I think Enzo's only guaranteed vote there is from Memphis and maybe David, but I can see him voting Nicole too.

I still don’t get the Paul was robbed thing. Nicole’s game was consistent and protected almost the entire game and Pauls game was in danger several times.

Dude , I'm from Bulgaria and don't even watch reality shows , but your story telling is on another level . We had Big Brother here years ago , but the winner was decided by text messages from people and now watching how the show was really meant to be played looks way more like exciting . Maybe i won't ever watch passed seasons , but the work done on those video essays is top notch.
Nicole is definitely a good Big Brother player. I can't stand her and would still roll my eyes every time I watch her but I can't deny she did play her best game she could play. If she would just own she was a villain, she could have potentially a fan base that embraced her.

YES! Been waiting for this one. Nicole is so polarizing, but I loved her game. My favorite player. So underrated despite being a returning player, and she knew how to use that to her advantage not once but twice. Winning then coming in third.

I agree. I think that’s one of the reasons that a lot of people out there don’t like her. They feel like she pretends like she wasn’t gaming when she really was (Janelle said something similar to that too.) But gaming is a good thing and Nicole should own it.
She got at least 3 to take the bullet for her intentionally without actually asking to do so. Final 4 and final 3 she should have been taken out, but James and Paul concerned about loyalty far over gameplay and strategy. And when James gave the HOH to her at the wall competition, she could have been an easy backdoor target.
When she needed to win comps and defend herself she always did, in beginning stages of bb 18 everyone made themselves targets so she really didn't have to do much aka jozea, victor
Ngl I don’t like Nicole but she is definitely one of the best because she knows who to target at the right time, knows how to lower her threat level & knowing how to survive as well. Additionally, her showmances took the target off her (Hayden & Corey) by them being serious threats that lasted her longer in the game. I also hate how she doesn’t own herself being a villain because she’s definitely an underrated one. Edit: 7.5/10 is a great score for her, the next video should be on Maggie or Jun, they are definitely underrated winners.
Id love to see a video on how the following players won: Lisa Donahue, Jun Song, Adam Jasinski, Jordan Lloyd, and Andy Herren. I think all of these winners were very underestimated and not often talked about
Hate to break it but Jordan won purely because of a twist and americas backing. But yes Andy, Jun and Adam are all underrated. Lisa in my view is okay but didn’t deserve the win, more of a passive player

Thank you for making yourself vulnerable to the YT old testament gods by placing the video of Nicole at work after describing both why she did it and how it would help her, as it helped demonstrate her strategic acumen in real time within context. I think this content helps give BB fans more tools to develop real-time game reads, which is always a good thing.

I've been watching you BB videos ALL week and I am so impressed by the level of detail and dedication you put in. I love how generous you are to the players, how you try and see it all through the lense of a solid strategy but also gently critisize them sometimes. Truly just enjoy your approach to it and wanted to thank you for the hard work. Also...I never watched a single episode of BB and am very confused at times by the gameplay itself but that's on me. I think the only thing I might add as critique is that you could mix it up a bit by showing the 'evidence' of your claim before you analyze it. Because I love your explanations but it would be interesting to sometimes see a scene play out FIRST and then have you explain the gameplay of it. Anyway, looking forward to more about a show I don't watch! :D
i thought of nicole poorly when she didn’t cut ties with paulie considering his actions but then once the finale came around i realized how important that was for her game
you have brought my love for big brother back. i dont remember if it was this season or 20 that made me stop watching but seeing these winner videos have made me remember why i loved this show so much. may give season 25 a chance now! can’t wait for Dr. Will and Derrick’s episodes!!
Her game has aged well. I remember at the time it felt underwhelming but her positioning throughout the season was exceptional and she shifted allegiances at the exact right time every step along the way. Love her or hate her, she has great reads on the flow of the game.
Yesss! Nicole is one of my favorite winners and I loved her journey on Big Brother 18. I personally think she’s definitely one of the BEST players in all of Big Brother and I would hope to eventually see her play again in the future!
Not to mention this is the longest most ridiculous season with so many twists and two battle backs with Nicole barely ever being in danger and even when her biggest enemy (Michelle) was gifted HOH still managed to stay off the block
I personally think the best quality a player could have is being adaptable. Being able to change the way they approach each player given the current circumstances. ie, backstabbing an emotional player will never work out great, but backstabbing someone who is there to play will work very well.

