Your twistout is looking good! I'm using The Doux Mousse now because of BGC, but I've also used Jane Carter Natural Twist Out Foam and I liked it as well. Both of them foamed in my hair. I have better luck with that brush when I use it vertically first and then horizontally. It seems like my coils wrap around the teeth when it's horizontal, but slip right through when it's vertical. Once I go through my hair vertically then I can switch and the brush glides through easily. It's not my favorite detangling brush though.

But when you really open yourself to learning and understanding and being honest with yourself about why you do certain practices, you will make the shift. Also everyone's skill set is different so getting down to doing your hair in an hour takes time. I'm down to 1:30- 1:45 Cleanse to 90% dry on my best days.

Another helpful video! Thank you! Your hair is beautifully healthy looking. Been enjoying this no butter no oil. So great to feel my hair without heavy butters!
I use to hateeee greasy hair, but I though that I was doomed to have to but heavy creams or grease on my hair because I had “low porosity” hair which could never be “moisturized” by any of the leave-ins I bought. I never had problems w detangling or wash day because I am a “lazy” natural, & I would neverrrr sit in a bathroom for hours doing my hair🌚 so my wash time remained the same. I jumped on this method the second I heard about it and I’m so thankful I did it right before college when I planned on embracing my hair & wearing it out. Now I don’t have to stress about styling it in college because I now what I’m doing & it’s guaranteed to come out right everytime as long as my method is good🙂
Also tip for detangling with the brush: use it vertically not horizontally, trust me it’ll work so much better! Before Detangling, smooth the conditioner in while adding a little bit of water then squish it for a minute or two before detangling. I also squish my hair while rinsing the conditioner out & it works out great.
I’m enjoying the process. I haven’t tried a twist out yet since I primarily do wash and goes but I end up having to tweak my routine, sometimes I don’t add enough water or products. If my hair doesn’t come out right I restyle.
This is my first time making a comment on your channel and I love your information…it’s always informative. Regarding the mousse ( the Doux) I have tried it at least three times and it works wonderfully however I have a sensitive scalp. It irritated my scalp so I cannot use it. 😂😂 I know you have an itchy scalp so I hope you don’t have that problem. It is a wonderful product and she has a lot of other products in her line. Best of luck I love your Energy and that contagious smile 😊 🙏🏾👍🏾
Hey Harriet! 👋🏾 That’s actually a great tip. I’m gonna look out for that because my scalp is pretty sensitive. Lord I hope it will be alright 🙈 Thanks for the heads up!
Mousse foams on my hair. I use the creme of nature argan oil style and shine foaming mousse and the lottabody wrap me foaming mousse. Haven't tried anything else
I use The Doux and Design Essentials and yes I get foam because I use A LOT! But my hair sets and stays for at least 4 days before I refresh then I get 2 more days, then it’s wash day again. I use mousse in winter when I need my hair to dry fast and my wash n go’s last with mousse in Winter longer than Summer, in summer I have to layer a cream under a gel since I sweat in my scalp
So I've been retrying this detox. I'm broke so I need affordable products. I use the Garnier whole blends olive oil shampoo and conditioner or their pure clean shampoo and conditioner. Then I'll use the creme of nature argan oil mousse or the lottabody wrap me foaming mousse. So far my hair is feeling amazing
Okay so I totally don't understand, I already use oils and butter that are natural or "botanical" with humectants (honey and vegetable glycerin) in them. Soooo...what's the benefit of doing it this way with a gel or mousse?
Wow, I'm so glad that you tried this detox routine out! We directly see your progress and you're telling us exactly how your 4c hair feels like!😍😍 I've been using less oils for years now, and my hair is doing great by being consistent. But your videos and Jenn J. are almost tempting me to try it out.😱 Many products that I have at home have oils & butters as the first ingredients and I most of the time add oils to my diy clay masks. Do you really follow it strictly: first 5 ingredients no oils or butters?
Yes, that’s the idea. No oil or butter in the first 5 ingredients. Preferably botanical products, but the first criteria is most important to get started.
The way my hair foams up with mousse is ridiculous. I'm a mousse w&g girl in the summer. But I like it fluffy. (Type 4?, btw.) Curls Blueberry Bliss is my favorite, so far. I also like the one from the Camille Rose honey line. The Mielle pomegranate and honey leaves my hair a little stiff.
I start with finger detangling and then I use the brush. I have short hair and my hair doesn’t get very tangled so my whole process takes 1 to 1 1/2hrs including drying. Twist seem to take a long time.
You got me looking to the side wondering should I give this a try but I’m gonna wait to see what you ordered on Amazon and order them so when I go into it I won’t have the hiccups you had also I see they talk about this working on 4C hair I don’t have 4C hair and I’m wondering will it still detox my hair
What shampoo and conditioner did you use? I have long dense hair. It takes about 20 minutes for me to detangle my hair- I apply the conditioner to each section of wet hair, then detangle each section. I have yet to find a high end conditioner that beats Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner. The slip makes it my holy grail and speeds up the process!
I was JUST about to recommend this conditioner! Very affordable (can get a jumbo size under 20 bucks at winners/marshalls) and no silicones On the more expensive end Briogeo Don't Despair repair is a dream of a conditioner. If things are in a state of disrepair and you need a deep conditioner Mo Knows Hair DC is great.
Wait why did it take that long to detangle? I thought 20 minutes was a lot. I use wide tooth comb first then I go in with a brush that looks like a Denmark brush with only four rows it works well and fast
Wrap foam definitely keeps my hair feeling soft throughout the week but my twist out/braid out didn't turn out right. Then again, I've never been great at styling.
i think that might be because you’re using a wrap foam and not a styling foam/mousse. id recommend design essentials mousse!! a little goes a long way with it too 👍🏾
My 4c hair was breaking and falling out no matter which moisturizer, oil, leaving, shampoo or conditioner monthly trims. I got a perm. Will try natural again, not sure how to begin.
The Doux mousse is recommended. I use DesignEssentials Avocado Almond mousse on my twistouts and it works really well. You can try Lottabody mousse. Its not as expensive; however, it may be a little more drying. I love Lottabody for my rollersets. It holds really well and you can buy the concentrated version to make it stronger.
Yes, technically you can use any mousse you have. However if you want to follow the 30 day detox, take a look at the ingredients and make sure there aren’t silicones or oils in the first 5 ingredients. Most mousses should work though!
You said a mouthful when you said "I'm not used to feeling my hair without the product "buildup". I think that sums up much of the "controversy" around the detox. You hair may have felt dry but it looks hydrated which are different. Super cute twist out too!

