calm Arena perfectly.
Thank you for demonstrating the W-Sum-Hades-KotR-Mime materia combo! Uploaded a video using this and gave you a shoutout in my description for credit your work. Again, many many thanks!
This was such an awesome part to this amazing game. The fact that you run into the Ruby Weapon so early on into the game, with literally no shot whatsoever of beating him until the endgame was awesome. To realize that there was an enemy in the game that was that hard so early on made the rest of the game more exciting.
@@They_are_Arthur You guys are right. I'm thinking of the sand snake that you encounter early on. And then encountering the Ruby later in the game when you think you're a badass and get stomped to the ground
@Joe Brown yeah I think Jrpg in general have an easier time on handheld console. Cause on ps4 or Xbox one, people tend to stick with AAA titles more. That explains why back in the days, the ps vita was home to multiple JRPG in general
The Dazers strategy worked so well! After reviving them, I had tifa throw Dazers and mega elixirs every time then had cloud do omnislash after a few hero drinks, had barret Quad summon Bahumet Zero a few times, then Cloud W-Summon Knight of the round twice. A few other attacks mixed in, boom 100% complete on the game.
Stats not high enough? I read somewhere in the comments that if you're not max stat you won't live. Because your magic damage isn't high enough. They said it's you're revive/final attack combo, it runs out because you don't hit Ruby 800,000 hp mark in the amount of revives you are given (in total 5). The trick is, add another final attack/revive combo and you should win. But also like 4-8 productions said, "sometimes Ruby is just a dick no matter what you do".
Cody Paugh Smoking a blunt while I read this almost died Final fantasy seven is my shit from the hoodest place Long Beach California A still play this since I was a little kid 26 years old
So I tried the suggestions of adding another set of Final Attack/KotR. As well as trying another Final Attack/revive combo and neither helped. Cloud would cast both revives each time you died making that adjustment useless. Adding the other summon combo for whatever reason only made it to where the knights were summoned once per death. However, after adding two Mastered Magic Plus Materia, he cane crashing down without ever touching a button. Hope you find this helpful if anyone else was encountering this issue and didn’t want to Source farm to upgrade your stats. Cloud was at lvl 99 when I did this, but I hadn’t maxed out his stats yet. HAPPY GAMING MY FELLOW NERDS!!!
I defeated him using knights of the round back on the days but couldn't ever imagine Ruby could be beaten without a single button pressing! Thanks for the video.
Believe it or not, I was able to beat both emerald and ruby weapon by using cait sith one shot kill limit break. Never thought it would work but used it as a last ditch effort in the playstation version and it worked!
@@xelayutui5629 I was looking for someone to say this, makes all battles pretty easy. This and the mime trick on all characters basically makes you unstoppable.
@@crimescene25 Well sir, judging by the likes I got for my comment. I think the majority had an easier time in their teens than later. You are one of the few.
still not quite got round to the technique i used, printed in a magazine back in 1997, that requires almost no button presses. knock out your two weakest characters before the fight begins. equip ribbon your main dude. Get your HP up to 9999 through HP Plus (or levelling) Link knights of the round to mastered hp absorb and link a mastered counter command to mime. when the fight starts, cast KOTR. everytime he attacks, you counter with mime, which is KOTR, which returns you to max health. Boosh, dead.
This is almost the same as you sitting there mimicking KOTR-HP absorb manually, which is the strategy everyone will think of. However, there's one time I fought Ruby this way and suddenly he cast Ultima and 9999 me. Only saw that once though.
There's actually a much simpler way that only needs two materia. Ruby weapon isn't immune to paralyze. Added Effect+Hades will let you keep him permanently paralyzed with just auto attacks mean you just keep spamming X until you win.
I've beat Ruby WEAPON with one character and only TWO mastered Materia. Cloud, level 99, Ribbon, W-Item, Double Cut. Basically, just using the Dazers method after grinding for Sources in the Sunken Gelnika so that Cloud's stats were all 255. Boost those further with five Hero Drinks and each strike of the 4x Cut was dealing 9999 damage.
Ok, i have already killed both weapons back then at the 90's. But still color me impressed, that last strategy was awesome. Totally OP. For me that's an instant suscribe to this channel. Excellent Work.
The simplest trick I learned back in the day was the Final Attack+Phoenix trick along with W-Summon and Mime. Your character is basically immortal with that combination.