I make this comment before I watch the video so I will tell you my reaction afterwards. First impression: I do NOT like Nicole, but I look forward to watching this and seeing you convince me otherwise. Let us see if you are successful!
Ok, as promised, here is my post-video thoughts: This is a very good analysis. You cover her game very very well, and I appreciate you highlighting some of her more impressive feats in the game to help give her some more credibility to her win. I feel like out of the final 7, she probably deserved the win the most out of all of them. Her strategy and level of game play was the most deserving and impressive for a winning scenario and she masterfully got herself into that situation to begin with in a similar style as Dan did from BB10 (stay low for the first half or so, then dominate the end game). At the end of the day, there are three major flaws I can find with her game: 1. She is unfortunately not very good at competitions which on its own does not do her very well in most end-game scenarios. Now granted she was aligned with meat-shields that could win those comps for her, but in most situations, not being able to win at least some end-game comps can lead to you being in some hot water. 2. She is WAAY too loyal for her own good (as you pointed out), as she was actively attempting to make it to final 2 scenarios where she actively loses or has a MUCH harder time winning (going to the end with Corey, taking Paul to F2 over James because "her heart wouldn't let her cut Paul.") This is technically how she lost BB22 as she was TOO loyal to Cody who decided to cut her at the end. With these previous two traits combined, that leads me to 3. She got VERY lucky at the F3. The other times she could have been nominated (Week 4, F7 part 1) she was able to convince others to go after "bigger targets", so I don't fault her for not being nominated there. However, the stupidity that Paul demonstrated at that final eviction was actually asinine in them NOT evicting Nicole and taking James. And again, even if she HAD won that Final HoH, she would have taken Paul, who she very well could have lost against vs the easier route in James. So, to summarize, Nicole's F3 scenario was a bit too lucky for my taste as she survived being evicted by an asinine decision and avoided making said asinine decision because she is not the best at comps. At the end of the day, I think I would like Nicole more if she WAS willing to be slightly more cutthroat and actually cut the people necessary to win, but she won anyway, so can't fault her too much. Wow, that was a long rant. To conclude, I still don't like Nicole and I doubt I ever will, but I still do feel her game was pretty well played and deserved over Paul's more messy game in BB18 (even though I personally wanted them to win), even if she did get very lucky squeezing her way through that last hole. Also, I think 7.5 is a GREAT ranking for her game. Very impressive and gives credit where it is due, but still acknowledging a few of the flaws and lucky situations that occurred for her to gain the win.
@@nathanghisolfo5537 I think that this is the most equal final 2 there has ever been in the show's history. With that being said, if I were in the house and were just a totally neutral party (meaning equally friendly with both) I would *probably* have voted for Paul, but that is an extremely loose statement. I feel their games were both very equal in terms of what I look for in a winner, and because I find them so equal my vote likely would have fallen for who I was closer with. Also this kinda contradicts what I just said but I do feel that Nicole played a slightly better game than Paul, however I was more all around impressed with Paul's game as a whole. I talked about how impressed I was with Nicole going from the bottom of the house at the final 8 to then flipping it around and being in everyone's good graces by the final 7, and that's pretty close to what Paul did but at the very start of the game with like 15 people left in the house, where they started off immediately on the wrong foot and voted incorrectly at both the first two evictions, but immediately turned things around and was in good graces with practically everyone like one week later, and I found that extremely impressive for someone who didn't even know Big Brother that well beforehand. So although I feel Nicole played a bit of a stronger game I was more overall impressed with Paul's manuevering throughout many points in the game (being on the block 6 times I believe but likely only going to be evicted one of those times had something not gone their way) and I potentially would have voted for them over Nicole, but it really is a coin flip and likely would be decided by whomever I was closer to.
@@nathanghisolfo5537 I FULLY agree with your first two points. Edit: Well, not fully maybe. She's no comp beast but she's certainly capable of winning comps. BBComics is her comp, she's great at the wall comp (Including the most obvious throw I've ever seen to Dani in BB22), she's usually quite good at quizzes. Even in BB22 from the final 6 on (the point where she's definitively 100 percent trying) she only ever loses a comp to Cody (an incredible comp beast), and comes in second in all but one of the one she loses. I don't think she's BAD at comps, but both BB18 and BB22 have had major comp beasts present in the end game (Victor, Paul, Cody). Plus, she won like 3 HOHs her first season, so that should count for something too. However, I would argue the third one greatly. Nicole wasn't luckily taken to the end by paul, she flipped paul actively. Paul WAS planning on taking James to the end until Nicole started campaigning to them about how,likable James was, about how the jury would,be bitter against both of them, about how they wouldn't respect paul for taking the quote "easier beat" (nevermind that her points kind of contradict themselves. Paul didn't realize) And at first, live feeders thought,her campaigns did nothing, until suddenly, a couple hours after a big campaign session, paul was rehearsing their F2 speeches, and suddenly started referring to Nicole sitting next to them rather than James. While I do think Nicole definitely benefited from Paul not being game savvy at all, she also recognized that fact and capitalized on it to seize the win, which I respect a lot

