'Strong' was the opening track and third single from Robbie's chart-topping second album 'I've Been Expecting You' - just like 'Angels' and 'No Regrets'/'Antmusic' before it, it peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. Backing musicians include British drummer and percussionist Andy Duncan, who had previously appeared on releases by Wham!, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Pet Shop Boys.
The promo video was the first of three that saw Robbie working with director Simon Hilton, who was also behind the camera for 'It's Only Us' and 'Kids'. It incorporated onstage and behind-the-scenes footage from his wittily titled 'One More For The Rogue' Tour.
In August 2003, on the third of his three performances at Knebworth House, in Hertfordshire, England, Robbie set a new Guinness World Record for 'Most Karaoke Participants' when he organised 125,000 fans for a rendition of 'Strong'.

Funny how music from years ago etches deep in your psyche, then when you hear the a certain song years later emotions from years gone come flooding back.. in 2003 I was flying from Australia (I live there) to the UK to attend my Dad’s funeral. This song played repeatedly on the video clips I was listening to at the time .. this song reminds me of happy days with my Dad ..

Say what u want about him as a bloke, but these lyrics are something as a man I can definitely relate to. About people assuming that everything is going well for u, but in reality you're struggling in life and that all u can find is faults in yourself.

Back when this came out. I was mid teens, healing trauma...never ever did I imagine that 20 plus years later I would be healing and had written a book about my childhood, selfpublished it and moved on. A literal book on the shelf....I don't think I could have survived without music. ❤❤❤❤
When I listened to this song the first time I was like 15, I kinda of like it even if I didn't pay much attention to the meaning of the lyrics. Now I'm 31 and this song really hits hard when I look around and see that I'm not even half way of what I wanted to be when I was younger.
