Sasha you are SOOO lucky!! Not only was the book you read set in your city, you happened to read the book before the movie started filming, actually found out that the filming would happen, got to go to the casting and GOT IN
There are like no movies filmed anywhere near my city, let alone a movie that I would KILL to be in
And also you were the right age! Most movies require an extra to be 18+ but they happened to be looking for teenagers! sigh*

I had a friend in theater who knew him! All I really know is that all the theater kids loved him and knew he was going places. He was the pride of the whole program haha. Still is, that's for sure! And he talks about where he's from in some interviews and talk shows. Good ol' small town Citrus County, Florida.

That's so cool they filmed The Hunger Games and Paper Towns close to where I live and one of my friends is in THG he got to meet Jen and Liam. I was so jealous, but really happy for him. I found the casting call for Paper Towns but I didn't have a car so I couldn't do it:( the odds aren't in my favor!

I got to be an extra once for a movie that was filmed at my high school. It was really cool because I got to skip school and I got paid for it :D Though Divergent is a way cooler movie to be an extra in lol
IM FROM CHICAGO TOO! Omg I'm so excited, I feel like there are no other booktubers in the Chicagoland area! My boyfriend' sister was an extra in the movie as well, maybe you guys met while you were on set lol, she had an amazing experience and really loved it. She really is in to acting, so it was a great acting experience for her. Plus it also helps that she loves the trilogy :-) - Heather

This was so interesting to watch! I wish I lived in Chicago just to be an extra in Divergent (I secretly want to be in Erudite even though everyone loathes them haha)
Also everyone keeps saying how lucky you are to have that experience but honestly, I think luck is a tiny part of it. You had the guts to put yourself out there so you got to be part of something awesome, and I wish I had guts to do what you did. Because honestly, even if I did live in Chicago I'd probabky be too anxious to audition to be an extra

This is so awesome! I've been an extra in a TV series before and it's such an incredible experience; but being in a book to movie adaptation is actually incredible, especially when the book is so close to heart. Love your channel Sasha, keep up the great work!

Hahaha it's quite a story! I was at a press event for Divergent and the cast all had name tags so after the event when they left, I grabbed Ansels name sign!

Il cinema italiano si basa su quelle "cose", che si ostinano a definire commedie comiche (o demenziali), mentre in America fanno film d'azione bellissimi: Hunger Games, Divergent, insomma, film con effetti VERI! ** Noi i green screens ce li sogniamo. Che ingiustizia, qua in fatto di film siamo veramente arretrati -.- Tu pensa a le poverette -come me- che vorrebbero fare le attrici. Siamo nate nel paese sbagliato. :(

How do you find out about the casting calls for extras? I can never tell the difference between which websites are scams or not! I live near orlando so I would imagine there would be a ton of opportunities Id love to be a part of! Any info is appreciated!
Go on direct websites. For example if you want to do a Divergent movie go on the website and look for casting calls a few months ahead.

You ARE really good at telling a story :). I loved this video and getting to hear your perspective about being on the set. It's not often that you get to hear from extras either. I remember seeing the casting call when looking up news about the movie and I forwarded it to a friend of mine who lives in Chicago too but I don't know if she went through with it like you did.
I love that you had your mom's support for doing this. I can't imagine February in Chicago, the cold, especially last year's winter (I heard it was really cold), and waiting outside and then also waking up at 2 a.m.! A 14 hour day! You were really dedicated -- I'm glad it sounds like you had a great time and was worth the effort. I loved your reaction about the farmgirl and hippie pose - yeah, I definitely would NOT have known what to do there, but hey it worked out for you! I liked getting to see the stills of you in the movie. I see in the background an Ansel Elgort sign above your Divergent books. Is there a story behind that? Is that from the set?
