    How is a 5K rotation a bad thing when all manufactures specify to rotate every 5K miles??

    Great Review thank you 👍🇺🇸
    Note: on picking up stones the Good Year Duratrac has a tapered angle edge making it not bad for picking up stones
    Yes the General has a nice tread pattern. More tire manufacturers need a more angled tread pattern it helps with less stone pick up and a
    quicker ejection period.
    Drink milk and drive fast be safe. Thank you the Vermonter

    I also have a small lawn care business and have a 3/4 ton ford. Out of 5 sets of different all-terrain tires, all have got 10k-15k miles with one size bigger than stock. No matter if best brand or worst. I know they look better but get stock size and highway tread. That will get you the longest wear and best miles per gallon per set. And if you have 4wd, you don't need a more aggressive tire. As always, your decision though. Michelin has a great highway tire and their all-terrain isn't as aggressive

    • @ThriftyGarage
      @ThriftyGarage  2 года назад +1

      I like the Michelin LTX AT2 but they aren’t well suited for gravel and dirt roads. Just swapped out a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W and they did pretty good. I just installed a set of BFG KO2. The General Grabber ATx did not wear well and I don’t think any tires with the TPMSS do very well in a towing application. I have also heard good things about Cooper AT3 XLT.

    • @jamesnm21
      @jamesnm21 2 года назад

      @@ThriftyGarage yes, I'm looking to put an AT tire on my truck soon and I'll definitely be looking at the at3. It has great reviews. I think the winter performance probably won't be as good as some of the softer tires but everything is a tradeoff.

    How are the tires holding up on the truck? I also just put these on the wife’s 4 runner. How did they do on yours?

    • @ThriftyGarage
      @ThriftyGarage  4 года назад

      4Runner they are doing pretty good. At 50% tread life things were not looking very optimistic but wear seems to have slowed down. The truck, not so good. I’ve posted update videos on both if you want to know more.

    • @jamesnm21
      @jamesnm21 2 года назад

      They'll probably be great on a 4runner, but there are better tires to put on a 3/4 ton pickup.

      @@ThriftyGarage the bfg commercial ta all season has lasted well on my 3/4 ton cummins. For an AT towing tire the cooper at3 xlt is highly rated by long distance hot shot guys who tow 100% of the time. You can check out pd diesel power's channel for his take. He's run a few different brands says the coopers are the best.

    • @ThriftyGarage

    This is not the best AT tire for towing. The reports on these say they wear out faster than the grabber x3 and bfg ko2's. Cooper at2's have one of the best tow ratings from real world experience.

      Thrifty Garage that is a ton of air pressure. You should be running whatever is recommended by manufacturer on door sticker. You will be wearing the center’s off those tires. If I am hauling a big load I air mine up to 50lbs. I run 10 ply cooper AT3’s currently. But other than that I run about 34 lbs.

      Jack Juby That goes out the window though when you’re running tires that aren’t the original size. And what 3/4t truck recommends 50psi? My 2018 GMC recommends 60 in front and 75 in back.
