Hey guys who received a letter this was 3 nearly 4 years ago, i got my letter and did research aswell extending further than this video and this coverage watched several videos (actual students who joined and succeeded in it). Be careful, they are now putting the name of the high-school you attend on the envelope making it look as if your high-school helped them to select you
yeah I just asked my councelor about it , seems kinda sus thought I have a membership code that enters me to a website that seems legicts and they got students that have earned things from them talking about their experience.

I got an invitation in the mail a couple days ago. I was considering it because it sounded like an opportunity. After texting some friends, I found out that some people had been invited with a total disregard to them failing classes not to mention that they had a $75 fee just to get some scholarships. Well my son got one too and I paid $75 and we will be going to their UCLA event. I want my son to meet students who also have like minded parents----who want their child to go out there and see what's up for grabs and what isn't.
I got invited to it and the $75 fee tipped me off. I previously joined an organization that promised the same thing but was free and it was a waste of time honestly, I asked the top people of that "how do I apply to scholarships", they told me to just asked my counselor. The whole thing was basically an add of colleges. I don't like these sort of organizations, good thing I didn't pay the dumb $75 fee.
I got invited to it as well a day ago and the samething with a 75 dollar fee this is horrible honestly idk how companies that do this are allowed to stay in business they are scamming us its just horribly i'm also glad i did resarch because if not i would have joined the thing is that it looked so real had the school name and eveything so that's what caught me off guard.
They bumped it up to 90 dollars this year. I just got their letter in the mail and it’s summer so I can’t contact anyone at my school to confirm that they sent it but I assume that it must be fake. My parents are really convinced though so I’m not sure how to tell them it’s just a scam to take their money
Sameee. I’m an average student that works with the situations that handed at me during school. Like for example, completing work, asking for help when needed, working on assignments outside of class, talking to my teachers, and studying occasionally. And I’m doing well. But this letter made me question what efforts I’d be putting in and where, the now, 75$ fee would go.
Anyone confusing NHS and NSHSS should be blaming themselves. It's really obvious the two aren't the same and there is nothing in the NSHSS materials that could even be confused with NHS. Plenty of legitimate organizations in every field require registration fees; California Scholarship Federation is one for students that does, but there are countless professional orgs that do the same thing (Rotary, doctors associations, teachers associations, etc). If a cost to join is made clear and it's made obvious what you're joining, how is it a "scam"? Plus, they offer full fee waivers for those unable to pay. It's irresponsible to call something a scam just because people aren't educating themselves.
Having an NSHSS title means nothing when added to a college resume and with desperate parents and students, its not uncommon to confuse the two since they are close in name. Saying that this isnt a scam is embarrassing because its the definition of one. Earning a title that means absolutely nothing? Offering the waivers isnt even true so please actually pay attention to the basics before writing bs.
I just got a letter today. The thing is, I have great grade and in lot of programs. But when I saw this, I did cry with joy, but I had to do my research. I have never heard of this organization. I'm happy that I found this out before paying anything. When I was looking for the background of nshss, on the website they talks about how these accusations are false, but still. I'm just happy that me and my mom are smart enough to do background check. Edit: Me and my mom still don't know what to do. I have look deeper and have seen some videos on people who went into Nshss and I found a girl. She talk about all the things she did in the program. And I knew that what she was saying wasn't stage because she had to correct what she was saying. There was zero edits, base off the fact of all the pausing and pronouncing mistakes. Anyway, she talk about how it help her and her journey. She never made a single comment about acknowledging the fact that people were talking about scams or anything in that nature. It was all just about what great things she had achieved being in the program. So, I don't fully know if it a scam or not. In the end, whatever decision I make won't affect me or my family negatively. You need to hear it from both sides. You can't just believe everything that's on the news and you can't believe everything a website tells you. So that why I pacifically looked for students instead of so called "parents" because they can always be fake. Either way I try to get all perspectives, because you can't never be too careful. I'm writing this comment for other people(like me) who watch this video that wants to learn more. And explaining my situation. In the end Just look deeper into things. Sometimes things are not what you think they are.
Good news. Me and my mom has chose not to do it, We unsubscribed and we're no longer getting notifications. Thank to everyone to gave me comments. And Thank to my mom for making smart calls.
Bruh I already paid for it and got everything in the mail and was immediately sketched tbh but my parents didnt end up paying for it a family member did and honestly it looks good when applying for jobs (sad ik) and they wont look into it enough to see what it truly is.
I just got a letter from this organization and it is now a $90 fee.. This is so frustrating because my daughter has been on academic honor roll with a 3.9-4.0 GPA and in AP classes since she was in middle school, she will be a Junior fall 2024. At 1st I thought it was National Honor Society, then realized it was NSHSS, which is NOT the same. Furthermore you shouldn't have to pay a fee to be in the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. I'm glad I came across this, but not happy that I have to tell my daughter that this isn't something applauding her academic achievements, and rather a scam. How is this even legal?
Trust! I also thought the same thing, but NSHSS has connected me w amazing people and less competitive scholarships that you can apply for. They also have an ambassador program w student-led nonprofit organizations, ranging from military families to mental health. I would go with your gut though. The fee helps fund the scholarships and resources..

