- Today I bring you along with me for a day in the life at my work as an Amazon Prime Now Shopper (at a Wholefoods location). I am not actually clocked in in all of the clips of the video. But I hope this gives you all a better idea of what it's like to work at Amazon. I have been working at Amazon for over half a year, and I have no complaints so far. It is a very chill work environment and I would recommend it for college students and anyone who wants to make extra income. This video is not affiliated with Amazon, nor am I getting paid to make this video. All opinions are my own.

I used to work as an Amazon shopper but for a warehouse location rather than Wholefoods, and at one point we had people, doing exactly what you do, came over to our site as temporary (as a helping hand). I talked to the girl that does what you do, said she came over here to see what it was like for us warehouse shopper compares to wholefood shoppers (yes this is still Amazon) and she was telling just how crazy fast pace our side of the job were compares to hers, and that we also had a walk in fridge and walk-in freezer while they had none. If anyone was wondering, us Amazon warehouse shopper had HUGE size walk-in fridge as well as walk-in freezer, and as the names suggested, these fridge and freezers were so big that you can literally walk inside them to grab food such as refrigerated or frozen items such as milk, or ice cream, respectively. And also yes, we had to stow (restock) items in those said walk-in freezers and fridge and all the girls in my warehouse HATES and I mena HATEEEEESSS working in the walk-in freezers…HATES. haha. But yeah she was saying that I should switch over to her wholefoods site with her instead because we warehouse had to pick up shifts like wholefoods shopper does, bit our shifts were only 4 hours (per shift) and I believe you guys get 4 and 5 hour shifts instead? The only thing she absolutely love was how much fin and energy me and a few of my fellow warehouse workers bring to our job sites. Faster pace workers tends to be much more energetic, outgoing, and athletic than counter-parts. And she was right, I absolutely love talking to people, silence makes me uncomfortable and I love making my introverted colleagues feeling like their apart of something and everybody at that sites loved me, no lie.
One thing extra: due to our being a much faster pace than WholeFS is, we warehouse worker could be walking from anywhere between 10-15 miles per day, and that was in a tiny warehouse ~ they recently move (and definitely yes MOVED) to a much bigger warehouse (3 to 4 times the size of our previous location). How did you apply? I'm on the Amazon site and all they show me are warehouse jobs even though I have many Whole Foods nearby. Is it a separate site?
It’s the same site. There’s probably no openings at Whole Foods at the moment.

At first it took me about a week. Then it took me a month because they had over hired so they pushed my start day back.
I've been doing it for over a year. It has its moments. My UPH finally hit 80🤪 although it has no real purpose.

@@kasheem1747 it pays 15 an hour and if you can get shifts, it would be worth it. If you can get 6+ shifts, you can make a decent amount of money weekly. but if you're mainly gold ( this is a rewarded to workers that get 60 hours a month. They're able to pick their schedule a week in advance & usually enough shifts there unlike regular). If you're struggling to get shifts, you're gonna struggle to make money.
I may be quitting, due to just having a baby, and looking for a work from home gig now.

I was hired from Amazon last year and I never went to work, except the first day for completing a test or training or something like that on an application. A couples weeks later, I got a paycheck for $1,300 dollars 😏 without working any day. I could not work beca there was a problem with my password.
That was a sign-on bonus. You will have to repay it if you didn’t complete a certain amount of hours lol

Is it easy to pick up more shifts? I’m on the “pick shifts” but it only has 2 days and both are 4 hour shifts.
It's simpler to see which day you're picking with AtoZ, but you have to click on separate days to choose a shift and that to me takes up a lot of time. Shifts might be gone by the time you pick a shift on another day.
So lets say today is Sunday, shifts that drop today at 6:15pm are three days ahead. So, you should be seeing tuesdays and wednesdays shifts I believe (maybe monday if your site is running low on shifts or has a predicted spike day and will need more shoppers.