I truly love these videos. I love how deep you dive into the house dynamics as to what made the winner a winner. From the strategies, game lingo, pillars of play, and straight up verbiage and way you present your words to translate to us as an audience of what is going on is astounding. Hope you can do old school and other country winners road to victory. I personally love the game play of the winners who were heavily dominant in the social aspect of the game as to me that’s what majority of the game is as it started as a social experiment that showed the dynamic between humans fighting for survival that is heavily influenced by relations to each other. I hope to see a deep dive on the social butterfly and princess of darkness Lisa from bb3 as her pivot to Danielle and Jason’s side is just superb to me and hopefully my fave Canada winner paras as her communication was dominant in how she lead conversations by mere suggestions of what she wants. A good example of that is the convo between her and Kayla arguing in the HOH. Awesome video and your deep diving work doesn’t go unnoticed.
I started watching Big Brother around 2 years ago, and Nicole was definitely a quick favorite of mine. I think her BB16 game was very fun to watch, and she was simply screwed by the twists. Her BB18 game is sooo underrated as a winner tho, and she needs more praise for her game! However, I personally wish she would've ended her BB journey here, as her BB22 game is/was quite controversial. I still do love Nicole, I think she's definitely an interesting player!
As someone who was originally shocked and pissed that Nicole won, I have since gained a lot of respect for her winning game. The edit definitely understated Nicole and overstated Paul. Paul was benefitted a lot by twists, as his best friend Victor was able to come back and take 2 additional bullets for him (3 total) an advantage no other BB player has ever had. Paul also made an atrocious move to evict James, a huge mistake on a level Nicole never came close to reaching.
maybe i love nicole because season 16 was my first bb season, but nicole franzel is definitely my favorite player of all time. really really thought she was going to be the first two time big brother winner
I personally really like nicole, and i strongly believe she is one of BB's best. I feel like people place too much emphasis on competition wins for how good you are at BB, while yes thats an important part, it also puts a target on your back. Although many may not like it, you have to be relatively subtle with your play style, and thats what nicole did.
Say what you want but Nicole is the best female winner. People say Maggie and Jun are above her but I’ll easily disagree because Jun was only winning by against Allison and Maggie could have gotten out any time the other side of the house won HoH. Nicole has the best positioning I’ve ever seen from a female winner and some of the best positioning in all of BB. She was guaranteed final 3 from the final 7 onward but you cannot say the same for Jun or Maggie. Nicole is easily one of the best to every play this game and easily deserving of the best female winner title. She Masterminded & Dominated the endgame and that’s just amazing in my opinion. Also I feel like that the season that Maggie won could have only been done with that specific cast because the friendship was just an atrocious alliance that Eric and Maggie led. We saw Nicole use the same strategy twice and almost become the first two time winner. Jun and Maggie amazing but they aren’t better game players than Nicole. They just aren’t. Say what you want but Nicole deserves the title of the best female winner.
The thing is the other side in BB6 won HOH multiple times and Maggie outmaneuvered them. Janelle played the veto on her and she manipulated howie into putting up James.
@@devondonato4609 That is true and Maggie deserves credit for that. The other thing is that Maggie was put on the block at least 2 times throughout her season. Nicole was never in danger of going home until the final 3 and never put on the block until the final 4. That just shows how good her positioning is. Also Maggie was up against terrible players in the final 4 such as Ivette, April and Janelle who were never great strategically, While Nicole was up against REAL competition from the final 7 onwards. She’s just too great of a game player for her not to be the best female winner.
I've never cared to watch BB but after seeing some of your reviews, I definitely want to watch a season now. Do you have any recommendations for which one I should see first or which era of the game I should focus on (i.e. early 2000s)?
Every era has a different feel to it, so it’s all about what you’re looking for. Big Brother 3, Big Brother 10, Big Brother 14, and Big Brother 20 are all great seasons that capture the essence of the different eras the show has to offer - you can start with any of them realistically and have a good time, although 14 will spoil past seasons
Yay my all-time favorite player ! She definitely may have made some mistakes in TAR and in BB22 that get her some well-deserved flack, but she doesn’t nearly deserve all of the hate she gets. She either gets hate for for something she can’t control (I.E. her voice/accent) or she’ll get hate for not wanting to work with the girls, which is stupid. Whatever gets her to the end of the game is a good strategy in my book. If she doesn’t work well with the other girls, that’s fine. She got burned by Christine in BB16 and was probably trying to prevent that again, so she used her other strategy of hiding behind big guys until it was the right moment to strike and pull off a move. She 100% deserved her win over Paul even though I loved them that season
Something about Nicole's game that I think should be noted is how she seemingly has a similar issue as Holly from BB21 or Haleena Gill from BBCan10 in that due to some external factors of the season, Nicole naturally does not have much win equity or respect from the jury. Nicole came very close to perpetuating the long-time myth that a woman is prone to losing to a man in a final 2 for external factors. Nicole was only able to edge out a win against Paul 5-4, despite how Nicole seemingly played a much cleaner and a more intact game, as well as having more control over the game. This is made a bit more surprising when you consider how Paul didn't really stress in his jury Q & A why he had to overcome more obstacles and more hardships than Nicole in his game. If he been able to properly pin down how Nicole DID in fact have some advantages in being a returning player that season, he likely could have picked up votes from Natalie and Da'vonne, making Nicole the runner-up, instead.
