$270 for canada. Crazy expensive for this. Missing key characters, building not bent as much. shame really. I think they should offer each module separate just to buy the Jack/Sally scene.
@@hereinsideisthemetal5841 I agree with you! Lots of misses. If they were all there this might be better, but I really think too many people just find ways to justify the absurd prices Lego charges for the pieces.
It's really not that good value; sure there's a lot of pieces but most details are hidden away or very tiny, so the overall volume of this is barely any greater, or no greater than the Indiana Jones Temple of the Golden Idol set which costs less. Yes that has far less parts but it's almost the same size and is a lot more interactive; this just doesn't look like something that costs $200. The figures, Zero and Jack are great but the rest are not done well and are very cheaply done; Sally is a huge downgrade from the CMF version and the trio is incredibly bland looking. It's not the end of the world, but this is a $200 set which most of us have to pay for; it's unforgivable for things to be cheaply done. People have got far too comfortable with relying on price per part ratios to judge value and are allowing flaws to get passed through.
I 100% agree that all you needed was moon diorama. As a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan, that is the part that really speaks to me and fully captures the feel of the movie.
As a massive Nightmare Before Christmas fan, this was my most anticipated set. And it doesn’t disappoint! A lot of people are upset about Lock Shock and Barrel and I’ll admit they’re not perfect, but they are very basic colored characters in the movie to begin with. The lack of Oogie also doesn’t shock me either, he would have been a difficult character to translate to Lego. Honestly my only complaint is nitpicking about the Christmas decor. One of the wreaths should have 100% included eyes and teeth like the one in the film! Or maybe include some of the iconic “gifts” like the toy duck or the snake.
Lego absolutely should release the graveyard as a set with Sally, Jack & zero for Halloween. I think it would be a bestseller. I think I will buy this but if they released the graveyard on it's own I wouldn't have to think about it.
Nah, while $200 is not awful, it's still too much for this; again, we can't just keep on looking at the price per part ratio and judge the value based on the part count alone. I will not count the licensing as Lego has had the Nightmare licence for years. And on the surface and at a glance, it's hard to imagine this set has so many pieces since so many of them are tiny or hidden away; it's overall a relatively small build for the cost. This might sound unreasonable but I'm going to go there as there's a lot of unreasonably overpriced sets lately, I would knock 20% to 25% off this as I don't feel there's enough here justify it costing $200. I'm not a minifig obsessed guy, but the figures, while all new with Zero being specialised, are a let down with Zero, Jack and Santa being the clear highlights, but the rest are surprisingly very bland and Sally is a severe downgrade from the CMF version which came out FIVE years ago!
Looks great to me, but if you're on the fence about it, then waiting until it's on sale or with a 2x+ points might be your best bet to get more value out of it.
This set looks so good. It really captures the aspects of the movie itself, and Lego really knocked it out of the park with this one. I just wish the set had the Oogie Boogie as a minfig. That’s what this feels like it’s missing.
I don't know what's worse... Lock, Shock and Barrel not having their masks, the amount of stickers or the fact that you only watched this movie because you were reviewing the set!
@achannelhasnoname5182 8:18 "After watching the movie for the FIRST time..." I don't hate Lego, I just think they missed an opportunity to make a really fantastic set. The masks Lock, Shock and Barrel wear in the movie are iconic. If they went to the effort to make Zero, they could have made the masks too. I'm not the only person who dislikes stickers. I would have even been prepared to pay more for this set if the kids had their masks and there were less/no stickers. I'm not sure why you mention knock off sets, I only buy official products.
100% agree. The spiral hill would have been an amazing diorama set on its own, and much cheaper. Now, I love this set but I feel the town hall and Jack’s house are a little excessive.
Ok I love this. Can build with my two kids, giving them their own build. Plus, we can build it now for Halloween, then redecorate it for Christmas. I think with the quality of the build, the three separate buildings, the ability to redecorate for both Halloween and Christmas, plus being able to do that every year, justifies this price alone. Definitely will be picking this up.
This is probably the first time I’d want Lego todo a full series for this. You make a good point that each build definitely can be sold as separate sets. Like they could have done what they did with Harry Potter and have them be modular builds that connect with one another. Would have spent so much money on that idea.
This was the first time you watched the movie? Good thing you've finally caught up to the magnificence that is The Nightmare Before Christmas!! I wish they had made provisions for Lock's, Shock's and Barrel's masks...they're essential to the "trick or treat" theme of Halloween!
7:42 I wish they had built the tower better to make it actually look like a watch tower rather than a chimney. That is where Jack’s study is and where he holds up for days while he figured out Christmas. At the very least they should have made it with a clear cone piece to make it look like windows instead of a gray cone piece.
