Using the PTZOptics SuperJoy with vMix

On today’s show we will take a detailed look at PTZOptics new SuperJoy PTZ controller. This includes a review of its physical and web interfaces, demos of controlling both local and remote cameras with it, and a walk-thru of a new vMix script we wrote that helps it integrate better with non-PTZOptics cameras.

You mention that the HDMI preview output uses RTSP and doesn't require NDI, but does it support NDI for those of us that do have an NDI setup?

Hi Cheyenne - When the Move 4K camera is connected with the Superjoy controller, the controller will take the RTSP feed from the selected camera to feed out it's HDMI port. The HDMI poet of the camera itself operated normally as does the NDI feed sent out by the camera. The RTSP and NDI feeds coexist on the network with no problem, and you NDI setup will operate normally. Let me know if this covers what you were looking for. Thanks for talking the time to watch!

@@StreamingAlchemy I was asking if the HDMI output on the device will support showing a preview of the NDI stream from an NDI controlled camera, just as it previews the RTSP stream for other cameras.

Hi Cheyenne - When the Move 4K is being controlled via NDI, the video will also be fed out of the HDMI on the camera - giving you a second view of the feed you are receiving over NDI. That said, it is my understanding that the HDMI and SDI cannot both be active on the Move 4K. This would mean that you could have NDI active with either an HDMI or SDI feed, but cannot have both SDI and HDMI active together. Hope that helps!

At 21:30 mark ... what type of monitor is that?

Hi Monte - The desk monitors on set are the ViewSonic TD2455 adjustable monitors. We keep them at their lowest position so they are out of our main shot, but very easy to look at and work with (they are touch monitors as well).

Thanks Tom! We were really impressed by what the SuperJoy does at such an attractive price point.
For anyone that doesn't know, Eastern Shore Broadcasting carries the PTZOptics line, and Tom provides incredible support both directly and through the Streaming Idiots group. I don't know when the man sleeps :-)