I read a comment on another video compared Nicole's BB18 game to Kevin Jacobs game from BBCan10. I believe the user, "Jay Jayh", lays out Nicole's advantages in BB18 quite well. "Nicole went into the game knowing paulie which is a huge advantage, Not to mention she was playing against newbies which was yet another huge advantage that she had that Kevin did not have. When I rank players I take into account their first game and Kevin won on his first try, Nicole did not. Kevin came into the game with a disadvantage because his archetype is usually targeted early on but yet he used that to his advantage and purposely made individual bonds with numerous people in the house. Even when he didn’t have power like you mention in the beginning of the game he used is influence to control and persuade Marty to put up Betty, and was making masterful moved even when he wasn’t in power in the beginning of the game. IMO having “control” of the game doesn’t make someone a better player..." taken from a comment thread from ruclips.net/video/36-ccTfzvSQ/видео.html Going into the season, Nicole practically had an alliance preset between the 4 vets and the 2 "siblings," Tiffany and Paulie, giving them a straightforward 6 person front that they can use to combat any newbies that try to take an "anti-vet" approach. On top of that, Paulie was one of the toughest competitors among the newbies that season. That's the main reason why I feel like parts of Nicole's game just fell into her lap, and why I find it harder for me to properly respect her win. I still think Nicole is an A-tier player at worst, but there is a reason why some people online felt that BB18 was tailored for Nicole and James, specifically.
This video is awesome, I've been bringing all of your videos the last couple days and this video made me respect Nicole a lot despite not having watched the season. As I'm new to this community I'd love to see someone talk more in depth about how Nicole played in BB22 because supposedly she was really controversial yet I don't understand why other than that "she didn't own up to being a villain". Maybe I need to watch BB22 for myself to find out but seeing an analysis from a fan would also be really awesome
Da made the right choice she said it perfectly "for us vets it was about redemption" she learned to use men as shields and always be perceived as a small threat which is what makes her a great player.
As bb18 is my favorite modern season (and one of the first seasons I watched live - although as a casual) I was rooting for Paul at the end and was disappointed when they lost to her. But after 6 years I have realized that she deservedly won the game against them and was able to protect herself so well throughout the entire season. The person I was actually rooting for the most was Michelle (I know, surprising). But I feel like she had some good strategy and placement throughout the show and was screwed over in the end by the co-HOH care package that she was gifted AND by Nicole's maneuvering in the week 10 HOH comp in securing the win from James in return for his and Natalie's safety (James never mentioned anything about Michelle) leaving her out in the cold left to be evicted in the end. I also think that Nicole breaking the tie in favor of Paul at the end of week 10 resulting in Michelle's eviction was one of Nicole's best moves. At the time, it didn't seem like the "more strategic" option for her (even though that's what she said), but afterwards I realized that it was one of her best moves because it places Nicole and Corey in the middle of the two other groups (Paul/Victor and Natalie/James). If Paul had been evicted at week 10, I feel like Victor would've jumped ship and joined the Natalie/James/Michelle side and Nicole and Corey would've most likely been picked off. Leaving the win to probably Victor (because of his likability by the jury) or Natalie (for the same reason). I would love to see more videos of this season as I feel like it is very underrated and that there is a lot of strategy and evolving alliances in this season that just made it so enjoyable to watch live
Nicole is an interesting figure in the BB community but I definitely get it. I mean, she was truly loyal to only a few people, she did a fair bit of backstabbing to win, and she definitely came off as a lot less likable compared to her run on BB16. In a lot of ways, I shouldn't like her compared to other women on BB who could pull off big moves like this while still appearing likable. However, that's weirdly why I like her, I respect everything she did to get the win at the end of the day. Nicole never floated her way to the end, she made calculated moves that put her in strong positions, and, much like Ika in BB Canada 5, she was able to survive even in some dire situations through her social game. That being said, I will also argue that as iconic as Ika is, I think she had her moments of going too far in belittling her fellow competitors, which was a pitfall I felt Nicole avoided very well. But one other context that I feel often gets overlooked in regard to her BB18 run is what happened to her in BB16. The thing is, while that season was loaded with some really strong players, the way Nicole was treated was absolutely inexcusable. Nicole tried to play an honest game, fought her way back in, and she got backstabbed by Christine and belittled by Caleb when she returned, despite proving herself more than some of the other players (really makes me think Caleb was more of a tool than he would have you believe in retrospect but I digress). Bottom line, Nicole came to BB18 to play and she decided on Day 1 that she was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She decided that her previous gameplan failed and that she had to do things differently the second time around. For me, I respect that immensely. I actually think Nicole is a very sweet caring person if you follow her on social media, but I think she went into game mode for this season and that was why she seemed like an emotionless and unlikable robot. As Davonne once said that season, it was about redemption for her and she got it! Even with all the betrayals she pulled, she still secured votes from several people she sent home, including Davonne, who for as much as she wanted to see Nicole lose, still respected her game and was prepared to vote for her as a result. You can be annoyed with Nicole all you want, heck I don't blame Natalie and Davonne for their frustrations with how she played the game, and I don't blame Bridgette and Michelle for voting for Paul over Nicole even if their reasons felt kinda petty despite Paul definitely being just as deserving that season! But I think Nicole deserves respect for the same reason we praise many of the male winners who were very manipulative and deceitful in their seasons, she played the game and she played it well. She may not want to admit she is a true BB villain, but to me it doesn't matter, she played one hell of a game and I am happy she won in the end! Side note: looking forward to the inevitable reactions from her and Victor's kids when they find out their Mom stabbed their Dad in the back and that their Dad did not vote for their Mom to win LMAO
These are definitely my favorite types of videos. My vote for next up is definitely Andy herren. I know he's not a fan favorite but people seem to either not understand his amazing gameplay or don't wanna give him credit cause they dislike him personally. Either way I'd love to see his game fully broken down. Especially since a rewatch of that season is less than enjoyable.