The Nightmare before Christmas is my favourite movie and so I was eagerly awaiting this set. I would have loved the skeleton reindeer to be included (since they were in the original build). In my opinion the spiral hill is an improvement. I love it!
If they hadn't incluced Lock, Shock, and Barrel, I'm sure there would've been some angry fans, and I would've questioned the choice, but now that I've seen the Lego versions of those characters, I think I'd rather they include the band that plays on the sidewalk instead.
I’m a bit late, but something I would do anything for Lego to do is make a minfigure series. There are so many different characters in the movie, like the clown and the musicians, that would be perfect to have in a series. Since it would be based on one non-Lego movie I don’t think it would be made, but I can dream. Maybe people could even give them out to tick or treaters as well?
Came back a month later now owning this set to share my thoughts. I have to say I love it so much. The build was pretty easy and it turned out really great. My only tiny nitpick was the fact that I find a lot of loose connections. The mayors hat, the podium, some of the tomb stones, the gate statues, the final curl of the hill, and the walls of the fountain. You have to be very careful handling the set. I am looking forward to getting the Wicked Brick display case to keep it safe.
Omg, stickers.... This should not have stickers. This should be exclusive printed pieces for this price and piece count. Lock, shock and barrel should have masks! That's their character. Still a good set but come on lego, make it cheaper or make it better.
I agree completely. They went to so much effort making Zero, why not make the masks too? Personally, I would be prepared to pay more if the kids had their masks and there were fewer/no stickers. Probably going to give this set a miss or wait for it to be in a sale.
I agree! They should do just the moon and graveyard with jack sally and zero for $50-$60 The whole set is just too much for too little. Like the stranger things set was $200 and that was soo much better and innovative
I have to agree with others. The hill on his own would be an instant seller. Everything else is unnecessary. And Lock , Shock and Barrel masks are missing.
I'm happy LEGO priced this set at 200. Feels like they could have been greedy but instead gave the fans a break with an affordable set like this given it's size, detail, and custom elements. Couldn't be happier, good job LEGO! WIll be purchasing this one myself.
@@jeffc4862 missing 2 iconic characters and alternate masks for the 3 trick or treaters is what makes it really not worth 200, I would say 150 at this point, 50 for each part.
this was cute to see you review but not something i need for myself; gotta save space for things i really want. still, it’s awesome that this got you to watch the movie! such a great film 🖤
I'm pretty sure the bat bowtie was used on one of the CMF lines for a previous short legged Jack Skellington. (forgot which one though) I also think Sally's head print is the same as the old one too.
It's very disappointing that Lock, Shock, and Barrel don't have their masks. That's really what makes them recognizable characters. It would have been extremely easy to have the masks as the alternate face print, but it would have been super cool to have them as a neck accessory!

Love your videos, Tiago, and your accent. "Doombo" is my favorite! :-). I have to say that the only fail I see on this set is that Lock, Shock, and Barrel don't have their MASKS! That's the way they're seen in most of the movie and iconic, IMO. Other than that, this set looks fantastic!
The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie, can't wait to get this set. But like some others have said; Lock, Shock, and Barrel could have been done a bit better with them having their masks. Great price for the set as well.
Looks great overall but the Sandy Claws figure looks nothing like he does in the movie. Should be waay fatter - His physique in the movie is more similar to the mayor (not including head) than a minifig. And beard almost reaches his feet. Honestly, it would be hard to do in lego form - I think they should have just left him out altogether. It also would have made more sense not to include him since the set is Halloween town and all the other figures are residents. Finkelstein instead would have been made more sense and probably turned out a little better.
I absolutely love this movie and this set really doesn't do it for me. It's somehow too much and too little at the same time. Jack's house and the town hall builds feel so superfluous to me, they're nice enough builds but they don't really add much and feel like padding. All we really needed was the spiral hill! The minifigs are also really disappointing except for Jack, Sally, and Zero- Oogie's boys are extremely plain, and the Mayor is just plain weird. I'd have taken Oogie Boogie himself over Lock, Shock & Barrel any day. $200 is insane for this. I just want the hill.
I like it but it’s almost like Lego might become a victim of their own success soon with the 18+ market. The prices are just too high if you’re interested in Lego as a hobby, so people like myself are having to become more picky and selective. $200 for this and $300 for the Zelda set releasing on the same date is just hard to justify, so it becomes a bit more taxing deciding on what sets to buy.
Nice! Or should I say, “What’s this?!” 😺💙🐾 Great review and I look forward to purchasing this set on day one! Here’s to getting Beetlejuice as a set soon, too!