The final attack + revive combo was actually what I used all those years ago. In fact I used it against emerald weapon as well so even when he did the 9999 attack since everyone had a final attack they just revived themselves. It was super cheap and unfair but it worked. I remember trying so many times to beat Ruby with whirlsand and I am pretty sure I did the kill off my characters trick as well. I don't remember it being as easy as not pressing a button though. I remember trying a billion times (though that was with all of the attempted strats and combos). I also think I used the HPMP. I don't think I ever thought to use mime though that was unique. I used KOTR + W-Summon but don't think I thought of combining it with mime.
Beat him back in '97 being an 11 year old kid with my little brother...without knowing any English...at 7 a.m. before school. Awesome times, good memories : )
Same as me my dude, I did play FFVII when I was just a kid, without knowing any English at all, I learned a lot of vocabulary by the end of the game play lmao.
I didn't do the "Ultimate no button pressing Strategy" but the solo method worked great! Solo Cloud using Knights of the Round pair HP Absorb/ Phoenix pair Final Attack(just in case)/ Mime- Weapon Hades pair W-Summon/ Ultima in Armor Slot using "Fire Armlet" and "Ribbon" 1st round- W-Summon= Hades then Knights of the Round /2nd - 8th round just hit Mime = Dead Ruby Weapon! Thanks 4-8 Productions! I was getting frustrated..glad I found your Video!
I killed Ruby and Emerald Weapons legit when FF7 first came out, back in 1997. I murdered Ruby Weapon with one character, but holy shit at all the hours of preparing for those battles. And now, 19 years later, finding out there were tricks and other strategies that make those fights easier...? My 15-year-old self is huddled in a corner sobbing.
Justin Reeve Yeah, when I killed Ruby and Emerald, it was along those lines too. All I remember is that all my materia was completely maxed out... which is funny because at the time, I didn't know that you could get a Master materia from the Huge materia if you maxed out all the materia in that particular class. I remember thinking "wtf are these things for?" I remember I had only gotten 2 or 3 out of the 4 Huge materia, which shows how clueless I was to their importance.
Max stat in ff7 is actually 335, your stat in game doesn't show it, but you can only use +80 source items past the 255 mark, after the 80 you can use no more source items for said stat.
Emerald is much more difficult imo, I beat ruby no problem, but still haven't beaten emerald...it's been almost 20 years! I love your channel, ff7 is my favorite game of all time and I love how these videos take me back!
TheRoshan89 I had saved my game right before facing emerald and after on a different slot. I was never able to beat emerald again from that save. I think he was pissed off that I beat him and he won’t let me do it again. It might help if one of your characters has 7777 life going into the battle, that will really help and royally piss him off.
My strategy was pretty simple: based around KOTR with HP absorb and mime. Each summon completely refilled my life and I was strong enough to withstand the Ultima counter. I had Master Summon + MO absorb and Phoenix + Final Attack as contingencies, but I never needed them.
I used W-Summon with Hades and Knights of the Round, then mimed it over and over again. When he killed my ass, the final attack linked with Phoenix brought them all back. Then it was rinse and repeat.
I finally beat all 3 weapons thanks to some tips from your videos!! I beefed up my characters with the source morphing (farmed like hell) except didn't care about the spirit part. I equipped Cloud with w-summon + master summon, also with final attack + phoenix incase I died and mime. I killed off Yuffie and Cid. First I had Cloud w-summon, hades then phoenix, and had Yuffie (with W-Item) use Dazers and Megaelixirs and she was equipped with magic counter + KotR, and I had Cid do W-summon of Knights of the Round. I basically killed Ruby Weapon like this, where he had no time to do anything with his tentacles or his counter attack with Ultima, and I had Cloud also do W-Summon Knights of the Round, or mimed whoever, Yuffie or Cid. When he finally died after only a few rounds, I was like WTF THAT'S IT?? Honestly, idk if it's because I was equipped differently for Emerald Weapon, but I thought Ruby Weapon was easier than Emerald Weapon. =\ I'm really excited for the remake, but something tells me it's going to be very easy to kill the weapons...
It's just crazy to me to think people are still playing this game.. I used to cut school for days in a row..like the whole day just to stay at home and play ff7. Never thought people would make killing those annoying bosses so easy.. thank you youtube.. brings back so many memories..