Don't know if anyone pointed this out but from my memory, I'm pretty sure that Natalie/Michelle's alliance would have had the numbers to flip the vote on Zakiyah even without James' care package since they had got Paul/Vic on their side at that point. The only reason James blocked Paul's vote was so that his involvement in the plan could remain a secret (even tho I'm pretty sure Nicole and co. worked it out anyway but w/e).
The only one mad is you. I didn’t like Nicole since season 18. She said Bayleigh said this about her and then started crying, when in fact it was her that said this. All she does is cry and play victim. And since you brought up Janelle, you thinking Nicole is better than Janelle is laughable.

Dude , I'm from Bulgaria and don't even watch reality shows , but your story telling is on another level . We had Big Brother here years ago , but the winner was decided by text messages from people and now watching how the show was really meant to be played looks way more like exciting . Maybe i won't ever watch passed seasons , but the work done on those video essays is top notch.
Nicole is definitely a good Big Brother player. I can't stand her and would still roll my eyes every time I watch her but I can't deny she did play her best game she could play. If she would just own she was a villain, she could have potentially a fan base that embraced her.

I agree. I think that’s one of the reasons that a lot of people out there don’t like her. They feel like she pretends like she wasn’t gaming when she really was (Janelle said something similar to that too.) But gaming is a good thing and Nicole should own it.
She got at least 3 to take the bullet for her intentionally without actually asking to do so. Final 4 and final 3 she should have been taken out, but James and Paul concerned about loyalty far over gameplay and strategy. And when James gave the HOH to her at the wall competition, she could have been an easy backdoor target.
Victor and Nicole on opposing sides in the house, married a few years later outside the house. Still a better love story than Twilight tho…
Nicole really did play a great winning game. Some flaws as you noted, but still really good instincts and maneuvering.
But most of the winners had more flawed games than her. And very few can brag about the fact of basically being set to win from F6.
When she needed to win comps and defend herself she always did, in beginning stages of bb 18 everyone made themselves targets so she really didn't have to do much aka jozea, victor
Ngl I don’t like Nicole but she is definitely one of the best because she knows who to target at the right time, knows how to lower her threat level & knowing how to survive as well. Additionally, her showmances took the target off her (Hayden & Corey) by them being serious threats that lasted her longer in the game. I also hate how she doesn’t own herself being a villain because she’s definitely an underrated one.
Edit: 7.5/10 is a great score for her, the next video should be on Maggie or Jun, they are definitely underrated winners.

I've been watching you BB videos ALL week and I am so impressed by the level of detail and dedication you put in. I love how generous you are to the players, how you try and see it all through the lense of a solid strategy but also gently critisize them sometimes. Truly just enjoy your approach to it and wanted to thank you for the hard work. Also...I never watched a single episode of BB and am very confused at times by the gameplay itself but that's on me. I think the only thing I might add as critique is that you could mix it up a bit by showing the 'evidence' of your claim before you analyze it. Because I love your explanations but it would be interesting to sometimes see a scene play out FIRST and then have you explain the gameplay of it. Anyway, looking forward to more about a show I don't watch! :D

Her game has aged well. I remember at the time it felt underwhelming but her positioning throughout the season was exceptional and she shifted allegiances at the exact right time every step along the way. Love her or hate her, she has great reads on the flow of the game.

Yesss! Nicole is one of my favorite winners and I loved her journey on Big Brother 18. I personally think she’s definitely one of the BEST players in all of Big Brother and I would hope to eventually see her play again in the future!
Not to mention this is the longest most ridiculous season with so many twists and two battle backs with Nicole barely ever being in danger and even when her biggest enemy (Michelle) was gifted HOH still managed to stay off the block

I personally think the best quality a player could have is being adaptable. Being able to change the way they approach each player given the current circumstances. ie, backstabbing an emotional player will never work out great, but backstabbing someone who is there to play will work very well.

