More than 2000 km from my city lisbon to wacken with my wife , my brother and my sister-in-law to see the festival and i can tell you : im 54 years old , i see concerts since my 17 , i saw iron maiden at least 10 times , mettallica , ac/dc, rammstein , pink floyd , rolling stones , bon jovi , queen, etc . You feel the same vibe than queen shows ( maybe higher) i was mesmerized since the third song ( she's my sin) and i think i did the whole show in transe , my wife went in crazy mode ( i have a brasilian wife 20 years younger than me , she as more 2 years than my first daughter and is the only person i know who loves nightwish more than me ) the next day and i know why we couldn't talk cause we crash our voices in the show. The magic is real , be in that crowd ( more than 82000 persons) was something we can't explain .the video is amazing but we must be there to feel and everything we can say is nothing comparing to see a live show .3 years later i saw them in my city lisbon , another crowd , another stage , the same magic. I'm happy for anyone that was there because it is perhaps the most epic concert I've seen (I have the BluRay discs) and I've been to a lot of concerts in my 66 years. Nightwish, as a whole is, a phenomenal band with A+ musicians and a genius composer (Tuomas). Floor is in a league of her own. In all, the most talented band I've seen in the past 25 years. Congratulations my friend.

This was song number 13/15 in this concert. Most vocalist would want a song as demanding as this to be much earlier in the setlist. Floor's singing technique and breath control are top level.
Floor Jansen is quite possibly the greatest, most powerful and versatile female vocalist you will ever hear or see. Yes, there is some sort of magic surrounding her. There isn't anything she can't sing - from straight opera to death growls - she can do it all and give you chills and goosebumps doing it.

I don't know what they have in the water in the Netherlands, but the sheer number of incredible female vocalists from there is insane! Floor, Tarja, Simone, Anneke, The Og3ne ladies, Sharon, and so on!
NIghtwish are just superb live. That's their heart. They just want to be up there entertaining the audience. They don't just play music, they put on a show. I still remember coming out of the Wembley show and having to sit down on some steps outside, saying to my wife "That was just the greatest gig ever" (that I'd been to). Btw,,, this was Wacken, which is a festival in Germany. So all those fans weren't necessarily NIghtwish fans. But for those 90 odd minutes,... the ALL were. That's how good they are.

Nightwish’s 3rd and current female vocalist is Floor Jansen. She was born in the Netherlands on Februari 21st, 1981. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) the background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took the lead until early 2009. Parallel she studied at the Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. Her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. You just witnessed the first Song of NW that Floor worked over, expanding on Tuomass' genius scoring.. Mind you, in Wacken, 2013 she still was 'just', the relieve vocalist... @@HighlyCombustibleReacts For "Song Of Myself" May I recommend the version posted by Gabriel Bardac who mashed up the live performance from this show with the poem which in the studio version is a part of and follows the singing, and is normally shown on the screen during live perormances but which you can't catch in the video. If you read a few of the comments underneath it first, you will understand why. I'll also add their set opener, "Dark Chest Of Wonders" to the list. Heck, anything on this setlist that there isn't a better performance or recording of elsewhere (which you can be sure we'll warn you of) - "I Want My Tears Back" is an example of which there is a better recording from Benos Aires 2018, where the audience add an energy which is unsurpassed. Other than that and the mashup version of "Song Of Myself", you could do worse than just following the setlist in order - they created it that way at least partly to capture new fans at festivals, as well as work well in that order for concerts to existing fans. I've worked festivals (I met m wife at one) and it takes a heck of a lot of people to build and run an event that size. well into four figures, and maybe (depending on legal requirements of the country as many as five figures - a number which has risen over the years as licensing conditions have got stricter). Normally, the audience have a choice of several bands to watch, but the headlining band, who close the show, enjoy exclusivity, with no other stages active at the same time. In 2013, that was Nightwish. So you have a mixed crowd, not all there to see or hear Nightwish, and you have to get their attention fast before they wander off - Alice Cooper had just finished on the adjacent stage (the two main stages alternate to allow the band's crews set-up time without long gaps between performances) and you want to make sure people don't head off to party on the campsites (as people tend to at festivals when there isn't any band playing which interests them). I don't think many did during this performance!

