I gave up buying Citroens last year due to horrendous reliability issues and prohibitive repair costs. I purchased a Cupra Born and have been very impressed thus far. I now understand why German cars are so popular. I've never considered a Kia, with their reputation for good reliability in the past as I they were just too sensible in the looks department but this is one that appeals to me highly - it seems like a well thought out product.
Me and my wife have been looking for our new car for several months now, and I have told her we shouldn't decide before we have seen what EV3 will be like. We live in Norway and really appreciate 4x4 in the winter. I have been thinking this car would be our next car and nobrainer if it gets 4x4 drive. But of course itwill onlyl be front wheel drive and it's so so sad,was really looking forward to this. We will see if it drives good in the winter anyway. Great video, by the way😊
This was quite impressive. Especially compared to the more minimalistic EX30 interior. However the biggest drawback are the lack of an AWD option, that the EX30 offers. But in terms of interior the Kia EV3 looks better, and with much better functionality.
For the refresh or update KIA should have the AC fixed on the bottom of the LCD screen instead of in that weird awkward space. But I'm loving everything else about this SUV.
11:17 The Plus (+) icon on its top right allows you to expand the AC menu into the infotainment screen. Hell, there's still physical button. I've seen worse, I wouldn't ask more. 😅

hi thomas, amazing review of the kia ev3, is it possible for you to do a comparison video on the honda cr-v and the toyota rav-4? both hybrid if possible
A fixed panoramic roof is good for allowing extra light into the cabin. This is useful when reading or working from your car and need some extra light and would rather use natural light than battery power.
Agree on this and appreciate having it also in my car, but then need to have a curtain for summer (unfortunately nothing on Tesla and others, but a few like smart #1 do have both). Let’s hope here with EV3 this approach will contribute to a low price…
Hate gloss black polymer panels as those are a constant fingerprint magnet and many Europeans need to take note on this. I was thinking of acquiring an EX30 for its prestige marque, but it fell short in many areas including comfort. If this will make it to Canada, then sign me up and I'll definitely acquire this as a daily driver and maybe some occasional long trips. Wish the sunroof could go to the second row, even though it's going to be a fixed glass.
Kia remind me of Skoda in that they put a lot of useful thought into their cars....useful, sensible thought .... and that makes such a difference from some other makes who seem to value style over function a lot more. Personally waiting for the EV3 GT...which has now been confirmed I believe.
Like it a lot. Unfortunately not the right size for me - but it makes me even more excited for the upcoming EV5. I'd choose this over, say, an EX30 any day. Oh, and your videos are in a league of their own, Thomas - nice, calm, hype-free - you are killing it.
I really like this car, the only major downside is the chargingport on the rightside (which is the wrong side). Homecharging is therefor (for me personally) not possible unless with a much longer charging cable.
I'd honestly love Kia (and perhaps even Hyundai) to come out with an actual car (not an SUV) that's both electric and this kind of size Getting rather fed up of seeing SUV after SUV (Tbh, I honestly wish Ford would come out with an electric Ka, Fiesta and Focus. My family's a Ford family, and it's honestly getting rather annoying see them ditch the smaller car segments in favour of SUVs)
There was an EV4 hatchback vehicle showcased with the EV3 when the concept was shown earlier this year, so there may be a lower height car version of this on the way sometime soon. A saloon/sedan or hatchback, one presumes.
Very interesting preview, thank you. The minor detail which caught my eye was the vehicle to grid capability. In a power cut this could more than double our household battery backup storage, and we get power cuts around four times a year. My personal alternatives would be something from Smart or something from Mini. I rule out Volvo because everything UI/UX is on the iPad on the dashboard. Heat pump and 4WD are also important to me so this version of EV3 does not yet cut it.
Looks nice but like always main question is price. We see how first cheep electric car from EU ended ( Renault 5 starting price in Germany 32000 euro ). If it want to compete with Chinese electric they need to think about price deeply.
Chinese cars are not selling at all, and it’s not because of the price! I manufacture parts for Chinese cars and our production has stopped and people are being paid off due to zero demand for the next 12 months.
@@iain8837 well in Europe sales of Chinese Elec. cars are rising, cars are surprisingly good quality and price is great so they become more and more popular. Specially MG looks like a successful.
15:06 Oh I didn't know about that EU law. I know that cars have been already required (or whatever the reason is) to show higher speed on the speedometer. All my cars have had actual speed about 5km/h slower than the indicated speed. So now with EV's you actually have to listen to beeps when you are driving 4 km/h slower than the speed limit. Indicated speed 61 (actual speed 56 km/h) *beep* *beep* *beep* *beep*. Have to keep that in mind when deciding which EV I want to buy.
Nice. Weird decision on the head unit. Why make the AC readout more towards the driver then the navigation? I would think a driver would look a lot more at navigation then AC. Having to look further away is worse for driving focus.
Since you mention EV laws, I would be interested to know how Europeans are viewing the slower EV take up in the US. Does it have the same impact in Europe ?
I guess we take it as a fact of life and personal preference. We do know gas is very cheap in the USA. US brands have been exiting the European market (Ford just killed a bunch of best sellers for whatever reason) so there really isn't any impact.
I don't like the angular design at all. Looks just as bulky as the square EV9. I think the current EV6 and future EV4 are very successful. KIA is also doing well in terms of interior, technology, warranty, etc. Good presentation again!
The interior looks quite nice. I'm not sure about the additional controls on the left (driver's) door - I'm right handed and would be reaching across myself to access them. The presenter was complaining about the lack of fabric on the door pockets - I see that as a plus as it it makes them easier to wipe clean. But it has proper manual buttons and looks well thought out. I'm not sure that I'd ever use a lot of the features in the car but I suppose someone does. If it had a manual handbrake I'd be more impressed - I see no reason for makers to think that electronic handbrakes are a good idea. And the exterior...why do modern car makers think aerodynamics went out with the ICE engine? Is there a reason so many EVs are boxy looking at the front?
I'll give them kudos for decent battery size/options (small and large) as well as ignoring the trend to have 500HP. For suggestions on improvement, don't use white on areas where hands will be like the steering wheel. use regular door handles and finally stick with a more appropriate tire (perhaps a 17" with a decent sidewall to soak up bumps on city roads). Lastly, I still think it would be best to make use of the 800V architecture and benefit from economies of scale and consistency to use one set up on all their EVs.
Why on earth suddenly switch the audio/ cruise control buttons on the wheel to the opposite side after having them on the same side for years… 😮 Will cause lots of hitting the wrong button because of muscle memory. weird decision imo
Speed warning is just incorrect so many times. Especially if there are roadworks (good luck on the german autobahn). Anyway, Volvo also offers a shortcut on the steering wheel. Arrow to the left.
Kia is really giving a lot for your money, however i really dont like all the beebs and bongs, when you but it gear it beeps, new sign beep, unlock beep it needs to stop or be able to switch it off.