YAY!!!! Thank you Ethan! I have been waiting for this for a long time! Rough as hell day at work, made SO much better with a long awaited video from you! I make this comment before I watch the video so I will tell you my reaction afterwards. First impression: I do NOT like Nicole, but I look forward to watching this and seeing you convince me otherwise. Let us see if you are successful!
Ok, as promised, here is my post-video thoughts: This is a very good analysis. You cover her game very very well, and I appreciate you highlighting some of her more impressive feats in the game to help give her some more credibility to her win. I feel like out of the final 7, she probably deserved the win the most out of all of them. Her strategy and level of game play was the most deserving and impressive for a winning scenario and she masterfully got herself into that situation to begin with in a similar style as Dan did from BB10 (stay low for the first half or so, then dominate the end game). At the end of the day, there are three major flaws I can find with her game: 1. She is unfortunately not very good at competitions which on its own does not do her very well in most end-game scenarios. Now granted she was aligned with meat-shields that could win those comps for her, but in most situations, not being able to win at least some end-game comps can lead to you being in some hot water. 2. She is WAAY too loyal for her own good (as you pointed out), as she was actively attempting to make it to final 2 scenarios where she actively loses or has a MUCH harder time winning (going to the end with Corey, taking Paul to F2 over James because "her heart wouldn't let her cut Paul.") This is technically how she lost BB22 as she was TOO loyal to Cody who decided to cut her at the end. With these previous two traits combined, that leads me to 3. She got VERY lucky at the F3. The other times she could have been nominated (Week 4, F7 part 1) she was able to convince others to go after "bigger targets", so I don't fault her for not being nominated there. However, the stupidity that Paul demonstrated at that final eviction was actually asinine in them NOT evicting Nicole and taking James. And again, even if she HAD won that Final HoH, she would have taken Paul, who she very well could have lost against vs the easier route in James. So, to summarize, Nicole's F3 scenario was a bit too lucky for my taste as she survived being evicted by an asinine decision and avoided making said asinine decision because she is not the best at comps. At the end of the day, I think I would like Nicole more if she WAS willing to be slightly more cutthroat and actually cut the people necessary to win, but she won anyway, so can't fault her too much.
Wow, that was a long rant. To conclude, I still don't like Nicole and I doubt I ever will, but I still do feel her game was pretty well played and deserved over Paul's more messy game in BB18 (even though I personally wanted them to win), even if she did get very lucky squeezing her way through that last hole. Thanks for the video Ethan and I look forward to the next one.
Also, I think 7.5 is a GREAT ranking for her game. Very impressive and gives credit where it is due, but still acknowledging a few of the flaws and lucky situations that occurred for her to gain the win.

@@nathanghisolfo5537 I think that this is the most equal final 2 there has ever been in the show's history. With that being said, if I were in the house and were just a totally neutral party (meaning equally friendly with both) I would *probably* have voted for Paul, but that is an extremely loose statement. I feel their games were both very equal in terms of what I look for in a winner, and because I find them so equal my vote likely would have fallen for who I was closer with. Also this kinda contradicts what I just said but I do feel that Nicole played a slightly better game than Paul, however I was more all around impressed with Paul's game as a whole. I talked about how impressed I was with Nicole going from the bottom of the house at the final 8 to then flipping it around and being in everyone's good graces by the final 7, and that's pretty close to what Paul did but at the very start of the game with like 15 people left in the house, where they started off immediately on the wrong foot and voted incorrectly at both the first two evictions, but immediately turned things around and was in good graces with practically everyone like one week later, and I found that extremely impressive for someone who didn't even know Big Brother that well beforehand. So although I feel Nicole played a bit of a stronger game I was more overall impressed with Paul's manuevering throughout many points in the game (being on the block 6 times I believe but likely only going to be evicted one of those times had something not gone their way) and I potentially would have voted for them over Nicole, but it really is a coin flip and likely would be decided by whomever I was closer to.
@@nathanghisolfo5537 I FULLY agree with your first two points. Edit: Well, not fully maybe. She's no comp beast but she's certainly capable of winning comps. BBComics is her comp, she's great at the wall comp (Including the most obvious throw I've ever seen to Dani in BB22), she's usually quite good at quizzes. Even in BB22 from the final 6 on (the point where she's definitively 100 percent trying) she only ever loses a comp to Cody (an incredible comp beast), and comes in second in all but one of the one she loses. I don't think she's BAD at comps, but both BB18 and BB22 have had major comp beasts present in the end game (Victor, Paul, Cody). Plus, she won like 3 HOHs her first season, so that should count for something too.
However, I would argue the third one greatly. Nicole wasn't luckily taken to the end by paul, she flipped paul actively. Paul WAS planning on taking James to the end until Nicole started campaigning to them about how,likable James was, about how the jury would,be bitter against both of them, about how they wouldn't respect paul for taking the quote "easier beat" (nevermind that her points kind of contradict themselves. Paul didn't realize)
And at first, live feeders thought,her campaigns did nothing, until suddenly, a couple hours after a big campaign session, paul was rehearsing their F2 speeches, and suddenly started referring to Nicole sitting next to them rather than James.
While I do think Nicole definitely benefited from Paul not being game savvy at all, she also recognized that fact and capitalized on it to seize the win, which I respect a lot

I truly love these videos. I love how deep you dive into the house dynamics as to what made the winner a winner. From the strategies, game lingo, pillars of play, and straight up verbiage and way you present your words to translate to us as an audience of what is going on is astounding. Hope you can do old school and other country winners road to victory. I personally love the game play of the winners who were heavily dominant in the social aspect of the game as to me that’s what majority of the game is as it started as a social experiment that showed the dynamic between humans fighting for survival that is heavily influenced by relations to each other. I hope to see a deep dive on the social butterfly and princess of darkness Lisa from bb3 as her pivot to Danielle and Jason’s side is just superb to me and hopefully my fave Canada winner paras as her communication was dominant in how she lead conversations by mere suggestions of what she wants. A good example of that is the convo between her and Kayla arguing in the HOH. Awesome video and your deep diving work doesn’t go unnoticed.
I started watching Big Brother around 2 years ago, and Nicole was definitely a quick favorite of mine. I think her BB16 game was very fun to watch, and she was simply screwed by the twists. Her BB18 game is sooo underrated as a winner tho, and she needs more praise for her game! However, I personally wish she would've ended her BB journey here, as her BB22 game is/was quite controversial. I still do love Nicole, I think she's definitely an interesting player!

