- In this video I show a couple cheap and effective mods for your car or truck that anyone can do. I show how to install VViViD's Light Smoke Headlight film on a pair of GMC Sierra AT4 headlights and a 3rd brake light. Disclaimer - Tinting any of your lights is not legal. This is for educational purposes only. I also apply some vinyl film to my grill emblem! Thank you to one of my daughters for the help!

Hi Greg, Sorry I thought I answered this. Make sure you cut your piece big enough so you can stretch material over the edges
Hey Don I can’t thank you enough with all you videos and mods you’ve done. I have a 2019 sierra Denali and I’ve done a couple of mods and thanks to you it made it a lot easier to do. I’ve been trying to find yellow fog lights and can’t find anyone who makes them. So I tinted them yellow but I’m not satisfied. You have any ideas?
Hey there, I would have suggested a tint film too. I don’t know of anyone that makes replacement fog lamp lenses in yellow for these trucks

Most of the mods I have done would be considered warranty safe. That being said there are laws in the US and Canada to help protect consumers when installing non OEM parts. Of course the service department is ran by people who may be more or less resistant to each repair situation. You’ll find many reports of people in forums that were approved for warranty and denied warranty for the exact same reason too.

Thank you for watching the videos. One way that I did it was with a mod that BoostAutoParts sells. It allows your to change the default setting to have auto start/stop on or off when you first turn on the vehicle
Where can I buy the tools you used to tuck the vinyl on the letters? I watch the video for the headlights but the emblems really look nice! I have a white 21 elevation
You can find tons on amazon if you search vinyl wrap tools. They have various names like micro squeegee

Sorry, I don’t have a specific contact. Avery sw900 is one of the easiest to use for small detailed areas. A quick search on Amazon or Google should help.

I don’t think removing it would benefit you. The air intake uses its own ducting too
Friend of mine just had his gmc sierra at4 2021 go into limp mode reduced power mode transmission dead at 70k km. 43k miles...
I wish we had an indoor car wash, but I guess living down south, we can pretty much wash out cars outside all year round without worrying about how cold it is.
My biggest concern is the tint on the headlights. It's just a plastic film. It seems like over time it would start to peel with the harshness of everyday driving, not to mention the suns UV rays. That's a lot of work if it doesn't last. The vinyl will last on the emblem because it's more durable. Outlining the headlights with vinyl tape would also look good.

The vinyl you’re using here, is this the same stuff you might but at Michaels or a craft store. I have vinyl I use in my cricket cutter for airbrushing custom sneakers. This looks the same, just making sure.
My wife has a Cricut Maker 3 and the vinyl is different but sometimes compatible from what I know. The vinyl I use is designed for automotive applications and usually needs pressure and/or heat to activate the adhesive. VVIVID, Avery and 3M are the brands I have used most often.
So how long do you think that white vinyl tape on your GMC emblem would last in hotter climates?
I think it will last a 2-3 years if the edges are tucked and protected well. The avery vinyl I used takes a lot of post heating to activate the adhesive so I know it can handle hot climates. The cost is so low to replace too. If it wasn’t white, fading would be more of a concern for me.
Can't understand why this film is used to cover the headlights? Fire protection or just for fun? I can't see a much difference in the new look. I would never tint the headlights since lightning is vital during night driving!
I got almost done with one headlight and thought it was great, but I trimmed too much of the tint and ended up with wrinkles in the corner!! You make this stuff look way too easy. I realized I absolutely need a second set of hands with the heat gun, but that i also need to really get the edges done before trimming. So close!

What percent tint did you use for the rear/third break light?
Hi Erika, The tint I used is made by Vvivid and it only comes in two shades. Light and dark. I used Light smoke. I hope that helps.
Curious….with the third brake light having the camera and light did you cover those as well with the tint?
No I cut out for them as I was wrapping the area

It is called a GMC illuminated emblem. Made by GMC and available in black or red. Mine was black and I vinyl wrapped the letters white. I have a couple videos about it on my channel

Funny you ask. I have been thinking about wrapping mine something similar. I don’t know of a close match at this time though

The tint is called Light Smoke by Vvivid. I am not sure 🤔 of the percentage. Also is doesn’t seem to inhibit anything other than the side reflector. I don’t have any immediate plans to tint the actual lights

VViViD’s Light Smoke in the video. But recently I switched to Dark Smoke and like it better. I didn’t use Hex at all. I didn’t want the honeycomb pattern.

Is the vinyl automatic car wash friendly?
Yes it won’t hurt the automatic car wash. Kidding, the edges are the only area that if not properly installed, they could allow moisture in behind. I prefer to use a pressure washer wand myself so my spray pattern is controlled by me.
Do you think it matters what percentage of Alcohol you use to clean before spraying the HyperDip
Not overly if used properly. Anything more that 70% can present a higher risk to existing finish/clearcoat.
Man this is why i moved out of the northeast. That is not a way to live. Love the summers all 3 weeks of them!!

Yes they are stock. I really like them since the brackets are pretty much flush
