Thank you so much for sharing your trip and congrats to you and your lovely wife. I have not been able to create anything since May. My son was ill and life got very busy. I have not been in a creative space in a while. Your calming voice and the lessons you give through painting are encouraging for me. Many thanks.

Oh my goodness! This was such an exiting video! My son and I watched it together. He is not an artist, but, he will be doing a study abroad program in Japan! He lands in Osaka and spends a few days there, and then, he will live in Kyoto! He will be going to a Japanese high school there, and, on his days off, visit all the wonderful temples and places you have filmed! He also knew about the stamps and cannot wait to fill pages of his journal with the wonderful stamps they have everywhere! Anyway, your videos are always so fun to watch, but, this was a particularly special one. You gave my son and I a moment together, watching your video. I thank you for that. And, you have just added another fan to your list of many, my son. Wishing you and your new wife the very best. May only good days come to you.

I just returned from Japan and South Korea. I brought along my watercolour sketchbook and paints every day and was able to find time to sit down to sketch only 3 times in 3 weeks! I think I was too focused on capturing the perfect scene instead of loosely sketching and relaxing. Anyway I will play catch up now that Im home. Thanks for sharing your experiences and I love how your sketchbook turned out!

WOW!!! I bet we crossed each other's path!!! I was in Japan with my husband beginning of October - 31 year anniversary!! congrats to you and your wife! I did NOT have time to sketch at all... even though I took my sketchbook and supplies. There was too much walking and too much to visit. Japan is incredible and I took all the photos I could and I am now filling my travel sketchbook with all those Japanese houses, gardens, restaurants and all that I can remember! Incredible trip!!!

Been looking forward to you heading to Japan since you told us about your plan to visit! It’s a country on my bucket list! I received my first watercolours as a birthday present, as requested by myself when asked, 2 weeks ago and it’s because of watching your channel the last year or so and dabbling in using fineliners instead of pencils the past few months that I’ve bit the bullet and added watercolour to my sketches!! I was always wary of adding colour and “ruining” what I thought were good sketches for me. But I’ve loosened up my sketches and it’s all down to you my man! I look forward to hearing about your trip and seeing what you produce!

We talk while I sketch, she brings a book. We have a habit of being too busy on holiday, so we both know that actually putting aside an hour to sit somewhere is good for us.
She will also often go to a museum whilst I sketch, because she enjoys them more than me :)

At their location in Kamata, Tokyo, they have him climbing up the side of the building. 😂 In Osaka at the Dotonbori, he's on the center of a giant ferris wheel.
