Hey guys! Thanks for watching the video! You may have noticed that I didn’t talk about the operating range of any of the units. I left it out because I think antenna placement and RF coordination have the biggest impact on wireless range, intermodulation distortion, and dropouts. Also, the unit’s range is largely dependent on line of sight which is highly impacted by if you DO or DO NOT have an external antenna on a stick (above the audience or performers head) and a distribution unit. I should have put this in the video but failed to do so. Sorry about that! Again, thanks for watching!
This has got to be one of the best comparisons of all of the Shure wireless models! I would like to see a follow up explanation of the different capsules. Thanks so much.
Yeah, in hindsight I wish I would've included it in the video if not to only talk about how different it is than the rest of the units. Thanks for watching man!
Shure is nice, but I've used Sennheiser EW for years and I've never had an issue. But I've always thought of trying out the Shure (since I use the GLXD wireless for guitar) This video is awesome! I've been debating getting the SLXD. Thanks!!!
I had the BLX2 PG58 wireless microphone systems, now they are at the church I run sound at, we use it in the multi purpose room, they work well for the purposes that we need them for. I have the SLXD4 SM58 wireless system.
The BLX is fantastic choice for something like a multipurpose room. I think Shure did a really nice job with the SLXD at that price point. Really good system.
@@SilverCreekAudio I’ve heard that the SLXD is really the only option if you need a lower cost wireless microphone system for doing a live sound event, the BLX systems are prone to dropouts.
I think that's accurate. The BLX system, in my opinion, is designed for low pressure situations while the SLXD can stand the pressure of a live environment much better.
I have the BLX24r, and the SLX24, mic tone the SLX is smoother and a very even almost compressed response, tons of clarity without being harsh , very natural for speaking voice. The BLX sounds great it sounds like a Shure no complaints. But, the BLX in a ceremony crowd and or with overcast weather it drops in and out if the mic isn’t within like 15 feet from the receiver. A terrible experience . I have not had that issue with the SLX. No drop outs, tons of range. I really feel confident turning that on. One thing to note is it won’t sound or perform great if the speaker holds the mic at their belly and u gotta crank the volume to hear them (the worst lol) but if u know anything about mic handling it sounds so good I’m extremely happy with it. I can only imagine how good the more expensive models are. Love me some Shure mics 🙏🏽
This is a great comparison video! Looks like PGX didn't make the cut, though. I have two of the dual SLXD systems with SM58, and they've been rock solid. I'm getting ready to replace all of my Audio-Technica wireless mics that I use with headsets for a high school theatre with Shure SLXD + SLXD1, looking to run 16 mics at once. For the bang for your buck, SLXD is, in my opinion, a good option.
Great video! Just some thoughts, 20hz - 20khz sounds good on paper but most professional systems are shaving off significant portions of the upper and lower frequencies. In most cases the engineers just need 50hz - 16khz at most. Secondly, none of these systems including the Axient will ever ever be better sonically than a wired Beta58 or Nexadyne. Just something to keep in mind.
100% agree man! The main reason we use wireless mics is because clients want them. I remember an older engineer telling me once, you can spend thousands of dollars on a wireless mic system and it might ALMOST sound as good as a wired 58! Thanks for watching dude!
I just wished he would have changed transmitters from the BLX2 as he was speaking on the different systems. But this was a great comparison video. He definitely helped me make a decision on what unit type to choose for my church.
Thanks for watching dude! I do switch transmitters in every section of the video. They're just all SM58s and don't sound radically different (in my opinion) overall.
@SilverCreekAudio Good deal with them sounding exactly the same. With the difference not being too dramatic, then I can actually look at a lower model than the1 I was thinking of at first. Less features, but still sounds good. Thank you for making this video!
Would suggest spending a bit more effort on discussing the difference in setup, particularly scan types and scan results distribution (networking). I share your concern with the QLXD segmented display but as you mentioned the RF and audio quality are similar. I'm personally preferrable to the ULXD system, but for a considerable price increase. For those interested, you can probably find the video demoing the ULXD high-density mode on RUclips, where we showed members of the audio press how many transmitters can operate in a single band. An introduction to how each of these system work (or not) with Wireless Workbench for frequency coordination. Good job overall! Too bad the Axient system is pricey for the "average" user! :)
This is good feedback man and I appreciate it! I would have loved to get more into the networking and distro side. Maybe in another video. I love the ULXD too and use it on almost every one of my jobs. Thanks for watching!
Kind of wish you would’ve mentioned the older GLXD and the issues they have. For anyone who has never used one, they are horrible. They are extremely range limited and their signal does not pass through obstacles well. You also have to constantly update firmware to make them relatively functional… on both mics and receivers. The axient wireless are expensive but have amazing interchangeability with other capsules (can run mics other then Shure) and will work perfectly every time.
You know, it never really occurred to me to include a unit to address it's short comings (don't know why), but it's so obvious to me now how interesting that could have been. Maybe a series on older units and their issues. Thanks for the comment dude and thanks for watching!
For me in corporate audio, it’s really nice to be able to hand someone a microphone they can turn on and off as needed to make announcements, etc. for the whole day without worrying about the battery, or me babysitting the console. Especially when I’m running 10 breakout rooms in a conference. Clients constantly get confused about the Senheisser mute switch vs power buttons. But in a live show or band I could see the benefit of hiding the power button, but in that case I just lock the power switch on the Shure mics
Been rocking 2 PGX-D digital systems (900mhz band) for a couple of years now, with sE Electronics V7 capsules on them. They've been rock-solid, but it looks like they've been discontinued. :(
Just Sub! Good stuff ! About the ULX-D , Dual and Quad Recever are Dante enable. I curently own 2 Quad system with Headsets and handheld. antena BIAS is for Active Paddle, you can use this system with both 1/2 waves or Active. if you ever want to Colab, let me know! 🤘🏻

Awesome, thanks for the love! I’m thinking a capsule breakdown would be super fun to do.
GLX and PGX missing 😢
I really love your videos, discovered your channel yesterday and watched almost every video. Keep it going :)
Glad you're liking the videos man! Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing, been looking at getting a SLXD system, and this answered a lot of my questions. Thanks!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching man!

My company has 16 channels of Axient. It’s been amazing and has not had any issues. Just picked up the Nexadyne capsules for it
Sweet! Have you taken the Nexadyne capsules out yet?
@@SilverCreekAudio taking them out this upcoming week, I’ll let you know what I think
Your eye-contact with the camera is locked-in haha, I kinda want more camera angles. x]
Great video! Thank you.

Awesome review! I got the QLX-D/SM58 setup recently, so far i love it! Really good build quality aswell.
Solid wireless unit! Gland you liked the video and thanks for watching!

we build systems with 40 channels of SLXD. Of course in different frequentie bands.
That's impressive!
It would be nice it the SLXD4 SM58 system included a mute button or mute switch on the handheld transmitter like its predecessor.
You should have included the battery options
You're right. Didn't dive into that. Good note and thanks for watching!
This just supports my preference for Sennheiser. I dont understand why you would want the power switch so accesible for the talent.
This made me smile! Thanks for watching man!
That’s why I powerlock literally everything😂
Of course it helps I have the rechargeable batteries, so I’m not worried about conserving battery power.
You gonna do Sennheiser next?
Shure is definitely on top.