Awesome! I always wondered how my Prime groceries were picked out. They do a really good job picking the best fruits and vegetables. I was scared to order at first but was pleasantly surprised. Now I’m hooked 🤣….thanks for showing how it’s done! 🙂

I entered the Whole Food Market / Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC with the intent of purchasing bath soap. I was carrying a reusable grocery bag containing two items I had just purchased from CVS.
Without touching Whole Foods merchandise, I visually determined that this location was sold out of the brand of soap that I wanted therefore I proceeded to the exit.
Before reaching the exit, I was stopped by Troy a Whole Foods Associate who informed me that I could not put Whole Foods merchandise into my bag without first paying for it. Further, he stated that there’s a sign had been posted near the entrance.
I also noticed that the store security officer had moved from the entrance and positioned himself at the top of the stairway used to exit from the lower level of the store.
I am concerned as to why Troy needed to remind me of a store policy that I had not remotely violated as I had not so much as touched Whole Foods merchandise and why a security officer was placed on “stand-by”.
Is Whole Foods / Foggy Bottom profiling, everyone, with a reusable bag as a thief. Or, do I fit a particular profile?

Thank you, AtoZ is honsetly more complicated than amazon moment (in my opinion).
One thing I like about AtoZ, is that you're able to narrow down which site you would like to work at (if you can work at multiple sites). And you can also see different days instead of a dropdown schedule (which was harder to differentiate the days)
The downside to this, is that shifts might be gone if you click on the next day. The time it takes to refresh the page to look at the following day shifts could be time in which other people are picking the other shifts and you might not find any more shifts as a result. I hope that makes sense lol.

How do you get a high uph
Pick as many items as possible. Know where every item is in the store to be able to pick as fast as you can.
Lol I got no maps my first day was a disaster I couldn’t find anything and I felt dizzy and I got vertigo& was about to pass out and headaches I had weak knees ..UPH was low(21) I got a msg from the manager but now am a pro with 48uph....all because never been to a grocery store my 6 sisters shop for me 😁

@@lucysantiago2067 It has its Pros and cons. Pros: You get to close your own schedule if you apply for FLEXtime, you can choose how much or how little you work. Cons: you are not guaranteed shifts, shifts fly like hot-cakes.

Orders not shifts
I've seen people say it hard to get shifts. How hard is it to get 20 hours a week and without working weekends if possible. I have autism so this job seems perfect for me. I'm just really wanting a job that is Monday-Friday with about 20 hours every week. Thanks
Hi! I think it depends on your location. If your store has a lot of workers (because it's a busy store), then it might be hard to get shifts. A lot of people want to get the morning shifts so those definitely fly quickly at any store. You have to be on time when the shifts drop. :)

You get to pick your own shifts on a first come first serve basis. But someone who works at a different store commented and told me that they don’t get to pick their shifts. So I guess it depends on the store you work for.

So I have 2 shifts in one day, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and the other at 3:45 pm to 8:15 pm. And I’m wondering if I just clock out then clock in for my next shift or can I work the straight hours? (Without clocking out)
a break is mandatory when you're working 8 hours or more. I think you will get an occurrence if you don't take your break because Amazon can get in trouble.

Good video. It gives an idea of what to expect. I was hired as an in store shopper at Whole Foods. I haven't started yet. I did a few trainings online and they kinda impose all in store shoppers must keep themselves busy when no order has been assigned. Like: helping a coworker finish an order.

my store is relatively busy. when there's no orders you help other shoppers (but most of the time they don't want help #tea). I was trained by a lead when I started in May 2020.

They will do my schedule based on my availability and business needs. Hopefully they will offer me a long term position after the 90 days are done. I wanna be able to design my own schedule.

How much shopping do you have to do for people?
Depends how many orders you do in a day. It’s not like you can choose which orders you accept/decline. A lot of people think this is like instacart but it’s not.
at least you have a table at my location we have no table to pack out groceries we have to pack things into the cart and stuff its kinda makes things harder and untop of that i am like 5'2 there aren't any ladder stations like they promised and .. water stations and customers are allowed to eat in the break room our store is small so it gets kind of crowded and people aren't really following covid guidelines ... I saw the positive in this job at first but, its kinda of hard to feel safe when people are telling me numbers are more important than my health. -sighs- (sorry about the ranting wish I could have a easier time.)

You're supposed to wear jeans but each site enforces dress code differently. You'r not allowed to wear big logos.

