Hey Anelisa , great video... so helpful and informative . Thank you for doing this.
In case this might help someone , NBTs were exempted for 2021 academic year but you have a compulsory course called Law that counts which is basically maths for humanities . The other option is to write a QL TEST which is the Maths section in NBTs on campus and if get 66% and above you don't have to take the course . But you'd need to register for another course in Humanities to make up for those 18 credit points you've been exempted from( not sure if it'll apply in 2022 though) . Hope that makes sense and helps someone .

I did LLB straight from high school. I really found first year very doable. I did really well in first year. The workload was gang but I pushed through. Second year was where things got tricky😭but it really helped me understand the workload I have to handle going forward . Currently doing the last semester of 3rd year😭
I’m going to be a final year student soon okes😭.
Maths came in the form of accounting in most cases. Very challenging but I loved some maths as everything is just theory.

Hi there, I’m not entirely sure so don’t take my word for it but I think it is your cumulative aggregate they look at, and not just your final year. You can email the law faculty, and they will redirect you to whoever you can speak to. Alternatively, most of this information is in the handbook 🤍

If you dont get in for law for the first year so you want to study something else and switch to law in 2nd year, do you have to do a specific course in order to be allowed to switch to law? And will applying for a course in humanities be more helpful?🥺
No you don’t have to do a specific course in order to switch, you’d just either have to do a degree in Humanities or a degree in Commerce because those are the only combined streams with Law. Then you’d go ahead and apply in first year to combine with Law in second year. Theeen you’d have to reach the requirements which I mentioned in the video :) I can’t say whether applying for a course in Humanities would be helpful because it depends on what you’re good at - but personally, I found that doing a Humanities degree before my Law degree was very helpful because I strengthened a lot of critical thinking & writing skills that you obviously need in Law 🤍

Hi there, please check out the UCT Law handbook which is accessible online, I’m really not sure about the B Com Law combined stream & don’t want to give you incorrect information 🤍

I don’t know if UCT offers the LLB degree program online - I highly doubt it though. You can email them to be sure :)

I’m really not sure unfortunately... personally, I did mine in Matric though, as they’re only valid for a certain number of years.
Hey Anelisa , I am currently studying Diploma in Law know as paralegal studies. And I'd like to transfer to UCT in 2023 for the grad LLB. Can you explain the 3 years + 3 years party for me
Also as a transfer student wanting to do the grad LLB, do they use my varsity transcript or do I still need to meet the requirements via Matric certificate. Cause when I use my matric I don't qualify
So I applied twice got rejected😭😭😂😂then I decided to do N4 and N5 in financial management and I applied for bcom yhooo soyiki I don't even know if they'll take my nated subjects in consideration

Are there any specific subjects required for LLB ?
For the straight LLB, no...as long as you reach or surpass the admission requirements :)

@@Zen_CK that information is literally at 5:44 of the video 😅 assuming your marks are spread out evenly, to reach that FPS you would have to get higher than 77% for each subject if you do 6 subjects excluding LO.
what was your AQL nbt score?
I did my NBTs 6 years ago so I don’t remember the exact scores, but it was around 80 for the AL portion, and below 60 for the QL portion :)
What courses did you do if I may ask?
I did a bunch of different courses each year excluding my majors: Psychology, Criminal Law, Social Work and Sociology off the top of my head 🤍