Excellent video my friend! However I have an even more braindead strategy that works on both emerald and ruby. All you have to do is make sure neither of the bosses can kill you in a single hit. Once you've done that, equip cloud as such: - KOTR combined with HP Absorb - Counter combined with mime - Hp materia to get to 9999 HP -Throw in a magic materia to get to 255 magic or at least close to that. Enter either fight, cast KOTR, then proceed to go and make a sandwich. 2 button clicks, 2 boss kills. Of course on emerald weapon make sure your other 2 characters have no materia equipped. No underwater materia is required either, nor any materia leveling or any real source farming (although some might be needed to make sure you dont get 1 hit by either boss) So I call this the maximum cheese minimum effort class act super guide technique of destiny. I hope you enjoy. I know I did
I remember beating Ruby Weapon entering the battle with 3 characters, then leaving Tifa as the sole character to fight him. Something about her limit breaks were the reason.
Cross slash saved the day for me. Kept him stunned and had Cid cast KOTR over and over (Master Summon). Thanks for the stun strategy. Both weapons smoked me as a kid in 1998. Finally beat them 22 years later (Ps4 boost modes 😛)
I have bad memories with this boss. I used to play this game with my dad when I was younger and we spent literal weeks trying to beat him. Then on the day we do beat him after we win the fight with one party member alive. We get into a fight with one of those flying wizard dudes and he pulls out joker, insta killing cloud, my final party member before we saved
Ruby yields 50,000 AP. Wanna know how to beat Ruby with all 3 characters alive, equipped with Rune Armlets? All you need is Mime, KotR, Phoenix, W-summon, and Hades. Hades should be at least level 2. No other levelling is needed (a second Mime helps alot, tho). After Ruby grounds its tentacles, cast Hades /Phoenix (in that order). While Ruby is stunned and your party revives, restore your summoner's MP with an item. Then, cast Hades/KotR. Mime till he's dead. You're welcome.
this bit embarrassing I gave up playing ff7 back in 97 thinking it was a boring game. took my copy and put it away. now that the remake is out I went and began playing ff7 again after 23 years. just beat emerald and ruby weapon using some of the tricks from this videos {thanks for them.}and just realize that I miss one great game back in 97. can't wait to play the remake. thanks for your videos were of great help.
so many bad memories.. i rember a friend of mine, beating ruby, bragging that its mega easy and then telling me, that he used the lucky 7 for it. it was the first time for me that i understood was cheesing really was because in my eyes, thats nothing to be proud of but the only thing that counted for him was, that ruby is dead
I don't remember all the details, but my Uncle had a one-button-push kill for Ruby that went something like this: Counter-summon+KOTR (master) Final Attack+Phoenix (master) MP Turbo+Master Summon All There were other bits and bobs, like Counter-magic+Ultima, Counter-attack+X Attack, etc.., but there was some kind of crossover glitch, at least on my first-run version of the game, where the MP Turbo would trigger for the counter-summoned KOTR even though it was attached to Master Summon All. He said 'watch this,' summoned KOTR once, then literally went into the kitchen and made us sammiches while I watched slack-jawed as Cloud tore Ruby apart.. But this video's got some much more efficient ways that don't require dozens of hours of grinding to max out all that materia.
Thank you i mixed some methods together. Here's my set (Obviously 2 characters are dead) Cloud - Ultima weapon + Fire Armlet + Ribbon 4 copies of mime+counter (mime+counter mime+counter mime+counter mime+counter) (all on Ultima weapon) fire Armlet for healing for his fire attack holds, Revive+final attack, HP+ and W-Item Start with an elixir and a hero drink (you can wait to get hit to spam hero drinks when you get hit to do max damage) then use omnislash wait for cloud to counter and he will use omnislash 4 times everytime he is hit if you die and get revived (you will) then use an elixir and a hero drink or dazers. Untill you have omnislash again use it and wait to counter and make me it. Repeat this and you kill ruby weapon. Keep in mind that you might do random stuff with the counter mime combo but it will work if you use the right things. Very simple. this is my easiest idea I made.
As a kid I defeated Ruby but could never beat Emerald :( I beat Ruby in my last turn with only Yuffie, couldn't do anything else and then I threw a bunch of Gil at it and it died xD
The no-button materia assignment didn't work for me as I would eventually run out of summons, so I maxed out a third Final Attack materia and combined it with a second maxed out KOTR materia, and that did the trick. Thank you!
Schools are made for learning to use the tools you have in order to be successful. The game itself gives you the tools and explanations. It's Your responsibility in order to figure out how to use the tools you have in order to be successful... this video is just a handholding experience for people who shouldn't be playing these games in the first place.