Whenever we used to go to festivals like that, you always went back to the tents to hang out until the bands you wanted to see came on. I can imagine if you heard that sound from afar, you'd definitely want to go see what the hell was going on!

While I wasn't there in person then, I have been there a thousand times via these live videos and reactions. These have been cut in a way, that it always feels like I am part of the audience listening to them live The keyboardist (not organs, but he uses 3 keyboards with a huge range of instruments he plays with them) is the magic of this band. He composes and writes 95% of their songs, and he just kidnaps you on a magical music journey without you even realizing what is happening. Floor (the vocalist) is the bait

The stage-dressing pipes are a stylesed keyboard stand inspired by the Sibelius monument in Helsinki. The same theme is reflected on the opposite side of the stage where a smaller stand is used for Troy to hold his whistles while he plays other instruments. Tuomas'keyboard stand incorporates lighting, a wine bottle holder, his 3 keyboards, and plumbing or pyro, although this is used sparingly as he has to be leaning backwards for it to be safe.

"She just went from a sweet little girl to something harder!" Bro, you just had your first Floorgasm! Floor Jansen is beyond any doubt the greatest female vocalist of all time! Her range and tones along with her ability to seamlessly shift to any style she wants in the blink of an eye makes her unique among the greats. With all the vocals tools at her disposal she can inject any emotion she wishes at any point in a song keeping the audience fully and constantly engaged. I skipped over Nightwish songs for a very long time. The other singers the band were good but one delivered a constant "opera" style that was not for my taste. I get that some people really liked that but it wasn't for me. The second singer in the band was just ok with a rather thin pop tone quality who couldn't deliver in a live show. I gave up on the band and stopped listening. I only recently discovered that Nightwish changed singers again and decided to give them another try. I was late to the game at that point as Floor had been with Nightwish for years. Well, better late then never! Immediately upon hearing the band with Floor my reaction was... OMG, finally a voice that completes the Nightwish sound in every single way. I am now completely obsessed with Nightwish and with Floor... AMAZING!!

Floor hit ultra instinct that night in 2013 I was there witnessed the goddess. What's really impressive about this song was its the second to the last song played at the concert what's even cooler she even reacted to herself singing this song on RUclips as well you should check it out.
I has going to be at Wacken, but we had family emergency just then. So I waited and went to Tampere concert. It was a banger concert too. And as Finnish it was only 250km from my home.

I always have the feeling that people who have read books simply are unable to enjoy stuff that is more or less just .. lets say inspired .. by those books and have flame it to death on IMDB. The great thing about Nightwish. You get the same show regardless if it's a crowd of 82000 or 800. Lucky enough to see them live twice. Once in Tarja era. Once in Floors era. Both times were life changing experiences.

Nightwish’s 3rd and current female vocalist is Floor Jansen. She was born in the Netherlands on Februari 21st, 1981. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) the background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took the lead until early 2009. Parallel she studied at the Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. Her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer.
Nightwish, After Forever and ReVamp worked under the same record label Nuclear Blast.

@@HighlyCombustibleReacts For "Song Of Myself" May I recommend the version posted by Gabriel Bardac who mashed up the live performance from this show with the poem which in the studio version is a part of and follows the singing, and is normally shown on the screen during live perormances but which you can't catch in the video.
If you read a few of the comments underneath it first, you will understand why.
I'll also add their set opener, "Dark Chest Of Wonders" to the list.
Heck, anything on this setlist that there isn't a better performance or recording of elsewhere (which you can be sure we'll warn you of) - "I Want My Tears Back" is an example of which there is a better recording from Benos Aires 2018, where the audience add an energy which is unsurpassed. Other than that and the mashup version of "Song Of Myself", you could do worse than just following the setlist in order - they created it that way at least partly to capture new fans at festivals, as well as work well in that order for concerts to existing fans. Wacken Open Air is a rock festival in Germany and the whole festival is in what are open fields for grazing cattle the rest of the year, (hence their emblem being the bulls head) but in which a medium sized town is created, with multiple stages, catering, merchandise, bars and all the other facilities needed by an attendance of 82,000 ticket holders and the several thousand workers who build and manage the festival for those few days then clean it all up and make it safe for grazing cattle on afterwards. I've worked festivals (I met m wife at one) and it takes a heck of a lot of people to build and run an event that size. well into four figures, and maybe (depending on legal requirements of the country as many as five figures - a number which has risen over the years as licensing conditions have got stricter).
Normally, the audience have a choice of several bands to watch, but the headlining band, who close the show, enjoy exclusivity, with no other stages active at the same time. In 2013, that was Nightwish.
So you have a mixed crowd, not all there to see or hear Nightwish, and you have to get their attention fast before they wander off - Alice Cooper had just finished on the adjacent stage (the two main stages alternate to allow the band's crews set-up time without long gaps between performances) and you want to make sure people don't head off to party on the campsites (as people tend to at festivals when there isn't any band playing which interests them). I don't think many did during this performance!

