I’m not sure if it counts as a remake. I agree it was awful, but it would be like calling Batman (1989) a remake of Batman the Movie (1966) or Batman Begins a remake of Batman the Movie. I may be completely wrong I’m just not sure if being based on the same comic book is enough to classify it as a remake.
I only clicked on this because I was certain was going to contain The Crow remake. Orginal movie director Alex Proyas's remarks toward it have been scathing. 😮
First movie to use fast zombies was actually a parody, Return of the Living Dead. It was also the first to have them seeking brains. Awesome soundtrack.
Can't believe you didn't mention the 2024 Crow remake in this list (I went into it thinking that's what prompted you to make it). Alex Proyas, the director of the original, was nothing short of scathing towards the notion of a remake, which he saw as Brandon Lee's legacy. He also didn't hold back his glee at the film tanking critically and commercially.
I didn't get the Kimba joke at the time BUT I do now and I didn't make the Hamlet connection until my English teacher started mentioning each similarity one at a time, when I said " HOLY 💩" she didn't even get mad 😹
Box office success or not, there will be no sequel to the "Child's play" reboot. Since "M3gan" xeroxed that storyline beat for bear, too much greater acclaim as well as profit, we can safely say that vacancy has now been filled and then some.
I got angry at the Wickerman remake too because it not only didn't stayed true to the original but also didn't done that to it's own story. Maybe it was a dub error but 2 scenes that p/ssed me of the most was when for one cages character(I couldn't even remember his name till the end of the movie ) found out that his bullets where stolen, even though he checked his gun 10 min prior. The second one was a rollback to the original, that it's prohibited to say the word "dead" on the island, just to end the movie where everyone sings in harmony "the drone is dead". if you set rules in your movies universe, then please stay with them
Even though, on very rare occasions, a remake can be better than the original, I don't believe they should ever be done. If the studio believes that a movie should be back in the theaters, then simply put the original back into the theater. Whatever it makes would be pure profit.
I just got super stoned and had a thought… We always talk about how over the top Nicolas Cage’s acting is in the movies he stars, but we never hear about the director telling him to “Give it more!” Like, it’s in the movie for a reason, and it’s probably exactly what the director wanted
A billion dollars because fans are stuck on anything nostalgia. Makes no sense 🙄 It's a prime example to why Disney keeps making these live action films. Because fans will flock to see that mess
I don't care what anyone says Nic Cage killed it in the Wicker Man, the scene where he snaps and just starts beating the shit outta all the women is top tier, especially if you consider all the othee movies he was putting out in that era.
Just wanted to mention Abel Ferrara did a remake with Body Snatchers. Of course, I'd never point that out to him because that guy's a friggin' nutcase. He's made of 40% drugs & booze and 60% fury. Great director, though...
Yeah…the creators of the original Child’s Play aren’t in a position to be able to trash anyone else for “tainting Chucky”. They were involved in every single sequel (and thus were responsible for actually messing the franchise up with the dumb pivot into dark comedy and trying to make Chucky an antihero). The 2019 remake was actually scary and did an admirable job of going in a different direction with the general concept of Chucky (and even bringing back some ideas from the original yet sadly rejected conceit of the first film of having both pointed social commentary about the toy industry and Chucky be an outlet for Andy’s suppressed anger towards others.
ALWAYS watch the originals 1st, especially if they are pre 1990. Remakes are just bad writing, extremely long stupid action, etc... Storytelling died when CGI started.
Child's Play was stupid remake or original. Friday The 13th remake pissed me off. I loved the franchise. But the remake was terrible. I loved The Lion King remake. Its was better than the original in my opinion
Almost all of these are stupid as shit that anyone has something to say but the worst and most hypocritical is the lion king one seeing as they basically stole that movie idea from a Japanese movie to begin with , I'm sure the people who made that movie were probably not super excited to be straight up ripped off. One of the only ones on the entire list i actually agree with is the child's play remake and the only reason I agree with that one is because the series that it was remaking was literally still going
I expected "The crow" to top, or at least appear on, the list. Alex Proyas is certainly no fan of the remake.
Does anyone like the remake?
I was going to say the exact same thing! lol
I’m not sure if it counts as a remake. I agree it was awful, but it would be like calling Batman (1989) a remake of Batman the Movie (1966) or Batman Begins a remake of Batman the Movie. @@staggerlee1869They advertised it as a remake, so in this case, I guess it counts.