This set really needed a buildable Oogie Boogie and Jack in his Santa outfit in my opinion. I also would have preferred if they just cut the town hall and made Jack’s house bigger, because it’s sooooo small
I’m catching up on your videos and watched this after the Fortnite one (my son loves the Beefboss head). We have the bus, have been planning to get the llama, and after your review, probably Peely too. That video and this one mention cost which I’ve been blown away with (same with the Winter Village), recently. Do you think LEGO has realized that they need to come down off their prices a bit to maintain higher sales? Obviously some of us are buying sets regardless, but it seems like many of the new releases have been way more reasonably priced than previous years. Even the botanical garden seemed reasonable priced and the rumored price of $230 for the new modular seems like a great price. Even though I’ve been behind- still absolutely love your reviews!
Welcome to the channel, appreciated the support! I don't think there's been a significant change in LEGO ways of pricing sets, but sure is great to see things not being incredibly overpriced. Unless we talk big IP's of course like SW, Marvel, Harry Potter, etc...
This is Halloween. I’m surprised you never saw the movie before. Such a great movie in claymation and the best soundtrack featuring the music of Danny Elfman
Totally original fun fact that you've never heard before: the nightmare before Christmas wasn't directed by tim Burton it was directed by Henry sellick the guy who also made Coraline
This could just be my option but like the old jack and sally mini figs from the blind bags, way more detail. When i get my set im using the old sally figure and the old jack head
i would have got it if it was 60 bucks only for the hill scene with Jack, Sally and Zero, but 200$ for buildings and characters that feel like a second thought doesnt feel right
Jack and Sally were in the Disney CMF series. Sally had a custom hair piece, which is still used to this day, but not in this set for some unfathomable reason. Jack had this same bowtie. He also had arm printing and leg side printing. This new version doesn't but it might be a limitation of the long arms and legs. Lock should've had the devil tail piece. Shock's hat doesn't look right. the regular wizard hat might've been better. Santa looks nothing like he does in the movie. Zero seems too detailed, doesn't even look like lego. Big fan of the movie but this set, for 200€, is kinda disappointing..
I couldn't more agree that having the hill diorama as a standalone set would be an insta buy for me if it was price at less than 70$ (1/3 of the total price, although presumably it's the part with the smallest piece count). However I understand that this is an Ideas product and people would be fuming if they did that (some already are). And releasing "redundant" sets wouldn't really make sense for LEGO.
Getting Lock, Shock, and Barrel is simply unforgivable. I know for a fact there are three more characters I would have wanted more. Instead we got three boring figures that don't even feature the iconic masks
Tiago damn u seem to be going super easy on this one man. Maybe it’s cause u didn’t have a strong connection to the movie but i think big fans will feel let down by this

Looks amazing fun set will get this for Halloween before Christmas 🎄 👍
The moon piece is fascinating
They should sell just the hill section! With Sally, Jack and zero. I’d buy that
3:20 oh he’s starting fires 😂
🔥🔥🔥
1:39 Barrel looks like Suicide Squad Joker
This is Halloween. I’m surprised you never saw the movie before. Such a great movie in claymation and the best soundtrack featuring the music of Danny Elfman
200 is absolutely insane for this set. Lego has become more more of a luxury item than an actual toy at this point. These prices are disgusting.
Good one. I put it on the long-term list.
Doombo is back!
i would have got it if it was 60 bucks only for the hill scene with Jack, Sally and Zero, but 200$ for buildings and characters that feel like a second thought doesnt feel right
0:09 this is sickkkkk
$200 USD according to the LEGO site
Might actually get this one tbh
If only they could’ve made a Oogie boogie figure
Thanks for your review. Does the moon glow in the dark or are any bricks coming with this set gitd bricks?
No glow in the dark stuff with this one I'm afraid
@@TiagoCatarino Thanks for your quick answer. 🙋♂️
Lego should make a coralline set now!
Lock, Shock and Barrel are terrible minifigs, omg. They should at the very least have their masks as the alternate face printing.
I feel like jack in this set is way better than the one they had in the Disney CMF series one year.
So, does this count as this year's Christmas Village set, or are we getting one of those as well?
I need this🎉
And they leave Oogie Boogie? That should have been a definite if you're kidnapping santa
Is there any difference with this Sallie and the cmf one?
they could fix the thin lady with a lego friends figure... that simple.
Getting Lock, Shock, and Barrel is simply unforgivable. I know for a fact there are three more characters I would have wanted more. Instead we got three boring figures that don't even feature the iconic masks
Tiago damn u seem to be going super easy on this one man. Maybe it’s cause u didn’t have a strong connection to the movie but i think big fans will feel let down by this
Are any of the pieces glow in the dark? That would have added a nice extra touch.
Not that I’ve noticed
Ive got an aliexpress version of jack's house, for 1/20th of the price and looking a lot more like the original.
That "take that Star Wars" really hurt as a Lego Star Wars fan 💀
I actually met the guy who built the original model and saw the it
Wow I can’t wait
3:20 So sad that Star Wars clones cannot get waist capes anymore 😢
