I have one with the same problems you described for the first Unior tool.

Have you looked into Abbey Tools HAG, Park Tool DAG 3?
I have Park Tool DAG2 cmhPrintedDesigns FlipDAG-2, it's a 3d printed rotating arm accouchement for the rod.

      Thanks. :)
That Park Tool DAG 3 looks a lot like what I thought would be a better design. Does have some plastics, but still.
It is expensive - and I can't see it locally (would need to order one from Germany).
So it will wait (the old Unior tool gets the job done, if not very quickly and practically), there are other tool priorities (though I'm considering to put my money towards buying a camera first, because the phone is quite tricky to shoot videos with). We'll see.
Abbey Tools look like they are made for the rich (the prices). LOL :)
      Edit:
The old Unior tool looks a lot like the Pakr Tool DAG2. It gets the job done.

@@BikeGremlinUS I checked the prices, Abbey sure is still pricey. Some years ago and closest was bikecomponents in Germany, and was pricy. DAg3 was not in stock anywhere then. So I opted for a cheaper upgrade instead. But I've not found such upgrade for Unior.
I agree that tool makers should listen to real mechanics and let them figure it out. Park Tool also made flawed tools.
But misstakes happen, improvements can happen.
But not going exclusively with one brand is the way to go, get the best tool for you and the job.

      Exactly.
The point is not about never making mistakes - the point is realising and fixing them.
When it comes to brands, a lot of my tools are made by general tool manufacturers (not bike-specific brands, nor even one manufacturer in particular). However, Unior is one of the very few brands that let me buy at the normal price (the price that Americans and Germans can buy at), and get any spare parts and similar. Great local support.
Park Tool (to name one) is the exact opposite - it's not available locally at all.
Similarly, Wera, for example (I love some of their tools and use them daily), offer next to none support for Serbia, even if you can find an odd tool here and there (scarce offers).

    Awful indeed.
Unior hangouts also have problems. I ordered one for a Wilier Cento1 SR but when the 3 screws are tightened it doesn't fit the frame base because there's a 2 mm gap.
As a result it provokes a misalignment of both the wheel and sprockets and it's impossible to have the RD working correctly.

    Shockingly bad tool-making!
