Hey brother, glad you & your listeners like the song! I like your show - and by the way, if you'd ever like to do an interview, I'd be more than happy to do it. God bless, Grayson Hugh
I had forgotten about this song. I was so happy to hear this again (thanks to the Professor of Rock Adam Reader). MAN! Vocally you sound like Sam Cooke and that is some of the highest praise from myself (or anyone who knows what a good Soul singer sounds like). Thanks for a sincerely beautiful trip down memory lane. I doubt I will ever forget about this song again.
You‘re absolutely right! That was the first thing that came to my mind, too! My favourite song of Grayson Hugh is „I can‘t untie myself from you“ though.
I have been blessed to have known of Grayson Hugh's music since he first started recording. There are few if any artists that I never tire of. Grayson is one. His music is timeless !!!! He truly is in a category thats so far beyond. His tunes, story lines, and soulful vocals are so real its touches your soul. Honestly, you will thank me if you picked up all of his recordings.like I have !!!!!!!!!! When I'm on the road traveling Graysons CD's are magic to my ears, LOVE IT ! Funny but it helps me drive all day.!
I feel so lucky to now him and to be learning to play piano with him a a teacher and for him to show me how it is to bea a musition and he is so nice to me and is super fun to hang out with
His voice was like a reincarnation of Sam Cooke's. I bought his cassette in the late 80's at that time because of just this song. He had some great songs on it and his voice was so soulful and mesmerizing, but I never heard another album from him again.
Judging by the comments, this song been slept on by a lot of people globally, even people who were around at the time it came out. I listened to it a lot because it was always on the radio where I lived at back then, but I only came to realise how truly good it was much later in life. Always will be a timeless classic to me.
I remember working in a music store when this hit. I was in college at the time, but an oooooold soul. Someone popped this song in while I was working in the back. I came RUNNING to the front, asking when Sam had released this and who remixed it because it totally was new to me !!! 🤣
in 1989 when i heard the first time always tought its a black man same voice as sam cooke...what a surprise..one of my favourite song.nice job grayson..God bless u
Also reminds me of the late great Sam Cooke, back years ago at work in the break room there was a juke box, and that song played day and night, great voice and song.
First thing you think when hearing this song,"Sam Cooke" 😊 Never heard this gem of a song 😱 I love it! 💚 Don't know how it eluded me 🤔 love your reaction brother Ty 😂🤣 wonderful comments as well .The boy you're thinking of is the late Corey Haim 🙏
Love Grayson Hugh's music, especially Talk It Over. Grayson did a cover for a famous movie, Thelma and Louise, might of been where you heard his voice. Now try this song.......it's by The Notting Hillbillies.....Your Own Sweet Way. The sounds they make are amazing, these guys are true musicians and have been in other bands. I won't spoil who's in it for you, just give this some a listen and you'll find a few other gems by these guys.
Noting Hillbillies. Man, that’s reaching way back into the cobwebs. Right there with the Traveling Wilburys. I love when big names collaborated like this. I need to dust off my CD and relive. Very nice. Cheers !
Grayson had one of the most soulful voices in the 80's and I was so anxious for his next album. But he just disappeared. No real music came from him and it is a loss.
HI Andrew! Glad you like my voice - No, I didn't disappear! Check out my albums and songs in films that were released after this RCA album "Blind To Reason"!