@@fafnirchaos0711 Wow, and here we have someone who I bet doesn't appreciate the difference and significance between Intelligence and Creativity. You can be the most intelligent and educated person, and know every detail to the Nth degree... then along comes a person, who isn't anywhere near as intelligent, and out of mere creativity solves the same problem simply and differently. Tis the rarest of all Genius when someone contains excessive levels of both. Merely being intelligent doesn't mean much, Merely being creative doesn't mean much either, it's the ebb and flow between the two that generates the wild and vast landscape of inventions, knowledge, systems, etc... that we have today. Not one or the other, but both. It's at your own peril that you decide to *waste* the potential of the creative in order to focus on the intelligent.
me and friend learned that if you use Hades it will stun the tentacles well basically put stop on them and Ruby then you can knights around the s*** out of him using Knights of round and mime materia since he stopped he can't counter attack with Ultima you just have to watch for when the tentacle start to move to recast Hades
Way I did it, W summon, knights of the round, mimic, megalixers a lot, final attack junctioned with Phoenix (or revive, whichever you prefer). Haste really helps
OMG! Thank you. At the time I couldn’t come up with solutions. I didn’t have the mindset that devs designed with always somehow providing a solution. So when I accidentally stumbled into the final battle with Sephiroth, and won after a loooong time... I was done with the game. Except for the undefeated Weapons... It’s bothered me for years and years. So thank you!!! (And big thanks to the devs for such a wonderful game!!!)
Im pissed that this is the first time youtube recomended this video for me btw thanks for this video it makes me wanna play the original after the recent release of the remake
I used none of the tactics expressed here back in 1997. I simply went through the grind until I had 3 maxed out final attack materias, had one/two characters with pair that with Phoenix, while the other(s) had Knights of the round. This fight was over quickly, so I never gained the reverence for the character that everyone else got... but truth be told, he also sucked my team down 3 or 4 times before figuting out the right configuration of materia. It was more than 20 years ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy.
You're SUPPOSED to fight Ruby using Hades. The people you run into outright tell you there's materia to fight the Weapons with right before you find it.
Your "shortcut" method has an even shorter shortcut. :) My preferred Ruby-Bashing method is the following: Counter-Mime W-Summon KotR-HP Absorb I think there might have been a few other requirements, but I don't think so. Same as you said, kill the other two party members. Wait for Ruby to plant his tentacles. Then double-cast KotR. Actually, double-cast isn't even necessary, to be honest. The battle proceeds automatically from there. Ruby counters KotR with Ultima, Cloud/whoever counters Ultima with Mime and recasts KotR, fully healing. Ruby counters with Ultima, you counter with Mime. Back and forth until Ruby is dead. I would usually make my lunch during the battle.
I definitely abused his weakness to Paralysis to kill him. I played FF7 18 years ago with my brother, and we only ever beat Emerald. I beat both of them in my first try last night thanks to your videos. I used my own variation on your strats based on some fun I had during my Battle Square grind for Omnislash and W-Summon. Knights of the Round/Magic Counter + Mime/Counter x2... it's really all I had to do, used only one Mime/Counter against Emerald. I opened with Hades into Phoenix for the Revive on the party, then kept him down with Hades (which I had on Magic Counter on Cid) and was even able to get off a W-Summon Knights into Mimed W-Summon Knights while he was stunned from a counter, he died from that because I'd already used a Hero Drink on Cloud while also using Megalixirs everytime someone got hit. It made my childhood to be able to slay these beasts as adults so easily, thank you.
Dude, Seriously! I'm going to save this as my favorites! I don't remember back in the day how I even killed Ruby but it took me FOREVER! (Was pissed when I just got a desert rose) and Emerald was impossible for me, so I never killed Emerald yet. I will get my revenge! I just downloaded FF7 too! lol This video helps ALOT!! I want to kill Ruby while making a sandwich like a boss!
Gaming4U2B If you don't know what the desert rose does, you give it to the kalm traveler for a gold chocobo. Also I noticed you just started your own gaming channel, so I wish you luck and all the best. Also what type of sandwich, this is important information.
I remember I was spamming Emerald with Demi3 combined with quadra magic and w-magic. As soon as demi damage fell below 9999 I started going with other spells and bam, Emerald defeated. I was so proud of myself... I don't remember how I dealt with Ruby though :(
Honestly, i didnt have a hard time with any of the vii weapons. The Final Fantasy VIII weapons, however...dont think i ever beat Omega Weapon... PS: Hades helps allot. It wreaks ruby weapons stats
I just use Cait Sith's game over trick to defeat all the tough bosses, but for all these years, I never knew that reflect actually works on Shadow Flare. That's good to know because Ultima Weapon always casts it before he dies, and that makes one character miss out on all the exp and ap.
Ruby is so easy, you just Quadra Cast Hades and W-Summon Knights of the round with mime on everyone, go make a sandwich and when you come back the boss is dead.
