The Silent Killer: How Andy Herren Won Big Brother 15

  • Andy Herren, the winner of BB15, is the topic of today. Andy is potentially the most misrepresented winner in all of Big Brother, with many fans claiming that his game was weak and rat-like. Whether it be because of the negative cloud that envelopes the season, or because Andy was massively under-edited in the episodes, his game is oftentimes written off as a footnote in Big Brother's history. But, I disagree. I think that Andy played one of the most devious and impressive games in all of Big Brother, and he did it while hiding behind innocent looking shirts with hearts and smiles on them. Andy is THE wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to Big Brother, and I'm gonna show you why. This is the story of how Andy Herren won Big Brother 15.
HUGE thank you to Andy for sitting down with me and walking me through different areas of his game in order to give me a clearer understanding of what happened: • Talking BB15 with Andy...

Hello! So sorry about this, but I got a copyright claim on some of the footage used for the Final 11 Eviction, the Final 10 Double Eviction, and the first half of the Final 9. In order to keep the video accessible I had to remove the content from the video (as well as one part of the introduction) which will make that section a little choppy. However, here's a brief overview of what happened in the content I had to cut:
    Final 11 Eviction:
    - Andy stopped the flip onto Amanda, and Candice was evicted unanimously
    Final 10 Double Eviction:
    - Aaryn won the Final 10 HOH on accident
    - Helen put in motion a charge to get Aaryn to use the Veto on Jessie and backdoor Judd
    - The majority of the house got on board with this plan, and Aaryn went through with it (but everyone cried because they still really liked Judd)
    - This was really good for Andy's game, because his biggest threat to win was now gone
    Final 9:
    - Andy really wanted to win this HOH because he could target Jessie and have a really easy week
    - Andy successfully won the HOH
    - In the diary room, every single player talked about how safe they felt with Andy winning the HOH, showcasing just how phenomenal of a game he was playing
    - Helen tried to get Andy to put up Amanda and McCrae, but Andy didn't want to
    - This alerted Andy that Helen was fully capable of backstabbing close allies, and he made the decision that he would be team Amanda over team Helen when it came down to it
I have attached an edited version removing the copyrighted materials here: ruclips.net/video/MW0GVd74Eew/видео.html

At the point where Andy’s talking about how he found out that their alliance was fake because the production didn’t talk to him about it. I think that’s a huge point for him because not a lot of people would notice that they *weren’t* being asked about something! To infer that something was wrong and use that to pilot Judd off the group for them was genius

i'm glad you said something about the racism and how he and others stood by and watched it happen rather than speak up. this is the main reason why i'll only consume bb content through you; it's a safe space for bipoc viewers so that we don't have to go through our lived experiences on a screen too. amanda was one of the most racist competitors and all of the white players were complicit in allowing bipoc competitors to get traumatized week after week. this game is stressful enough but racially marginalized groups have to deal with microaggressions and explicit racist bs on top of it? not okay. the producers were also 100% wrong for not intervening and it goes to show that the crew is in desperate need of diversity.

@@dylanmiller1790 Yeah Andy didn't really sit well with some of the past HGs, most notably ED, Ragan, Derrick (not exactly friends even though they did sorta make amends), Nick Uhas, Jeff, Nicole F (Unfortunately one of the many victims of her unfollowing spree after BB22), and Jody (especially since Cody made a bunch of homophobic tweets directed towards Andy and Jessica stood behind his comments).
That being said though, he does sit well with some notable alumni, which I am happy for him to do so. He seems to be good friends with Jag, the most recent winner at the time of this comment, as seen in his most recent Instagram post.
Some notable alumni from other seasons he seems to have a good relation with include: Britney, Ian, Natalie, Corey, Josh, Haleigh, Kat, Nicole A, Xavier, Hannah, Derek F, Taylor, and the list goes on.

That and continuously telling Raven to unalive herself, its just horrible. I don't like Raven as a houseguest but it really doesn't give me any authority to tell someone I dislike to kys.

And he successfully flipped on both of them without suffering the negative repercussions? Genius. The entirety of the Final 7/6 is absolutely some of the best Big Brother play ever from Andy. Even now, to this day, I have such a strong hatred for BB15 as it was the season that made my father stop watching the show and it was one of the few things we bonded over. Yeah, Andy may have played a good game, but I just cannot really appreciate it because he was a bystander to the racism and even made some unfavorable comments himself on live feeds. This season was such a dumpster fire of racism and bullying and bigotry. It really puts a sour taste on Andy’s win because while I agree with you about how production should have stepped in about everything, they didn’t and because they didn’t it does fall on the players. It really looks like the prize money is worth more than morals in this season. Andy did work with racists and was actively friends with them, Arryn and Gina Marie being the biggest offenders. And while I’m sure it’s not his intention it does look like he said left his original alliance with the victimized parties to work with the racists because they were more successful. Additionally he didn’t say anything about their behaviour, when even Amanda tried to say something. I haven’t watched a season of BB since this one because it put such a bad taste in my mouth about production but I’m glad you’re covering Andy here, this paints him in a lot better of a light than the show did. I’m sure he isn’t like how the show and his actions portray him so it’s nice to see the season with more of a focus on strategy than just the hatefulness of the contestants.

It appeared that she lead a group including Amanda, Spencer, Gina Marie, the long haired dopey guy, and possibly others to racially denigrate people (Candice, Howard, and Helen in particular) and Andy sat and laughed. And it is un-shocking that Candice and Howard left early. I understand that Andy couldn't create a fight for "the game", but he needed to be asked about it when you interviewed him; particularly when he equivocated manipulation in the game with people calling Asians "chong-face".

He’s really a Top 5 player imo, hell if Cody didn’t make a second appearance and won All-Stars 2 easily, I would have him at 4th. Andy & Jun played the best floater games in history too. He really has the best winning game during that dark time from BB11-BB15. That look he & Helen gave each other on the stage was like yeah we taking over this game.
I can’t wait for the Dan video, he’s my Big Brother 🐐.