@@phillee2814 It is bewitching for sure. That is the kind of music that would call listeners back to the show from their tents I'm thinking. Whenever we used to go to festivals like that, you always went back to the tents to hang out until the bands you wanted to see came on. I can imagine if you heard that sound from afar, you'd definitely want to go see what the hell was going on!
If it hasn't already been mentioned, this was the 3rd-from-last song, 90 minutes into the set, and her voice is still in top shape, with two more songs after this one

While I wasn't there in person then, I have been there a thousand times via these live videos and reactions. These have been cut in a way, that it always feels like I am part of the audience listening to them live
The keyboardist (not organs, but he uses 3 keyboards with a huge range of instruments he plays with them) is the magic of this band. He composes and writes 95% of their songs, and he just kidnaps you on a magical music journey without you even realizing what is happening. Floor (the vocalist) is the bait

The stage-dressing pipes are a stylesed keyboard stand inspired by the Sibelius monument in Helsinki.
The same theme is reflected on the opposite side of the stage where a smaller stand is used for Troy to hold his whistles while he plays other instruments.
Tuomas'keyboard stand incorporates lighting, a wine bottle holder, his 3 keyboards, and plumbing or pyro, although this is used sparingly as he has to be leaning backwards for it to be safe.

"She just went from a sweet little girl to something harder!" Bro, you just had your first Floorgasm! Floor Jansen is beyond any doubt the greatest female vocalist of all time! Her range and tones along with her ability to seamlessly shift to any style she wants in the blink of an eye makes her unique among the greats. With all the vocals tools at her disposal she can inject any emotion she wishes at any point in a song keeping the audience fully and constantly engaged. I skipped over Nightwish songs for a very long time. The other singers the band were good but one delivered a constant "opera" style that was not for my taste. I get that some people really liked that but it wasn't for me. The second singer in the band was just ok with a rather thin pop tone quality who couldn't deliver in a live show. I gave up on the band and stopped listening. I only recently discovered that Nightwish changed singers again and decided to give them another try. I was late to the game at that point as Floor had been with Nightwish for years. Well, better late then never! Immediately upon hearing the band with Floor my reaction was... OMG, finally a voice that completes the Nightwish sound in every single way. I am now completely obsessed with Nightwish and with Floor... AMAZING!!

Floor hit ultra instinct that night in 2013 I was there witnessed the goddess. What's really impressive about this song was its the second to the last song played at the concert what's even cooler she even reacted to herself singing this song on RUclips as well you should check it out.

When it came my turn in the receiving line, I shook her hand and said quietly, "Floor, thank you so much for bringing BACK the magic." She blushed and said, "Thank YOU for saying something so kind." I swore to myself that I would never again dare to wash that hand, but then, COVID you know! LOL! Just kidding!

I always have the feeling that people who have read books simply are unable to enjoy stuff that is more or less just .. lets say inspired .. by those books and have flame it to death on IMDB.
Of course, beeing a fan of Hercules and Xena maybe helped me a bit to be less crictical 😉

The great thing about Nightwish. You get the same show regardless if it's a crowd of 82000 or 800. Lucky enough to see them live twice. Once in Tarja era.