bruh even in yelp it says its a scam lmao they rly thought we wouldn’t do our research during this quaratine
Bruh I’m kinda spooked they send me a letter, and stickers to my house like where did they get my info from
something this easy to get always has huge suspicion
I got an invitation yesterday and I was literally about to join and pay like right now cuz I thought it was legit until my friend said it was a scam so I was researching and looking at articles and stuff and I'm glad I stumbled upon this video I can't believe I was a clown T_T
Well my son got one too and I paid $75 and we will be going to their UCLA event. I want my son to meet students who also have like minded parents----who want their child to go out there and see what's up for grabs and what isn't.
YES! This is a SCAM!!!! NHS is the real one. I hope you like the free bumper sticker.
@@mercedespowers3264Yeah bro u got that shii too. My parents were telling me to join. I just joined a week ago
@@mercedespowers3264I joined it, but it’s aight cuz I’m going to join nhs
Just got one. My gut said dont trust it lol.
Now we know. We got screwed by NSHSS since our son started High School last year.
Thank you for the information. I've received the exact same letter.
Guys the letter is so convincing. It said that my ART TEACHER by name selected me for it. Wow
@@ameliabeen5606so I payed for nshss. I already joined, what should I do next
@@hopehope5406you already paid??? you just wasted money lol
@@mousonline yeah I paid bro. I got the refund tho
@@hopehope5406 ok good im glad u got that refund man
I tried to convince my parents not to send them money but they wouldn’t listen. Oh well😑
how are people actually falling for this?
Its mostly parents who want scholorships for there kids, and are tricked into thinking thier child has been accepted into NHS
I just got mailed
I just got a letter today.
The thing is, I have great grade and in lot of programs. But when I saw this, I did cry with joy, but I had to do my research.
I have never heard of this organization. I'm happy that I found this out before paying anything.
When I was looking for the background of nshss, on the website they talks about how these accusations are false, but still.
I'm just happy that me and my mom are smart enough to do background check.
Edit:
Me and my mom still don't know what to do.
It’s a scam. They just get your info from college board and send these invitations to everyone
@@awmelee2908 Yeah fuckign asshats. Got me excited for one second
yeah i just got mine yesterday as well. im extremely disappointed. i really thought i was doin sumn LMAOO
Good news. Me and my mom has chose not to do it, We unsubscribed and we're no longer getting notifications. Thank to everyone to gave me comments. And Thank to my mom for making smart calls.
@@infinitetimer27how do you unsubscribe if you already payed
r/APStudents brought me here
How could the founder of this be related to the creator of the nobel prize
They put so much effort into scamming people because my address was hand written
Bruh I already paid for it and got everything in the mail and was immediately sketched tbh but my parents didnt end up paying for it a family member did and honestly it looks good when applying for jobs (sad ik) and they wont look into it enough to see what it truly is.
yea but like if they do then theyll see how stupid you are
Yeah I payed for it too. So I’m not eveb gonna touch that ww’s it’s sad give them more money
I was able to call them and get a refund thank god...
Something told me that it was a scam
Thank you for posting this I almost got trapped
Literally got my letter today:)
my mom said they are looking for money
Bruh I almost pay for this
I just got a letter from this organization and it is now a $90 fee..
I paid but there isn’t a chapter in Oklahoma so I can’t go to events and stuff but I mean OU had no problem with it 🤷🏻♀️
not really much of an honour if you have to pay for it
Thank you
How do you get a refund?
Just got it today, chastized my mom for being tricked so easily smh
Trust! I also thought the same thing, but NSHSS has connected me w amazing people and less competitive scholarships that you can apply for. They also have an ambassador program w student-led nonprofit organizations, ranging from military families to mental health. I would go with your gut though. The fee helps fund the scholarships and resources..
i totally fell for it and payed the 75 dollar ☹️😭
me too😭 i feel so scammed and kinda wanna cry but imma get a refund
a v a • you outta luck with a refund.
Fernando Nguyen i got refunded
Becca Paxton Hey, do I just call them and ask??
Emelie you can email and call them! i called them the same day!
Yo, around June, I got a letter from them, and I keep forgetting to tell my parents about i. But around the deadline, I had lost interest in joining, and thank god I made that decision.
The membership fee is now $75. Glad I saw this vid
Got a letter.

Oof, now I know what to tell my mom since I didn't want to pay

I just got the letter and I'm glad I did research
It's actually an amazing organization, like everything in life, you have to use it to the best of your ability and you will reap the benefits! Because I definitely have!
@@abnerlinemacenat2334 I'm gonna have to decline because it doesn't seem legit and I am apart of an organization called SCOPE and I think I'll continue with something I can truly trust
Vincent Buchanan You can do whatever you want. It’s your money, your choice! I just wanted you to see if from a perspective of someone who is actually in the organization, who has made amazing connections and has done so much already w them. it’s sad because they are starting up and it’s hard when there’s videos out here calling them a scam. i was definitely in your shoes until i heard a testimony from someone who actually is involved. dude got a full scholarship to john hopkins and literally got to travel the world. another nshss alumni is now the first black woman student body president at MIT. she’s making history and you can look this all up. this organization has helped carved the way for many. that’s the part they won’t tell you. but onward with your choice, i wish you all the best even if it isn’t w nshss.
@@abnerlinemacenat2334 Thank you so much! I've accomplished more than they can offer me but I'll still look into it