@@LaToyaEbonyHair I think you’ll like the recommended conditioners, if you order them. You have so much hair! 😍 I think 2 hours is a great time!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair okay!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair more water and the conditioner will foam up a bit and add more slip. I STAN for AG Boost from the product list.
Girl we see you. That definition is 🔥🔥🔥.
Thanks boo! 🥰🥰
That process looks like it worked great on your hair. I just don't have the patience to work with my hair for 3+ hours.
How do yall get such stretched looking twist out??? Its amazing
Another helpful video! Thank you! Your hair is beautifully healthy looking. Been enjoying this no butter no oil. So great to feel my hair without heavy butters!
Great twist out! Luv how it's so bouncy.
I just tried Design Essentials almond and avocado mousse. It smells amazing and the foam is out of control 🤪
Got to have mouse it is my 4c hair best friend. 😁 The Doux is my favorite...a little pricey for me but I love it.
I finger detangle first then I go in with a brush. I have fine strands that love each other 😂 single stand knots are my nemesis 😩
Best of luck
I love your Energy and that contagious smile 😊 🙏🏾👍🏾
Hey Harriet! 👋🏾 That’s actually a great tip. I’m gonna look out for that because my scalp is pretty sensitive. Lord I hope it will be alright 🙈 Thanks for the heads up!
Beautiful, informative & transparent & encouraging as always!👏🏽👍🏽
Is it just me or do you kind of look like the Mowry sisters??🙂
Wonderful video and I really love your calm personality. New subscriber here. ❤️
Haha! I get A LOT. I’m flattered 😊