@@graysonhugh1 Grayson, this song is imprinted with a memory as are many of the songs that I consider truly great. It's so cool how when a song strikes a chord within your soul that you'll always go back to where you were when you first heard it. I was 16 and went into a bar called Whiskey River Tavern with a friend who needed to cash his paycheck. While waiting, a girl played Talk It Over on the jukebox. I remember watching her dance. I was as mesmerized by the song as I was her. Anytime I hear this the scene reappears in my mind. Music is the closest we'll ever get to a time machine. Thanks
@@graysonhugh1Mr. Hugh, I have an imprinted memory associated with your song as well. I live in the Caribbean and my dad used to play it a lot when I was a kid. I remember him driving the family out to the beach one rainy day and I saw the tires of the other cars making waves in water that collected in the parking lot and my young mind thought it looked like a mini beach right next to the real one. Your song was playing on the radio at the time and while I didn't understand much of what you were singing about, "Love walks out that door" resonated with me. I very recently looked up the song last week and was delighted to find that a music video was done for it and I really love how creative the concept was. Top notch song! And yes, as a kid, I did think you were black and a lot older when you made it lol. I was shocked at how young you looked in the video lol
He actually had 2 more Billboard hits on the Adult Contemporary Chart, Bring. It All Back in 1989 and How About Us in 1990 which was a duet with Betty Wright. In addition he wrote some songs on the sound tracks for the movies Thelma &
I was 19 when this came out. I wore the cassette out too. Driving Main Street with my sister, cousin & best friend at that time. Those were the days. No responsiblities.
Yeah he sounds a lot like the 50s/early 60s singer Sam Cooke. Check out his song Wonderful world & you'll see the two singers sound very similar. Anyway Talk it over was a one hit wonder in both America & Australia in 89, reaching the top 20 on both sides
I'm 61 now.. I remember when that song was released... no one gave a damn about race, just love.. Strange how we are racist now... after having mixed race kids.. still.. enjoy the music... Eurogliders.. We will together...
3:54 your eyes - I missed this when it came out after I graduated high school. Not sure how, because those vocals would have stuck with me - chills!! It’s cool you can experience older music and appreciate it for what it is - timeless. 5:15 I was thinking the same thing!
Yeah I am old MRM..lol. Thats a hard cold truth..lol..but he has a few other songs that was a hit. If you ever saw Thelma and Louise, one of his songs was in that movie 'i can't untie you from me'. He also had a hit in early 90s with Bringin it all Back. That song i swear was in a movie too but life of me, cant remember. I also kinda giggle at end of the video too..like yeah we know whats going on there...lmbo
You're a nice and entertaining reviewer and this is a very good singer and song I used to play on the radio. I never before heard Peter Gabriel's last name pronounced like Juan Gabriel's last name is pronounced. I've always heard the "a" in Peter Gabriel's last name pronounced "ay." Peace and stay safe.
He is part of that ''blue eye soul'' liked the song back then myself..by 89 i was living in Germany and had 2 boys. he did the a song with betty wright ''how about us''.it was a remake but I love it!!.lol great name my grandson is Greyson
The first time I heard it was watching the video as a preview to one of the Lethal Weapon movies. I bought the album and over the years introduced it to girls I dated. He must have won awards because it was a panty dropper.
This was his only major hit, but he hit the Top40 a couple of other times. "Bring It on Back" was the other one folks might remember. He also duetted with Betty Wright on a cover of "How 'Bout Us" by Champagne. I love "Talk It Over" and only rediscovered it recently. I was 11 when it came out, and even though I remember it, it was clearly an "adult" song, and it didn't appeal to my preteen sensibilities as much as my middle-age sensibilities as a 43-yr-old. I don't think I ever saw the video back, or I'd probably have paid more attention to the song.
Grayson Hugh's three top 40 U.S. hits were on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart; only "Talk It Over" was a pop top 40 hit. Also the "How 'Bout Us" group spelled their name Champaign. Stay safe.
Yeah it is me, the one name you couldn't pronounce first but I did not expect you to, but then you actually COULD pronounce it. woah! I would love of you to react to Tori Amos and this song ruclips.net/video/KWmETxWM0h0/видео.html

Awesome!! ❤
I have your song stuck in my head ... latterly! Who are the two backup singers in your video and are they in other videos ~ yours or others?
Still jamming your song in 2021. Old skool classic.
Legend 💯💪🏽

Love this song since i first heard it back in the day. He haa a Sam Cooke sounding voice and that is a recipe for a classic
I think his voice sounds a lot like Sam Cooke, one of my favorite singers..
You are correct.
Absolutely! Sam Cooke's voice was like velvet...
