    Just to give an idea of how ridiculous that 3rd set was: When Iga was leading 5-0, Vekic had only made 1 unforced error at the time. Vekic is an aggressive player with a great serve and ONLY made 1 UE, and was STILL losing 0-5. That's how good Iga was in that 3rd set....

    • @MrAlexsaint
      @MrAlexsaint Год назад +22

      Well impressive stat indeed, but Vekic did not have lots of opportunities to attack in the 3rd, as she was exhausted and just was striking the ball back on the field, which Iga finished most of the times. Still, 1 UE shows that Iga just did not allow her to make those.

      @@MrAlexsaint Disagree. I saw the entire match and Vekic didn't get defensive in her game style at all. She maintained aggression and played well, It's just Iga either hit a winner or forced Vekic into an error. That might be the best set I've seen Iga play all year and that's including during the winning streak.

    • @einarsd4
      @einarsd4 Год назад +7

      She didn't get many winners, because she ran out of energy before the third set. And considering that you need only 24 points to win a set, that's not so much of a deal. Vekic could have scored much more winners if she wasn't fatigued from her previous matches.

      Semifinal conclusion was barely half a set, as they started at 4:2 and 0:30. I would say it was a nice warm-up for her, and that showed as she played brillant in the first two sets. It is normal for tennis players to play two whole matches in a day sometimes. Then in the 3rd set Iga decided to turn the dial to 11 and ran like crazy for every ball. Donna just couldn't keep up and was mentally beaten far before the set ended - she lost the belief she could turn this around again and just gave up. But still kudos to her for making iga work really hard for this win.