Does your mousse foam too? 🤔
I am going to have to try mousse with my next twist out! Thank you 🤗
Okay so I totally don't understand, I already use oils and butter that are natural or "botanical" with humectants (honey and vegetable glycerin) in them. Soooo...what's the benefit of doing it this way with a gel or mousse?
I use The Doux or Design essentials mousse and they both foam. I use about two pumps per section.
I like it. Basically afro hair are soft. They are kinky when they receive bad treatment.
New subscriber 🥰💙💕.. thank you for this video 😊.. luv your energy and spirit 😊
I use a wide tooth comb first, then wet brush. I spend 7-10 mins.
Hello, the Mousse I use for my natural hair is Nu Expressions foam mousse. It works well for me.
Giving you some Grace
You should have more views, I love your channel
The way my hair foams up with mousse is ridiculous. I'm a mousse w&g girl in the summer. But I like it fluffy. (Type 4?, btw.) Curls Blueberry Bliss is my favorite, so far. I also like the one from the Camille Rose honey line. The Mielle pomegranate and honey leaves my hair a little stiff.
I wonder what the results would be if you twisted on wet air and then sat under hooded dryer.
A lot less stretched for sure
I start with finger detangling and then I use the brush. I have short hair and my hair doesn’t get very tangled so my whole process takes 1 to 1 1/2hrs including drying. Twist seem to take a long time.
It's the twist out for me 😍❤
Your hair looks great
You got me looking to the side wondering should I give this a try but I’m gonna wait to see what you ordered on Amazon and order them so when I go into it I won’t have the hiccups you had also I see they talk about this working on 4C hair I don’t have 4C hair and I’m wondering will it still detox my hair
And yes mousse dries fast another pro of using it
FIRST!? What!? I’m so early👏🏽
Hi Calitia! See you on the next zoom meeting!
Heeeeeey! 👋🏾 Cali…Early and I love it!!
Yaaaasss! I love seeing you together 🥰
It’s going to be fun I’m sure. I’ll try and look decent and have my wine ready for this months zoom call 😂🍾

Very affordable (can get a jumbo size under 20 bucks at winners/marshalls) and no silicones
On the more expensive end Briogeo Don't Despair repair is a dream of a conditioner.
If things are in a state of disrepair and you need a deep conditioner Mo Knows Hair DC is great.
I used the same products from week 2. Excited to try the new products though!
🔥 amazing blog 👍 keep growing, I'm your new Subscriber love ♥️ from Kolkata....
Heeey! 👋🏾 Welcome to my channel! I appreciate you hanging out with us!
African Pride Rose Water mousse foams on my hair
Wait why did it take that long to detangle? I thought 20 minutes was a lot. I use wide tooth comb first then I go in with a brush that looks like a Denmark brush with only four rows it works well and fast
Latoya! We have the same scalp issues and I just really hate the way the T Gel smells! I know you use Nizoral. Does it smell any better??
I’m not sure because I’ve never used T Gel…Nizoral doesn’t smell too bad to me though…I’m not that sensitive to fragrance.
I love Tailored Beauty’s mousse!!! Also does anyone know if the bask and bloom mousse works for the no oil and butters detox?
I have no idea…I’ve never tried it
mousse be foaming like crazy on me lol
Does your hair still feel moisturized?
Yes and no. I can’t explain it, but it’s a different feeling altogether.
Zoe looks good
Thank you 😊
The influance it's natural coconut mousse is the best mousse I've ever used thus far check it out y'all
Are you into voice acting? That voice over is professional.
She is a professional actress!!!
@@tmcurly I know that. I was asking about a specific type of acting.
Not yet. It’s on my list of sectors to get into!
what are the 5 oils to not have in the first 5 ingredients?
No oils specifically. Just should have any oil at all in the first 5 ingredients to fit the methodology.
Hey girl! What covered blow dryer do you have?
It’s by Conair. I got it on Amazon. ☺️
Your hair looks cute
Wrap foam definitely keeps my hair feeling soft throughout the week but my twist out/braid out didn't turn out right. Then again, I've never been great at styling.
I used nairobi wrap foam.
i think that might be because you’re using a wrap foam and not a styling foam/mousse. id recommend design essentials mousse!! a little goes a long way with it too 👍🏾
Beautiful🥰
Gorgeous girl ❤️
How and for how long would you maintain the mousse twist out?
Up to 5 days
@@LaToyaEbonyHair 5 days is good, how do you maintain it at night?
Mousse 🤔….okay👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
My 4c hair was breaking and falling out no matter which moisturizer, oil, leaving, shampoo or conditioner monthly trims. I got a perm. Will try natural again, not sure how to begin.
There’s so much information on the internet. Don’t lose hope. You can start with my hair regimen playlist if you’d like.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair which regiment
okay inches!
Can i use any mousse? I have one and don't have the coins to buy the recommended products right now.
@@FTYC2022 Great suggestions Rebecca!!
Yes, technically you can use any mousse you have. However if you want to follow the 30 day detox, take a look at the ingredients and make sure there aren’t silicones or oils in the first 5 ingredients. Most mousses should work though!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair ohhh, i didn't know the mousse can't have silicones! Welp, that takes Design Essentials off the list for the detox 🤦🏽♀️😄.
@@FTYC2022 the silicone in design essentials is water rinsable so it doesn’t need a sulfate shampoo to be removed.
WOW!! 💓😲🤓🤔🤗