I've heard that some Amazon jobs you only need to work a few shifts per month to remain an active employee. Is it the same with this position?
yes, it used to be like that but now they will give you a negative point if you do not work a minimum of 4 hrs a week

To apply to this position you need to apply on amazon jobs. Nothing is done through whole foods (application wise). Amazon will then show you the positions open either for warehouse, at a wholefoods location, or an amazon fresh location. You choose your own schedule on AtoZ.
How many breaks do you get? And which ones are paid breaks and which ones are not?
If you work a 4 hour shift you get a paid 20 min break. I think it’s usually 15 mins but currently it’s 20 because of Covid.
If you work 8 hrs you get a 20 mins paid break and a 30 mins non paid break.
Make sure you wear an adult diaper.
Is amazon Prime Now Warehouse the same run down as Prime Now Whole Foods?
In some ways. They have differences and also a different training process. The warehouse have many brands and wholefoods only carries Whole Foods items or organic type of items

They’re going to remove the role and have the WHOLEFOODS associates do it. So you would have to apply as a Whole Foods worker unless you work at the grocery fresh stores

At my site we have no lockers unfortunately. Som wholefoods are small and use their lockers for their workers. So many times there's not enough gor amazon workers. You're allowed to carry a small bag or purse with you around your shift.

Hi! I would recommend some jeans and a regular shirt (long sleeve if you want sometimes it gets cold). Definitely bring comfortable shoes!

Does the WF shopper (who picks the items/bags/tags in the store) gets the tip that's with the order or only the delivery driver ?
Without tips this seems kinda unfair as bulk of the work (which requires some sort of brain activity...) is done by the shoppers. The drivers just haul it around! Please clarify
No tips. Start pay in the south is $15
Do you get free Amazon Prime membership as an employee?
Unfortunately we don't but you get a discount code you can use on things sold by amazon and you also get some perks like investing in Amazon stock, 41k, paid time off, and discounts on other things as well.

Of course! When you do your training usually they will let you know of other perks. They can even help you get loans to get a car or buy a house I believe. ( I haven’t tried it my self but they’re there). ☺️ good luck !

I am not sure about face piercings, but I think ear piercings are fine.
You’re allowed to have one facial piercing. The only piercings they say are not allowed are septum rings and large gauges.

Hi, yes we do wear gloves. As I mentioned in the video I wasn’t actually clocked into a shift. You can tell I’m wearing gloves in a clip I inserted when I was actually working. ☺️ hope this makes you feel at ease.
Gloves don’t protect against germs according to the CDC. Besides, customers don’t wear gloves and they can walk in and touch everything they want before the items get to your home.

No, i don’t think so. I’ve never tried. But you get discounts on amazon.com after you’ve worked there for 3 months

how many orders are you required to do in a shift? also do you do multiple orders at once?
1 order at a time . and you are not required to do a certain amount of orders in a shift , but you do have a uph (units per hr) goal that management wants met . it’s usually btw 50-60 units per hr .

If you work 90 hours per month including six weekend days you will earn Gold Status for the following month. You get to pick your shifts two weeks in advance. It’s a great advantage to have!

It wouldn’t be possible then to achieve with working on Saturdays alone right, since there aren’t usually six Saturdays in a month.

Can you wear khakis?
I was told I couldn’t wear leggings only jeans by the manager at my site.
I wear them at my store, I guess it depends if they enforce it or not
I wear them at my store as well. There's also a worker at my store who comes in with scrubs because I believe she works another job after her amazon shift. I haven't see any manager tell her anything. It depends on how lenient the manager is.

WHOLE FOODS PROFILES - CHAPTER II
THE RESPONSE: A Whole Foods Rep reached out with the generic “I am sorry that you had a bad experience at the Foggy Bottom location.”.
However, she seemed vague and confused as to why CRIMINAL PROFILING IS NOT OK.
When asked about the Security Office being called on me, she fibbed and insinuated that security was making his rounds and just happened to be standing at the top of the EXIT ONLY stairs.
The security guard is stationed at the front entrance of the store adjacent to the stairs leading DOWN to the lower level. If he truly was making his rounds (due to the layout of the store) it would have made better sense for him to:
1. Take the stairs to the lower level
2. Walk the lower level
3. Take the stairs to the upper level
4. Walk the upper level
5. Return to his position
So, the Whole Foods Rep either: neglected to view the security footage and (to protect Whole Foods) assumed that Security was making his rounds or viewed the security footage and lied to protect Whole Foods.
I find this attempt to placate to be amateurish and insulting.
