Nice explainer. I have 2 copies of this and one of them is a bit fiddly when trying to load but I still love both ofmy Olympus XA cameras! I’ve subbed to your channel cuz we’re Olympus bros and I'm trying to immerse my feed in fellow film people. Can't wait to see what you shoot! Check out the pics I got in my Olympus XA POV Photo Walk video I just posted where I shoot some fuji 400 in mine.
Thank you subscribed as well
@@GrandadsReviews thank you! Appreciate it man!
No offense David, that's not the Original Olympus XA, but the XA1. Because being the only full mech. one from the XA Series, it does have a way different Shutter Button. The Lens isn't the same, too. The Original XA from 1979-86 features 6 Elements into 5 Groups, the XA1 4 Lens Elements into 4 Groups. I do own the original XA, as well as the XA2. For Reference - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympus_XA Of course, Film Loading is being the same on all XA Variants.
Good Light.
He's right. That is not the XA. The XA may have had a lens with more elements, but they are all "focussed" on squeezing the lens insider the camera shell. The lens is a total dog optically. Neither Oly or anyone else ever used its design again, and for good reason. The 4 element Tessar copy lens in the XA1 is far superior optically.
The lens in the original XA is a dog!?? What are you smoking! - It's the original (not the XA1) XA's ability to take incredible professional grade photographs - the F2.8 optics in the XA are stunning. Not to mention aperture control and rangefinder focusing, with metering which shows the shutter speed, that makes this camera highly sought after. Your comment is rubbish.
@@xoio I don't smoke, and you need glasses. The lens on the XA was all about compressing the optic into the shallow depth of the pocket camera design. In so doing, they sacrificed edge and corner resolution, tolerated massive chromatic aberration (the inability to focus colors, smearing them instead), and a great a degree of vignetting (darkening of the corners and edges of the image). The only camera regularly hyped on YT which is worse upon simple examination of its images is the Olympus Mju/Stylus, which gets something of a pass with its three element triplet lens. Both cameras achieve the maker's goals: a simple snapshot camera intended to slip into a pocket without case or accessories to fuss with, and go to the beach, then to Walmart for a double set of 3x5 inch prints. Push either camera beyond that usage, and you are wasting your time and money. The following model(s) with a simple 4-element Tessar copy lens design will approach what you suggest, but the XA for professional usage - laughable.
What are those white freckles all over the inside of the camera?
The camera has been splattered with white paint and is faulty

@@goopcat yes I don't know how the previous owner did it but I got it from a charity shop.