This morning at 2am, I finally defeated my childhood and killed emerald and ruby weapon. And I used your guide to do it. Thank you for everything. If you find yourself in Nashville I will give you a free final fantasy 7 tattoo.
Nice tutorial. Back in the day, I killed Ruby using HP Absorb + KOTR, Mime + Counter. I casted KOTR once, healed for 9,999, and then every time Ruby hit me, I mimed that and did it again. Just need some HP plus to not die in one hit, and a Ribbon to avoid status problems ;)
I 100% beat the game last week in 45 hours on the PS4. The x3 option and No Fights option help a lot! Also, it was SOOOOO much easier after watching all of 4-8's videos on materia combos.
And that's when I realized a knew nothing about this game..
You just summarized everything that was going through my mind, brother.
i thought i was boss at this game man do i feel like a small man now ; ;
same here....man my whole childhood its been a lie.
Kill 2 characters, Final Attack Life 2, add absorb hp and mp to whatever summon or magic you use and GG.
This was like the easiest weapon. I bet it at 8 years old first time 😂
The single most amazing thing in this video is that you found a genuine use for the HPMP materia.
It is also good if you want to get your limit breaks up quickly since the less HP you have the higher your limit break goes. I used it to get Tifa's limit break to level 4 so she could learn final heaven before the final boss.
honestly thought you wee gunna be like before the 2nd disk or something lol
Its an ancient chinese secret materia... PFFFT!!!!
Easy peasy.
I ground the crap out of Midgar so I could use Meteorain on Rufus. Took out both him and Dark Nation in one hit. That felt good.

I was never able to beat emerald"no" idea about the materia trick" but ruby seemed easy, beat him without leveling before the third disk at lvl 50ish.. I think i got lucky because he'd always knock out two characters before warping my team out.. I even remember the reward, a nice sward for cloud.
....I .... just beat Ruby weapon without dying... WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU 18 YEARS AGO?!
(Squall Leonhart) Donnie 18 years? It's been that long already...
He was on Earthlink or Netscape prolly
since its release in 1997 its been 21 years
Ikr!?!
Dont think you can beat ruby with dying ;)
heres a silly tip : did you know that ultima weapon & ruby weapon can run out of MP?
For ultima weapon if he runs out of MP, hes completly useless! (but that doesnt matter because hes the weakest) he also wont hit you with his final attack when hes dead!
For ruby weapon if he runs out of MP he wil only use his ruby flame/ray etc and his tentacel attacks..
And for emerald weapon... Wel he doesnt run out of MP!
i know this is silly & useless... But its still fun to mess around with ultima weapon if he runs out of MP. lol
yes i used magic hammer about 25 times :) when all 3 characters have the full list of enemyskills its almost impossible to die
This was helpful as fuck
For Ultima, you don't want him to run out, otherwise you miss out on Shadow Flare until the end of the North Crater. For Emerald, I don't think any of his attacks even use MP.
23 years later, people are still thanking you for this, especially me! thank you so much brudda! i really appreciate it! Successful years ahead of you always!
When I beat Ruby and Emerald, no one cared... But I still remember!
Pepperidge Farms remembers
Same lol. I remember you only get the gemstone after you beat them.
GRIMLOCK07 this happened to me in the Hojo fight where I was getting my a$$ handed to me by his last form.
cool story bro
That wasnt a battle. That was a war.
Good times.
Lucky 7's baaaby..
Step 1 - Character 1: W-Summon Hades/Knights
Step 2 - Character 2: Mimic W-Summon Knights/Knights
Step 3 - Wait until paralyze wears off
Step 4 - Repeat until dead
Because Ruby counters Knights with Ultima, you normally can't use it to cheese the battle.
Hell a Megalixer would be more useful at this point.
can you use added effect paired with ultima on your armor to negate ultima?
@@upfordebate7247 no, sadly. You could try Shield materia or Mbarrier, though.
Omnislash yw 😂😆😂
My tactics exactly. Once beat it, hades was cast by accident. Rinse and repeated until victory. Dont really know any alternatives to this day 😁
That gold chocobo prize is definitely a troll at that point
The one and only time I fought Ruby Weapon, I had Cait Sith in the party on Limit Break. Used Slots, came up 3x Cait Sith, Ruby Weapon dead. Had no idea how tough this boss actually was until years later. Three cheers for dumb luck.
cait sith's only redemption.
EXACTLY HOW I DID IT
That was how I defeated Safer Sephiroth on my first playthrough.
