Bear in mind, these reference positions are for even scores like 7-away 7-away, like Marc uses in his 'Cube like a boss' book. Adjustments need to be made for match score, particularly for the double 5 blitz positions.
Excellent information thank you! More more more like this please. Such incredibly useful lessons taught so easily my game has improved so much because of you. Your lessons are cool water on a hot day!
Very cool, like everything you do Marc :-) I've been caught on the wrong side of that 55 blitz before, nice to have this reference position in my brain now . LIKE button SMASHED!!! :-)
Nice video. Double 5 also comes in another variant with 2 checkers on the bar(for instance from an opening 5-2). Where it can sometimes in a match be too good to double.
That is right! It's a huge pass at a neutral score in the double 5 blitz, when a player has both back checkers on the bar, and for sure there are match scores where it is actually too good to double.
Great video - but I really think for your own safety you should have made the vid at the café, NOT while driving. You could also have used a real Galaxy board, rather than a virtual one. :-)
That comes from American sign language because you use your thumb to pinky to indicate 6. I know this because you can use the ASL numbers to hold a pip count on your fingers.
@Jim - It means its a toss-up for who can win. Usually you want to cube opp when you have 65-75% chance to win and your opp can take if the have 22-25% chance of wining depending on position and actual risk
Hi Backgammon Galaxy. I play on your website and I'm rated in the 1400 range, would Marc's book "Cube like a boss" be to advanced for me? I haven't read any other backgammon book but I've noticed my cubes are much worse than my checker play.

That is true Buck. Reference positions are usually presented at a "neutral score" or "moneygame" situation.
Not sure what I was paying attention to...the reference positions or the Porsche. I think I need to start up a backgammon site 😉
Nice. I've not bothered to learn any reference positions yet, but I'll start with those...
The three variants for the second position were really helpful! Thanks.
Yay - I knew all three (having already read C.L.A.B.), but GREAT to see them all collected together in one vid, thanks Marc
Thank you Marc! Very useful!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the top tips! 🎲🎲🎲
Any time!
This is a keeper for sure. Need to write these down and memorize for sure. Keep em coming M.O. !! you rock

Great video. I’m gonna buy the cube book
Well presented. Keeps the viewer on his toes.
Thanks Chris! :)
must have been important to implement the ‚car‘ in this one…
how come you're streaming live while driving???
It's not live ;-)
Nice Porsche Marc!
Old Boxster 986 from 1999.
Looks like Portugal if I’m not mistaken? Enjoy….
That is correct Goldboy. :)
@@Marcolino10DK I always have my board with me, so if I see you at the beach I might ask you to kick my arse. Hahaha. Have fun.
Yeah yeah, btw can you make a video about your Porsche ;)
Jk, thx for the good double tips. Best

We did that in other videos :) Just mixing it up a bit.
Always liked you and now I see you also drive Porsche! 👍
In the "Backgammon Basics" playlist the video before this one #18 is a private video. I can not see it.
Nice shirt 👕
Thanks :-)
What was the first car that you owned?
interesting.... but is it safe to make that kind of video when driving ?
Very safe indeed
@hugues hack - Look at the car review channels, they do it for a living.
HAhhhahahah... brilliant. Thank you. To watch you drive

What kind of car is it? Looks nice.

Great video and very helpful. Does 50/50 position mean double/take is ok or play on until you get the advantage?

Get "basics To Badass" first Dave. Absorbing what this book has to offer will take you to expert level and beyond.
@@drdark9134 ok, will try to pick it up as soon as I can.
👍
on variation n.2 ,(the cheker on the 23point) you DONT hit,,!!you play 13 to 3 (2)
