    Hi Anelisa
    In terms of res life, did you have friends or know people who stayed at CampusKey? If so, have you heard if its good or not, and of you could choose, would you still stay in UCT res?

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  4 года назад +4

      From what I’ve heard from people that lived there, Campus Key (I’m talking about the two that are near UCT) isn’t really a conducive work environment. There’s always noise, parties & mess. So if that’s your vibe then sure, but if you’re a more reserved person who likes peace & quiet, and wants to do their work in their room etc, it’s a huge no.
      UCT res is a good place to start in first year if you don’t mind sharing, because you share everything. I personally would never want to live in res now, but that’s not because anything is wrong with res, I just hate some of the rules (like no visitors after 12, you have to leave during Vac & pack up the whole room), I just can’t do all that anymore. But most people really don’t mind res, even at postgrad level so there’s nothing inherently wrong with res, it’s just about who you are as a person really. That also goes for the Campus Key question, because if you like partying, you will probably like it, you know?

    hey Anelisa, so im considering to apply to UCT but im a bit anxious about my safety because i hear alot of people being murdered or raped you know...so was wondering how do u keep safe etc thank you xo

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  4 года назад +16

      I can’t really tell you how to keep safe because as a woman in this country, few spaces are truly safe for us. But what I can tell you is to never go anywhere by yourself, whether it’s grocery shopping or just a normal outing to the mall to quickly get something, don’t go by yourself.
      Always share your location, avoid walking in quiet areas entirely, many robberies happen along those quiet areas between Middle Campus & Lower Campus. On the back of your student card there are numbers for Campus security. If you don’t feel safe you can ask them to walk with you around campus vicinity and they will. Even when studying on campus at night, get a friend or two to come with you, campus can be quite dangerous at night because UCT is open, so there’s no fences or anything and anyone could be out there.
      If you’re at a Jammie stop by yourself and the Jammie isn’t coming, especially stops like Claremont or South Stop where it’s really dark and there aren’t many people in the evening, Uber or ask CPS to wait with you.
      I hope this was somewhat helpful. And you should apply to UCT sis, unfortunately every university isn’t fully safe, so might as well pick the one you want :)

      But obviously i need to write finals
      And since i cant apply for early acceptance,i dont really know where my life is headed.

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  4 года назад

      Hey girl,
      I'm not entirely sure, won't lie to you. But from my knowledge, you can only change courses/faculties at the beginning of each academic year. So if you're wanting to switch courses yet you haven't applied for that said course already, it might be a bit problematic because application lines are closed, so you'd have to reapply next year along with everyone else again - you get me? They don't just let you swap just because you're accepted. If you don't get me, I'm sure UCT admissions will give you more clarity: admissions@uct.ac.za :)
      PS: the process of changing courses is dependent on the faculty. Some give you a hard time, some not at all. So just ask the respective faculty to be 100% sure.

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  4 года назад

      Nash Nyabe you can transfer to Law, there are three different ways to do that. Option 1) is through a 4 year LLB
      2) is a 3 year LLB if you’ve already graduated thus have a degree already
      3) is through the Humanities faculty where you have to do both your Humanities degree and LLB in 5 years combined (3 years for the degree humanities degree, 2 years for the LLB).
      For this option you start doing the Law in the second year of your Humanities degree.
      Since I’m graduating this year, I took option 2. But ultimately you can transfer to the Law faculty through any of those options, you do not have to do Law and another degree at the same time unless you take the third option through Humanities. Hope this helps :)

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  3 года назад

      A tut is a tutorial. They are classes between you, a tutor & a few other students where you discuss the material happening in the lectures in simpler ways to make the course a little easier.
      Some tutorials are mandatory to attend, some are optional. Some courses don’t even have tutorials, but most of them do. Some happen twice a week, some only once. You choose a group yourself and that will be your group until the semester ends.

    Or is it more information
    Do you guys get textbooks?

    • @AnelisaZungu
      @AnelisaZungu  3 года назад +1

      Depends entirely on the faculty and lecturer because lecturers compile their slides differently.
      Some slides are packed with information to the point where you don’t need a textbook, some have little detail so you’d need a textbook to enrich the information on the slide. But most times your lecturer will tell you which textbooks you need before the course starts so that you can go buy that exact textbook.
      I’m not sure about other faculties but in Humanities, you will rarely need a textbook. Only few departments require textbooks, like Psychology for instance.