As someone who was originally shocked and pissed that Nicole won, I have since gained a lot of respect for her winning game. The edit definitely understated Nicole and overstated Paul. Paul was benefitted a lot by twists, as his best friend Victor was able to come back and take 2 additional bullets for him (3 total) an advantage no other BB player has ever had. Paul also made an atrocious move to evict James, a huge mistake on a level Nicole never came close to reaching.

I personally really like nicole, and i strongly believe she is one of BB's best. I feel like people place too much emphasis on competition wins for how good you are at BB, while yes thats an important part, it also puts a target on your back. Although many may not like it, you have to be relatively subtle with your play style, and thats what nicole did.

Say what you want but Nicole is the best female winner. People say Maggie and Jun are above her but I’ll easily disagree because Jun was only winning by against Allison and Maggie could have gotten out any time the other side of the house won HoH. Nicole has the best positioning I’ve ever seen from a female winner and some of the best positioning in all of BB. She was guaranteed final 3 from the final 7 onward but you cannot say the same for Jun or Maggie. Nicole is easily one of the best to every play this game and easily deserving of the best female winner title. She Masterminded & Dominated the endgame and that’s just amazing in my opinion. Also I feel like that the season that Maggie won could have only been done with that specific cast because the friendship was just an atrocious alliance that Eric and Maggie led. We saw Nicole use the same strategy twice and almost become the first two time winner. Jun and Maggie amazing but they aren’t better game players than Nicole. They just aren’t. Say what you want but Nicole deserves the title of the best female winner.
The thing is the other side in BB6 won HOH multiple times and Maggie outmaneuvered them.

@@devondonato4609 That is true and Maggie deserves credit for that. The other thing is that Maggie was put on the block at least 2 times throughout her season. Nicole was never in danger of going home until the final 3 and never put on the block until the final 4. That just shows how good her positioning is. Also Maggie was up against terrible players in the final 4 such as Ivette, April and Janelle who were never great strategically, While Nicole was up against REAL competition from the final 7 onwards. She’s just too great of a game player for her not to be the best female winner.

Every era has a different feel to it, so it’s all about what you’re looking for. Big Brother 3, Big Brother 10, Big Brother 14, and Big Brother 20 are all great seasons that capture the essence of the different eras the show has to offer - you can start with any of them realistically and have a good time, although 14 will spoil past seasons

Yay my all-time favorite player ! She definitely may have made some mistakes in TAR and in BB22 that get her some well-deserved flack, but she doesn’t nearly deserve all of the hate she gets. She either gets hate for for something she can’t control (I.E. her voice/accent) or she’ll get hate for not wanting to work with the girls, which is stupid. Whatever gets her to the end of the game is a good strategy in my book. If she doesn’t work well with the other girls, that’s fine. She got burned by Christine in BB16 and was probably trying to prevent that again, so she used her other strategy of hiding behind big guys until it was the right moment to strike and pull off a move. She 100% deserved her win over Paul even though I loved them that season

Something about Nicole's game that I think should be noted is how she seemingly has a similar issue as Holly from BB21 or Haleena Gill from BBCan10 in that due to some external factors of the season, Nicole naturally does not have much win equity or respect from the jury. Nicole came very close to perpetuating the long-time myth that a woman is prone to losing to a man in a final 2 for external factors. Nicole was only able to edge out a win against Paul 5-4, despite how Nicole seemingly played a much cleaner and a more intact game, as well as having more control over the game. This is made a bit more surprising when you consider how Paul didn't really stress in his jury Q & A why he had to overcome more obstacles and more hardships than Nicole in his game. If he been able to properly pin down how Nicole DID in fact have some advantages in being a returning player that season, he likely could have picked up votes from Natalie and Da'vonne, making Nicole the runner-up, instead.
I read a comment on another video compared Nicole's BB18 game to Kevin Jacobs game from BBCan10. I believe the user, "Jay Jayh", lays out Nicole's advantages in BB18 quite well.
"Nicole went into the game knowing paulie which is a huge advantage, Not to mention she was playing against newbies which was yet another huge advantage that she had that Kevin did not have. When I rank players I take into account their first game and Kevin won on his first try, Nicole did not. Kevin came into the game with a disadvantage because his archetype is usually targeted early on but yet he used that to his advantage and purposely made individual bonds with numerous people in the house. Even when he didn’t have power like you mention in the beginning of the game he used is influence to control and persuade Marty to put up Betty, and was making masterful moved even when he wasn’t in power in the beginning of the game. IMO having “control” of the game doesn’t make someone a better player..."