Cheers !
Looks nice but like always main question is price. We see how first cheep electric car from EU ended ( Renault 5 starting price in Germany 32000 euro ). If it want to compete with Chinese electric they need to think about price deeply.
maybe 25,000euro
Chinese cars are not selling at all, and it’s not because of the price! I manufacture parts for Chinese cars and our production has stopped and people are being paid off due to zero demand for the next 12 months.
@@iain8837 well in Europe sales of Chinese Elec. cars are rising, cars are surprisingly good quality and price is great so they become more and more popular. Specially MG looks like a successful.
@@MrQuashu They are falling, I build them!!

Yes, always the panoramic roof to open, not fixed 10/10

Any news about new Sportage?
15:06 Oh I didn't know about that EU law.
I know that cars have been already required (or whatever the reason is) to show higher speed on the speedometer. All my cars have had actual speed about 5km/h slower than the indicated speed. So now with EV's you actually have to listen to beeps when you are driving 4 km/h slower than the speed limit. Indicated speed 61 (actual speed 56 km/h) *beep* *beep* *beep* *beep*. Have to keep that in mind when deciding which EV I want to buy.
You just turn it off once and it stays off.
Nice.
Weird decision on the head unit. Why make the AC readout more towards the driver then the navigation? I would think a driver would look a lot more at navigation then AC. Having to look further away is worse for driving focus.
Maybe their section visibility is obstructed by steering wheel.
@@RidgeMu Because you will get the navigation instructions in the middle of the display right in front of you if you have it build it.
ev3 gt line 너무 이쁘다❤
Since you mention EV laws, I would be interested to know how Europeans are viewing the slower EV take up in the US. Does it have the same impact in Europe ?
I guess we take it as a fact of life and personal preference. We do know gas is very cheap in the USA.
US brands have been exiting the European market (Ford just killed a bunch of best sellers for whatever reason) so there really isn't any impact.
@@brunomadeira8432GM has announced plans to re-enter EU as EV only.
Is this built on the Ionic 5 platform?
yes E-GMP
When will this come to India? 🧐
the most beautiful electric car yet
Thanks for the feedback !
4,30m...for City use...the Golf has similiar size and is not only a City Car!!!!
Love it!
It's always about snuggling! 😋❤️
Kia and Hyundai are so desirable. They're beating the Germans at their own game.
White is just an option, he spoke about 17 inch tyres being available. He also spoke about 400v architecture being chosen to lower price now.
It should compete well against the Volvo EX30
Why on earth suddenly switch the audio/ cruise control buttons on the wheel to the opposite side after having them on the same side for years… 😮
Will cause lots of hitting the wrong button because of muscle memory. weird decision imo
Speed warning is just incorrect so many times. Especially if there are roadworks (good luck on the german autobahn). Anyway, Volvo also offers a shortcut on the steering wheel. Arrow to the left.
Kia also has a shortcut.
Is battery type Lfp or Nmc?
Both NMC, would have been nice to get LFP at least for the short range…
amazing car. I wish I could afford it
today i learned that a vw golf sized car is a really small car meant for city driving by modern standards
I'll never drive outside my village boundaries again. I never realised small cars can't travel long distance😆
Kia is really giving a lot for your money, however i really dont like all the beebs and bongs, when you but it gear it beeps, new sign beep, unlock beep it needs to stop or be able to switch it off.
Not much of that is actually true. Much exaggerated.
without matrix led?
