WOW. My sister just mentioned a few days ago to me that she has lost a lot of hair over the past several months. She’s been on a statin for over a year!

I did not notice hair loss but dryness for sure. I also learned that statins cause muscle wasting and I experienced it! I don’t take the statin anymore.

I am male living in the UK and was put on statins (Atorvastatin 20mg) to address high cholesterol diagnosed at age 60. Within a month I noticed my hair coming out when I washed it. I was also withdrawn/depressed as well and was no fun at parties! I stopped taking the medication and within six weeks my hair had recovered and my depression subsided. I spoke to my GP and he moved me on to Simvastatin 20mg. This was three months ago and my hair is back to normal and no signs of depression either. Hope this is useful information to anyone in a similar situation.

I'm a hair stylist. I have clients who are vegan/vegetarian and they have hair loss. It's brittle and dry. I told one of them it was diet - he started eating eggs . I saw a difference when he came back.. And so did he!!

Yep - not on a statin any more, perhaps for at least a year - starting to see short hairs regrowing, but I've lost at least half the volume of hair I used to have.

insulin resistance and inflammation for me. Before I lost my hair my the top of the scalp would get kinda tender. I'm 20 years late to correct the problem. The hair on top of the head had all miniturized. So just fuzz.

I've been losing hair since I started carnivore diet 2 yrs ago. No statin here. So not really sure why but it's definitely not coming back. ....having said that I'm not going to stop because the benefits make it worth it.

Up your fat intake and look into a multi-mineral supplement. Shijlegit is a good one. You may just be undereating and not getting enough nutrients due to that. This is a problem I have as well with being carnivore. I've heard from some of the doctors on here that advocate for being carnivore say that it's actually very common for new carnivores to undereat because meat is so satiating that our hunger easily satisfied, so we stop eating before our body actually gets enough of what it needs. We're supposed to go through a "priming" phase in the beginning of our carnivore lifestyle in order to get the body adjusted and to fill up our stores of nutrients that our body was missing out on while we were either on the SAD diet or vegan. This entails "feasting" once a day on a certain amount of food even if you're full before you're finished eating. Basically, you're stuffing yourself but supposedly its worth it to get the nutrients of the meat. It's usually done with red meat. I couldn't do it because I was never a heavy eater, so I looked into supplements and the multimineral one was a game changer for me. No more hair falling out and no more feeling tired all the time. Good luck on your carnivore journey. I agree that you shouldn't give it up. I'm sticking with it as well.

I lost a good portion of my hair while taking 3 or 4 statins over about a 10 year period (not to mention joint pain and several other issues). I've been off of them for 3 years or so and no regrowth yet, but no more joint pain. I'm wondering if my hair loss was due to something else.

    Omg.....That is so shitty!
And the statin does no benefit to their body.
It makes perks for the clinics who prescribe it .
It makes the Pharmaceutical company RICH😮
    (I want my LDL high!)
    My trig are low.
    My cac is 0.
    My Hdl is fine.
If I eat oreo cookies before my lupid blood test, my LDL goes way down!!!!!!
    Give me a break
Even a statin doesn't reduce it that much!!!!!