Going into the season, Nicole practically had an alliance preset between the 4 vets and the 2 "siblings," Tiffany and Paulie, giving them a straightforward 6 person front that they can use to combat any newbies that try to take an "anti-vet" approach. On top of that, Paulie was one of the toughest competitors among the newbies that season. That's the main reason why I feel like parts of Nicole's game just fell into her lap, and why I find it harder for me to properly respect her win. I still think Nicole is an A-tier player at worst, but there is a reason why some people online felt that BB18 was tailored for Nicole and James, specifically.
This video is awesome, I've been bringing all of your videos the last couple days and this video made me respect Nicole a lot despite not having watched the season. As I'm new to this community I'd love to see someone talk more in depth about how Nicole played in BB22 because supposedly she was really controversial yet I don't understand why other than that "she didn't own up to being a villain". Maybe I need to watch BB22 for myself to find out but seeing an analysis from a fan would also be really awesome

What Nicole did to Momma Day was dirty.
Da made the right choice she said it perfectly "for us vets it was about redemption" she learned to use men as shields and always be perceived as a small threat which is what makes her a great player.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but she has one of my favorite games.
As bb18 is my favorite modern season (and one of the first seasons I watched live - although as a casual) I was rooting for Paul at the end and was disappointed when they lost to her. But after 6 years I have realized that she deservedly won the game against them and was able to protect herself so well throughout the entire season.
The person I was actually rooting for the most was Michelle (I know, surprising). But I feel like she had some good strategy and placement throughout the show and was screwed over in the end by the co-HOH care package that she was gifted AND by Nicole's maneuvering in the week 10 HOH comp in securing the win from James in return for his and Natalie's safety (James never mentioned anything about Michelle) leaving her out in the cold left to be evicted in the end.
I also think that Nicole breaking the tie in favor of Paul at the end of week 10 resulting in Michelle's eviction was one of Nicole's best moves. At the time, it didn't seem like the "more strategic" option for her (even though that's what she said), but afterwards I realized that it was one of her best moves because it places Nicole and Corey in the middle of the two other groups (Paul/Victor and Natalie/James). If Paul had been evicted at week 10, I feel like Victor would've jumped ship and joined the Natalie/James/Michelle side and Nicole and Corey would've most likely been picked off. Leaving the win to probably Victor (because of his likability by the jury) or Natalie (for the same reason).
I would love to see more videos of this season as I feel like it is very underrated and that there is a lot of strategy and evolving alliances in this season that just made it so enjoyable to watch live

Nicole is an interesting figure in the BB community but I definitely get it. I mean, she was truly loyal to only a few people, she did a fair bit of backstabbing to win, and she definitely came off as a lot less likable compared to her run on BB16. In a lot of ways, I shouldn't like her compared to other women on BB who could pull off big moves like this while still appearing likable. However, that's weirdly why I like her, I respect everything she did to get the win at the end of the day. Nicole never floated her way to the end, she made calculated moves that put her in strong positions, and, much like Ika in BB Canada 5, she was able to survive even in some dire situations through her social game. That being said, I will also argue that as iconic as Ika is, I think she had her moments of going too far in belittling her fellow competitors, which was a pitfall I felt Nicole avoided very well.
But one other context that I feel often gets overlooked in regard to her BB18 run is what happened to her in BB16. The thing is, while that season was loaded with some really strong players, the way Nicole was treated was absolutely inexcusable. Nicole tried to play an honest game, fought her way back in, and she got backstabbed by Christine and belittled by Caleb when she returned, despite proving herself more than some of the other players (really makes me think Caleb was more of a tool than he would have you believe in retrospect but I digress). Bottom line, Nicole came to BB18 to play and she decided on Day 1 that she was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She decided that her previous gameplan failed and that she had to do things differently the second time around. For me, I respect that immensely. I actually think Nicole is a very sweet caring person if you follow her on social media, but I think she went into game mode for this season and that was why she seemed like an emotionless and unlikable robot. As Davonne once said that season, it was about redemption for her and she got it! Even with all the betrayals she pulled, she still secured votes from several people she sent home, including Davonne, who for as much as she wanted to see Nicole lose, still respected her game and was prepared to vote for her as a result. You can be annoyed with Nicole all you want, heck I don't blame Natalie and Davonne for their frustrations with how she played the game, and I don't blame Bridgette and Michelle for voting for Paul over Nicole even if their reasons felt kinda petty despite Paul definitely being just as deserving that season! But I think Nicole deserves respect for the same reason we praise many of the male winners who were very manipulative and deceitful in their seasons, she played the game and she played it well. She may not want to admit she is a true BB villain, but to me it doesn't matter, she played one hell of a game and I am happy she won in the end!
Side note: looking forward to the inevitable reactions from her and Victor's kids when they find out their Mom stabbed their Dad in the back and that their Dad did not vote for their Mom to win LMAO
I liked Nicole the best in her original season, then her winning season, then what you could call an “all star” season
Though she played an amazing game, I'm still always gonna say Paul should have won this season

These are definitely my favorite types of videos. My vote for next up is definitely Andy herren. I know he's not a fan favorite but people seem to either not understand his amazing gameplay or don't wanna give him credit cause they dislike him personally. Either way I'd love to see his game fully broken down. Especially since a rewatch of that season is less than enjoyable.

Don't know if anyone pointed this out but from my memory, I'm pretty sure that Natalie/Michelle's alliance would have had the numbers to flip the vote on Zakiyah even without James' care package since they had got Paul/Vic on their side at that point. The only reason James blocked Paul's vote was so that his involvement in the plan could remain a secret (even tho I'm pretty sure Nicole and co. worked it out anyway but w/e).