@@chesspunk489 That's astonishing....There's more than one person who actually kept Cait Sith in the party voluntarily?
@@NineBreakerUIXB I swear it happened. I was very underleveled and I kept losing to him over and over. Then wouldn't you know it I got the death slot machine and it killed him. That was how I first beat the game way back in the day.
I can't believe I figured out how to defeat him back in 97 when I was 13 years old without internet......
That's true dedication my friend. I just recently beat em both for the first time without RUclips strategies and it felt great to do it my own way
True me too hades is the best way you can even cast him before the tentacles and just stunning him and use knight 10 minutes later can be dead lol
I had the strategy guide because I’m a lame 😂
Sure, kid... I'm sure you did.
@@Danny__Noble I had action Replay max Im a Cheater ;)
i like how in final fantasy even if your as powerfull as you can get the super bosses are still insanely challenging
Partial spoiler. If only they dropped better stuff. You do not even need material to beat the game boss.
@peefromtmv What for? I can beat the game with less than that. FF7 is linear to be challenging. The enemies should not be push overs. These days the stats of them can stay equal with the player and/or higher. Smash Melee has the Cruel Melee and that is unwinnable.
The ONLY enemy I couldn't defeat in this game when I was younger. That last example you gave was epic, you deserve an award for that!
Glad to hear I have helped!
Me too
It’s still easier to just solo him with Cloud imo.
Yuffies better for beating ruby weapon as her weapon does damage depending on strength of the opponent or something like that.
I'll be doing this method tomorrow on live stream. This was fun to watch bro. Good job
Hello
I finally beat him with dazer and hero drink!
Killing the weapons only to get W-Summon, only to figure out all big bosses are dead at that point and there is no reason to have W-Summon..
you should have got it from the battle square, appears easier to me.
You can dig for it at the fossil site
No Killing emerald and Ruby give Key items that grant access to master materia, duhh lol.
You get w-summon at gold saucer...
Congrats on your marriage man. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, that means a lot!
After using his entire life to beat ruby. The whole world of womans came up to his door to marry him after the defeat.
That "do nothing" combination works like a charm!!! YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!
You, sir, have truly mastered materia. For the first time ever, from 1997 to today, I have FINALLY beaten Ruby Weapon.
To realize that there was an enemy in the game that was that hard so early on made the rest of the game more exciting.
ruby doesn't stick his head out of the ground until you kill ultimate weapon on disc 3
You can kill them on disc 2 too.
Ruby only appears in Disc 3, which is late game??
@@They_are_Arthur You guys are right. I'm thinking of the sand snake that you encounter early on. And then encountering the Ruby later in the game when you think you're a badass and get stomped to the ground

@Joe Brown yeah I think Jrpg in general have an easier time on handheld console. Cause on ps4 or Xbox one, people tend to stick with AAA titles more. That explains why back in the days, the ps vita was home to multiple JRPG in general
they have steam now a nd ff7 on ps4 and pc.
I just downloaded the FF7 port for Xbox and will been religiously watching all your FF7 videos! So thankyou for the help.
I didn't know ff7 was on xbox !

play through it once without guides or anything then go back and redo with help. You loose all the intamacy of the game by using guides
I attempted the ultimate no button strategy walked away to make a sandwich literally and came back to a game over screen...
then i tried again and was able to make a pork n rice dinner while the game beat both weapons and finished itself XDD
Me too. Tried few attempts and not working
I beat him during my teen years and i'm 37 now and having a harder time beating him lol

Master final attack and mix it with phoenix to get revive on death

Doooooone!!! Using the Dazzers trick I have done it! Emerald yesterday and Ruby tonight! BOOM! 22 years and I finally beat him. Massive thank you x
I killed both weapons with Cait Siths casino limit. I would just go into the fight with it ready and then if it missed I would restart the game.
Same and you can have all the shittiest materia on with triple AP. Good Times haha
did it with vincent
still not quite got round to the technique i used, printed in a magazine back in 1997, that requires almost no button presses.
knock out your two weakest characters before the fight begins. equip ribbon your main dude. Get your HP up to 9999 through HP Plus (or levelling)
Link knights of the round to mastered hp absorb
and
link a mastered counter command to mime.
when the fight starts, cast KOTR.
everytime he attacks, you counter with mime, which is KOTR, which returns you to max health. Boosh, dead.
Thanks dude! actually your technique works better, because im in the ps4 version and the sandwich technique does not work...
Shoot it once in the face with Vincent Valentine. Works with any enemy in the game.
