This is what a lot of the MCU has been missing; repetition of its characters themes at the emotional apex of certain scenes.
True. The only movie I can say I remember did this well was the original Guardians. They were proud of their child and wanted to show it off a lot (not that I'm complaining, it's my favorite MCU theme)
@Sam-nc5iq Yeah, and not helping is how they'd change their characters theme/motifs with each film. Phases 1 and 2 were the most guilty of this.

So I’m a musical theater major (essentially a professional theater theatre kid) and I don’t get taken seriously as much as I should for what I study. What I don’t think people realize is that THIS is musical theater too. And it’s badass. Lots of theater majors work on video games and movies and even write scores like this. This is what we do. The music nerds are the ones who make masterpieces like this

Right!!! Marvel used to move entire generations with its stories well-told. We got to really know the characters. We got to feel like a part of something bigger, something glorious. It’s sad that they aren’t able to evoke that level of collective emotion anymore, but we still have what was. 💙

The fact that Marvel didn't stick to dedicated leitmotifs for their characters is one of the biggest missed opportunities in the MCU. I just think it would have added so much to the overall series, and strengthened the connections between movies. The only memorable theme from all the movies, for me, is the Avengers theme.
If you ask me, if The Avengers theme isn't the most memorable would have been something wrong. MCU is built on The Avengers.
True, i remember spider man theme too
Iron man, spiderman and avengers theme r the 1s I actually know for some reason
this really was a missed opportunity. having their own theme mixed in really is something.
That's always been an issue with franchises. All the different composers, harder to keep track/collaborate, and everyone wanting to write their own themes.

This video is absolutley flawless. The music composition, remixing and blending together could not be done by even Alan Sylvestri himself. @@wilsonwahome8411gotta agree. This is really cool but it’s also busy and detracts from what is happening visually which is pretty busy. The use of having no music at all in places adds so much, and I think the portals theme works right to express the hope and desperation of what this is.

yeah, and it also adds to the scale and the feeling that this is THE end, THE climax to everything
The whole point of motifs is the familiarity, yeah
I think here it has the added bonus of putting more emphasis on each individual returning instead of it just being an overwhelming wave of cameos

I agree. It hits very well. However as good as this is in my opinion the original score fits better because the chord changes in "Portals" reflects the six different infinity stones, which are the real reason for the fight. I want to be clear that I'm not saying this score is not excellent. If this was in the movie I think it would be just as impactful. This is such an intelligent merger of the characters' respective leitmotifs. The transitions are seamless and do not feel forced. I can understand Silvestri's reasoning for not doing so as he did not want the cue to sound 'too busy', but here you have shown that not only does it retain the weight of the scene, it, in fact, enhances it by making it feel more 'epic' by reprising the most heroic renditions of their motifs. I liked it but in the movie the silence plays a huge part. The music only gradually becomes louder with each characters assembling together. It made the scene even more cool. It’s like the reemergence of hope that we thought we lost. Also it shows unity among characters. From being inferior to Thanos army to the point where we matched his army in terms of strength and quantity was awesome. So the music in the movie made so much sense. It’s like with each heros we were becoming stronger so the music supported it.

I went back and watched the original version after this comment and you made a really good point. The multi-theme version feels great after knowing the scene and reliving the excitement of the first viewing. But the slow growth of the original is so pivotal to that first time seeing the movie. You did a great job! I love it when a theme music is treated as an integral part of a character, and these themes were mostly forgotten/barely used after one movie. So it was nice to hear them. Thor arriving in Wakanda in Infinity War is also pretty amazing, and I don't think can be improved. At least, I wish I could hear the same orchestra do both versions so I could compare.
@@AmadeusFandubs No Way Home also referenced Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six (TASM2) for Electro and James Horner (TASM) for WebbVerse Spider-Man. As much as I love the Zimmer&M6 Spider-Man theme, it would have been too energetic and confidently heroic (without serious rearrangement) to fit what they were going for with that version of the character in No Way Home, so it made sense to go for the Horner one, which is by no means a bad leitmotif (although I have some notes on the rest of the TASM score...it feels like a temp score in places, and I don't know if that's because Horner was running short on time or because it got chopped up in the edit because of Avi Arad/Sony).
0:39 goosebumps ❤
I thought this would be a meme of every song just blasting full volume so it was chaos. I didn’t expect something so well made that it fully enhances an already great scene.
I still hold that this scene is one of the greatest in cinematic history. Being in the theater when this happened was something I’ll never forget.
It may not be "high art" (so sorry Scorsese) but AS art it was incredibly fulfilling to feel the hope and the power portrayed on screen, as a fan it was total fan service, and from a business aspect - this scene was the pay off to 22 movies over a DECADE. If you figure one person is worth a minimum of $20 a movie (either ticket or dvd) then you're looking at a per person investment of over $400.
We each paid $400 to get THAT scene, and we got what we paid for.

I totally agree. No movie experience will ever be like this one was at opening night!
I would say that The Ride of Rohirim still better. Just my opinion.
Jesus christ dude now I’m bummed out that the actually movie didn’t do this. The transitions were smooth af and I’m shocked the themes didn’t sound horrible together. This made an already epic scene legendary. If you could add the version to your Spotify that would be dope. Great job!
Don’t call Jesus in vain please
@@Psdpt this is a RUclips comments section, not a church. People are going to say things you don't like or agree with on the internet, and that's their right and choice. Please don't try to censor people for your religious beliefs, that's like asking someone to not eat cake because you're on a diet
@@sassylittleprophet I’m not censoring him neither am I forcing him to do anything. That’s why I said “please”. AlI I can do is give advice or reprimand which is what I did. God bless you.

haters wanna talk sm shut about the direction marvel is headed in
be glad they even gave us this MOMENT
like, we could only witness this moment in comic books and they actually brought it to life!!!
one thing i really wonder about is... how did they not think about making this the official soundtrack for the movie itself?
you’re a true creative for this masterpiece buddy bc even the studios couldn’t think to mix in all of the themes together for that goated moment
Goodness gracious that was the best background music ever
I really wish they hired people with passion like this to give more depth to moments like these
yea
This video is nice but the moment was executed to perfection. Let’s not act like everything Marvel has done has been a Mis-step
eh, this is cool, but the portals theme fits and sounds better. This jumps themes every 2 seconds, cool for a youtube video, jarring in an actual movie
this gives me chills the doctor strange-guardians-spiderman theme was amazing and this just gives it a more epic feel i can’t this is amazing
Damn that mix of the Avengers theme with the choir in the back really is more epic than the original
And *this* is why having strong, memorable leitmotifs matters. Because I don't recognize 90% of these themes, and this still hits pretty damn hard.
I can only imagine how hard it would hit if I was intimately familiar with every character's theme.