I always laugh when critics claim that a remake (Red Dawn) isn't as good as the original... when they didn't like the original!
What you forgot was that George Romero had bumper stickers with "FAST ZOMBIES SUCK" on it
First movie to use fast zombies was actually a parody, Return of the Living Dead. It was also the first to have them seeking brains. Awesome soundtrack.
The Crow needs to be part of this list
The bad lieutenant "remake" has the great advantage in that it was made by Werner Herzog..... And that's a good thing

They remade Fame?
Imagine the outcry if Guy Ritchie were to remake The Godfather...
Don't give them any ideas.
Didn't they steal the original story of the Lion King..... The White Lion?
You mean Kimba? The makers of the Animated Lion King claimed they never heard of it... and their source material was Hamlet.
@@brunozeigerts6379 that's it...... but I call BS on that explanation.
@@willijs8 So do I. Even the makers of the Simpsons knew it.
'You must avenge my death Kimba...I mean Simba.'
I didn't get the Kimba joke at the time BUT I do now and I didn't make the Hamlet connection until my English teacher started mentioning each similarity one at a time, when I said " HOLY 💩" she didn't even get mad 😹
Yes
The Chucky television show is really good also
Leigh Whannel would've been a nice choice to direct a sequel to the CHILD'S PLAY remake
Box office success or not, there will be no sequel to the "Child's play" reboot. Since "M3gan" xeroxed that storyline beat for bear, too much greater acclaim as well as profit, we can safely say that vacancy has now been filled and then some.
If Hitchcock was alive, he would weep bitter tears at viewing Psycho remake.
Gotta disagree with ya on the Dawn of The Dead remake. That shit was great.
I got angry at the Wickerman remake too because it not only didn't stayed true to the original but also didn't done that to it's own story.

There's also a 1988 movie called Spellbinder that bears a lot of similarity.
NOOO Not the BEE'S!! 🐝 🐝 🐝

The bad lieutenant remake was arguably better than the original.
The "his soul is still dancing" scene is gold.
No Swept Away (2002)? The director angrily reacted by saying " WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY MOVIE!?" when he saw it.
They forgot Clash Of The Titans.
Love your content ❤❤❤
As the joke goes: "Why do they make remakes? Because they didn't get it wrong the first time."
The animated “Alladin” heavily ripped off the then unreleased “the thief and the cobbler”
A billion dollars because fans are stuck on anything nostalgia. Makes no sense 🙄 It's a prime example to why Disney keeps making these live action films. Because fans will flock to see that mess
I agree
I saw the remake of Dawn of the Dead three times in theaters. It's still one of the best zombie flicks.
I agree
Strange to expect to be paid in something you are not a part of. Starring in an animated movie 30 years ago has nothing to do with a current remake
Wasn’t the original Aladdin writer hired to write and script and that’s all? Why would he get anything from the live action version?
Cant forget about Super Fast
Rusty Goffe *hated* the Tim Burton remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
And dahl's family including dahl before his death hated goffe's adaptation while loved the burton one

Are reboots considered remakes?
The Fame remake was AWFUL. I loved the original and I WANTED to like the remake. 🤷♀️
Port of call is an amazing movie 😂

I prefer the remake of Dawn of the Dead over the original to be honest.
The wicker man remake was a disgrace. An absolute loada shit

Child’s plays wasn’t to made it wasn’t the og but my
Guy that voiced him a legend chucky Luke skywalker and joker mark doing side quests 😂
Edited that comment and it still makes no sense 😂 idiot
The original Wicker Man was a good movie? They were both awful, imo😂😂😂

2012's Red Dawn remake is so much better than the original.
I agree
… I don’t like any of the movies on this list. Originals nor remakes. 😅😅
Some remakes/reimaginings that I did like were IT, Pet Semetary, Rob Zombies take on Halloween,
Snyder's Dawn of the Dead is better, scarier, and far better acted than Romero's. sorry. i said it.