There it is! That was my technique also. Worked on Ruby and Emerald. The phoenix/final attack combo was a necessary addition for Emerald though.
Wow that last materia combo. Sick. I’m doing another play through now and am going to try this. I’ll open a beer, kick back and enjoy the show.
David Meyer pretty sure hero drinks only stack up to 4 times
Great. I'm actually playing again in the PSVita before the Remake comes out. It'll be very usefull 22 years later.
That was my combo. Final attack and phoenix was awesome!
Thanks to this channel I was able to beat both Emerald and Ruby.
Solo Cloud using Knights of the Round pair HP Absorb/ Phoenix pair Final Attack(just in case)/ Mime- Weapon
Hades pair W-Summon/ Ultima in Armor Slot using "Fire Armlet" and "Ribbon"
1st round- W-Summon= Hades then Knights of the Round /2nd - 8th round just hit Mime = Dead Ruby Weapon!
Hey at least you were hardcore
Kane Smith Yeah, I guess, but holy God did I spend an ass-load of time figuring out how to kill him!
yep same hours and hours spent killing them pair of bastards.
I can't remember the exact methods I used but it was with one character then Kotr paired with Hp absorb, mime and final attack.
Thanks for the support!
"WE'LL SHOW HIM-"
"Nyah" (yeets weapon and misses)
"Shet."
I used W-Summon with Hades and Knights of the Round, then mimed it over and over again. When he killed my ass, the final attack linked with Phoenix brought them all back. Then it was rinse and repeat.
Just started playing ff7 again after so many years. I am loving your vids man!!! Subbed!!!
* after no button pressing strategy* and that’s when ruby realized, he fucked up.
I'm really excited for the remake, but something tells me it's going to be very easy to kill the weapons...
Once you've done that, equip cloud as such:
- KOTR combined with HP Absorb
- Counter combined with mime
- Hp materia to get to 9999 HP
-Throw in a magic materia to get to 255 magic or at least close to that.
Enter either fight, cast KOTR, then proceed to go and make a sandwich. 2 button clicks, 2 boss kills. Of course on emerald weapon make sure your other 2 characters have no materia equipped. No underwater materia is required either, nor any materia leveling or any real source farming (although some might be needed to make sure you dont get 1 hit by either boss)
So I call this the maximum cheese minimum effort class act super guide technique of destiny. I hope you enjoy. I know I did
And yes, I just liked my own comment. Deal with it
Nice trick man (:
Here, have an upvote
I remember beating Ruby Weapon entering the battle with 3 characters, then leaving Tifa as the sole character to fight him. Something about her limit breaks were the reason.
Easy pick for my.fav RUclipsr/streamer. What a chill dude. Hoping to sub and patreon soon!
Cross slash saved the day for me. Kept him stunned and had Cid cast KOTR over and over (Master Summon). Thanks for the stun strategy. Both weapons smoked me as a kid in 1998. Finally beat them 22 years later (Ps4 boost modes 😛)
This man video editing was ahead of his time
I have bad memories with this boss. I used to play this game with my dad when I was younger and we spent literal weeks trying to beat him. Then on the day we do beat him after we win the fight with one party member alive. We get into a fight with one of those flying wizard dudes and he pulls out joker, insta killing cloud, my final party member before we saved
trolled
Something Death forgot to mention here. When Ruby is stunned with dazers the tentacles won't attack you because Ruby inputs their commands.
Same for Slow.
Yep
Here's another way to defeat Ruby with all party members alive:

this bit embarrassing I gave up playing ff7 back in 97 thinking it was a boring game. took my copy and put it away. now that the remake is out I went and began playing ff7 again after 23 years. just beat emerald and ruby weapon using some of the tricks from this videos {thanks for them.}and just realize that I miss one great game back in 97. can't wait to play the remake. thanks for your videos were of great help.
Great video! I love FF7. One of my favorite games of all time.
so many bad memories.. i rember a friend of mine, beating ruby, bragging that its mega easy and then telling me, that he used the lucky 7 for it. it was the first time for me that i understood was cheesing really was because in my eyes, thats nothing to be proud of but the only thing that counted for him was, that ruby is dead
Worked like a charm, excellent work!! Thanks dude, subbed!
I don't remember all the details, but my Uncle had a one-button-push kill for Ruby that went something like this:
Counter-summon+KOTR (master)
Final Attack+Phoenix (master)
MP Turbo+Master Summon All
There were other bits and bobs, like Counter-magic+Ultima, Counter-attack+X Attack, etc.., but there was some kind of crossover glitch, at least on my first-run version of the game, where the MP Turbo would trigger for the counter-summoned KOTR even though it was attached to Master Summon All.
