I'll be 60 this year. Right after I enter the workforce was when I saw industrial America start to go into decline. I can remember being with one of my uncles in a truck the first time I went into a steel mill in the 70s. After we came in the main gate and we were driving along a road I was looking at all the big buildings and I asked him which one was the steel mill. He said the whole place, and I had a hard time believing it. There were roads and traffic lights and bridges and rail yards and a hospital and ships getting unloaded at a pier, they have their own fire department, and police department, and all kinds of bridges, I absolutely had no idea that a steel mill was the size of a small City. Now when you tell kids about Americans past industrial might there isn't even a steel mill to show them so they can grasp thescale of American manufacturing as it was done back in the day

@vanwags Hey! My sister wants to know what the song is called in which you sing about the chickens in your yard. We are a part of Camp Flamingo by the way. She says you played it at a pick session last year?

The Franklin Furnace was just up the road from us in South Point Ohio..there were Many Many Blast Furnaces in southern Ohio
I've hauled a lot of Winfield limestone, mill slag and scrap iron from the once great mills which were demolished and sold for scrap.
Great tune. 1:44 the row of homes, second one yellow was my grand fathers and is now owned by my Uncle.
that is really cool man. Thanks for commenting.
This makes me said. It truly sucks that industry has declined.