Here's my set
(Obviously 2 characters are dead) Cloud - Ultima weapon + Fire Armlet + Ribbon 4 copies of
mime+counter (mime+counter mime+counter mime+counter mime+counter) (all on Ultima weapon) fire Armlet for healing for his fire attack holds, Revive+final attack, HP+ and W-Item
Start with an elixir and a hero drink (you can wait to get hit to spam hero drinks when you get hit to do max damage) then use omnislash wait for cloud to counter and he will use omnislash 4 times everytime he is hit if you die and get revived (you will) then use an elixir and a hero drink or dazers. Untill you have omnislash again use it and wait to counter and make me it. Repeat this and you kill ruby weapon. Keep in mind that you might do random stuff with the counter mime combo but it will work if you use the right things. Very simple. this is my easiest idea I made.
As a kid I defeated Ruby but could never beat Emerald :(
I beat Ruby in my last turn with only Yuffie, couldn't do anything else and then I threw a bunch of Gil at it and it died xD
Just a heads up, Ruby can use Whirl-sand with his tentacles up on his 25th and 32nd turn.
Holy shit. I could have used this back in 1997.
Wow. You actually got to figured up the all the ways around ruby!
What a good game. Thanks for sharing.
The no-button materia assignment didn't work for me as I would eventually run out of summons, so I maxed out a third Final Attack materia and combined it with a second maxed out KOTR materia, and that did the trick. Thank you!
where was this video in 1998?! Seriously I now feel like giving Emerald and Ruby another chance.

me and friend learned that if you use Hades it will stun the tentacles well basically put stop on them and Ruby then you can knights around the s*** out of him using Knights of round and mime materia since he stopped he can't counter attack with Ultima you just have to watch for when the tentacle start to move to recast Hades
Thank you! I followed the radical No Button Pressing Method and just beat Ruby Weapon for the first time and got the trophy on PS4. Childhood avenged!
You're my hero and yes, I'm playing this again.
Im pissed that this is the first time youtube recomended this video for me btw thanks for this video it makes me wanna play the original after the recent release of the remake
I'm more impressed by the fact that you found a legit use for hp-mp materia!
What does Hades do though? From what I saw it was a bunch of status effects which, aside from paralyze, are all useless against the weapons.
@@Blasted2Oblivion don't mind him he didn't know what he was talking about
@Blasted2Oblivion it's guaranteed to paralyze. That's huge in this fight
Ive been doing the lucky seven way for the longest I can remember.... Probley the best n quickest way of killing him easy
What do you get from the lucky sevens, what does it do?
You left out one-shotting Ruby Weapon with Cait Sith's Game Over limit break.
I actually did that. 12SRs.
Your "shortcut" method has an even shorter shortcut. :)
My preferred Ruby-Bashing method is the following:
Counter-Mime
W-Summon
KotR-HP Absorb
I think there might have been a few other requirements, but I don't think so.
This worked perfectly. Thanks for posting.
Peanut Butter and Jelly!!! hahaha
13 seconds .. congratulations man, wish you guys all the happiness
I just use Cait Sith's game over trick to defeat all the tough bosses, but for all these years, I never knew that reflect actually works on Shadow Flare. That's good to know because Ultima Weapon always casts it before he dies, and that makes one character miss out on all the exp and ap.
welp, I finally killed ruby after all these years, thanks to DeathUnitesUs's Restless Research Regimen™
Ruby is so easy, you just Quadra Cast Hades and W-Summon Knights of the round with mime on everyone, go make a sandwich and when you come back the boss is dead.
The final attack materia should be pheonix
Mobius Fernald that’s what I did
Mobius Fernald it revived me many times
This morning at 2am, I finally defeated my childhood and killed emerald and ruby weapon. And I used your guide to do it. Thank you for everything. If you find yourself in Nashville I will give you a free final fantasy 7 tattoo.
Nice tutorial. Back in the day, I killed Ruby using HP Absorb + KOTR, Mime + Counter. I casted KOTR once, healed for 9,999, and then every time Ruby hit me, I mimed that and did it again. Just need some HP plus to not die in one hit, and a Ribbon to avoid status problems ;)
Now I want to waste hundreds of hours of my life on this game again...thanks...ass...lol
I 100% beat the game last week in 45 hours on the PS4. The x3 option and No Fights option help a lot! Also, it was SOOOOO much easier after watching all of 4-8's videos on materia combos.
Haha rt
avenge my broken controllers
