It really gets you pumped up for the upcoming review, and it helps people appreciate the stunning photography more. Sucks that this figure was such a letdown, but nonetheless great review!
From what I’ve seen of Legacy Breakdown, I’d have to give it a 7/10. 1 point for just being a member of the combiner, 2 for how the figure looks in car mode, and 4 points for the weapon storage in car mode that hides the gun
I feel obligated to finish the Menasor collection because it's hard to have it unfinished, but like you said, they do look good side by side with each other
Great review PrimeVsPrime!!!! Yikes, the Legacy Stunticons started so strong with Drag Strip and Motormaster, but they have ended on a sour note having Breakdown be a retool of Wildrider. (sigh) Looking forward to the combined Menasor review. Keep on being amazing.
WD40 isn't a lubricant - it's a penetrating oil. I'd recommend silicone spray, instead. Or, even better, a light sanding and maybe drill and pin down the centre of the pegs for reinforcement.
You were more than generous with your review considering what we got with this one. I personally can't reemphasize enough how disappointing Breakdown is. I just don't understand why Hasbro rushed this one and went totally lazy. All the other Stunticons got their individual attention to be reinterpreted into a fair G1 design for the new Legacy collection. The anticipation and let down at the very end is worst than Game of Thrones final season(s). Sadly, but also hopefully, some 3rd party upgrade kits can improve what Hasbro did ( or, rather did not do) with Breakdown.
Couldn't agree more. He has definitely split the fandom down the middle, w/those that dislike him, and those that dislike the dislikers for "whining". Not sure it's a good idea using any kind of petroleum products on plastic, even silicone paste can chemically react depending on the plastic (*Cough* Mega Construx *cough*), weaken it, and cause it to break even easier (I learned the hard way). Probably the best thing to do is shave the peg down with something circular (pencil sharpener like), or clean that paint off on the inside of the hole. Otherwise, some of the long time fans probably have a bettrr way to deal with it.
Ikr? Deadend Feet & Wildrider backpack is not even that huge a deal, thought I agree the whole Breakdown is a disappointment, but still it wasn't even that crazily bad. I've seen worse lol.
Even as disappointing as the retooling is these are still miles better then the combiner wars crap. No amount of laziness could reach the levels of repaint-wars.
They could’ve made him into a Lambo, they’ve done it for past figures with that car brand. Maybe the team might’ve just viewed him as the last component of Menasor and in turn just made him a Wildrider copy?!
Could have been worse, you could have had figures with the same quality as Combiner Wars Devastator and the FOC Combaticons, those guys were super flimsy and hollow. The Stunticons are solid and feel absolutely great, a vast improvement over the past gestalts
@@A.MNeverP.M Sure. But I think this is a little more painful because they were so close to perfection. The Combiner Wars version was pure garbage right from the get go. While this started out with two really good figures, then an okayish one with Deadend, then the two leg bots that are trash imo. It wasn’t consistent.
@@UnfaithfulServant97 Other than the backpack, Wildrider seems okay to me, but of course, Breakdown is a letdown. Hah. It'd be acceptable if he came with a new hood.
Only real complaint I have for it is the front of the vehicle mode. If they would've recast it to be more like a Lambo, it would've been much better. The removable spoiler is a bit of a let down, but at least he has a spoiler, unlike kingdom sideswipe.
Your first statement about these guys starting is exactly why I skipped on them. I had a feeling they weren't going to end strong so I just saved my money. Nice, honest review though!
This is why i'll never go in on a combiner without first seeing the whole thing. At least Hasbro got them all out fairly quickly, I mean at least here in Australia stores are only just getting the second wave of Legacy and Dragstrip is still very easy to find, so unlike most third party combiners it is actually possible to see the finished team before buying any of them. But that's about the only positive thing I can say for any of this combiner set apart from Dragstrip.
Same issues with Earthrise Grapple and Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus but, one was painted, Magnus, while Grapple was simply too thick. I sanded all the affected pegs down and they now for perfectly. Now that I think about it, same with Legacy Skids as the peg that holds the roof down, in alt mode, was also way too big. I had to sand off quite a bit of it before his roof would fit properly in alt mode.
I'm gonna cry if my breakdown Yellows. He looks so beautiful rn Plus he's my first Stunticon brought, so it looks like I'm on a quest to obtain them all! ✔️ Breakdown ⬛ Drag Strip ⬛ Wildrider ⬛ Dead end ⬛ Motormaster
I see what you mean about the spoiler. When it was placed in Breakdown's hand, my first thought was "razor boomerang." Sorry to hear about the problems with the tabs. Did your lubrication fix help at all? Were you able to repair the broken tabs?
i'm honestly fine with him being a Wildrider retool, makes sense after what they did with Dead End. That being said, with all the major retooling thats gone on lately - Dragstrip to Dead End, Jazz to Knockout - the fact that he doesn't even have a retooled car hood is rather dumb. i can't believe they didn't even make the spoiler two parts or just moulded it to be part of the legs. they've been doing that for so long, so I don't understand why adding a spoiler is now somehow difficult. The worst part is easily those shin tabs that have been lathered in paint. I get why they are, but when it has the potential to break the commander figure, I kinda don't feel good about it.
Look at it this way : As you said, Hasbro has done other faux lambos with better results. Had Hasbro used the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker mold in white and blue and put Breakdowns head on it, then it he would look a lot better and less people would complain. HOWEVER, given that Breakdown is a combiner and he has to form the right (or left) leg to complete Menasor, it makes the most sense to make him a Wild Rider retool.
I knew it that you'll review legacy breakdown, but i didn't collect all stunticons to make them combine form menasor, because there will be many complications or consequences with details in every mode
If memory serves your main issue with wildrider was the backpack deadend has the same backpack but it’s not an issue in him. Breakdown now has the same back pack and now it’s an issue again. I wish the hood got remoulded aswell but the figure as a whole looks great in car mode and robot mode in my opinion. Don’t feel this was a fair review it’s a good looking stand alone figure aswell as part of the team that’s just my opinion
Great review PvP! But now I'm sad, knowing how underwhelming he is. I'm happy to complete Menasor, but I was really hoping for better. Hasbro got me this time, but I'll definitely think twice before trying to complete any other combiners coming out in the future.
Other than Masterpiece and Legends-sized 3rd parties, there are no better Menasors out there. This is still better than CW imo & will look good with the other WFC/Chug bots, which is an "underdog" scale these days.
The Combiner Wars Breakdown definitely has a better and more accurate car mode though this one has a better bot mode. It's a shame they didn't remodel the front end since he's supposed to be (Or at least resemble) an 80's Lamborghini yet now he's a 288 GTO Ferrari mash-up. =P
Finally got mine today and to be honest I think hes ok. Glad I got 2 of each stunticons, probably keep 1 set in vehicle mode and the other set in menasor mode now try and get that upgrade kit if i can. Hope they do more combiners in legacy. Would love a Defensor one or Bruticus.
I don't think lube would help in the long run for combined mode Best bet would be to remove the excess paint in the 5mm holes Could probably take a que tip with some rubbing alcohol and remove the paint
I’ve never had a combined before so I was itching at the trigger waiting. After hearing rumours that it was Menasor I was hyped to see how it turned out but I literally feel nothing for the character (and their sold out everywhere anyway) but mark my words the day the first combaticon goes up for preorder. I’ll take their entire stock
Let's hope for a Bruticus next. The CW one wasn't that great, I hope for an upgrade. A Devy would be nice too. You know what? Do every combiner. And do them without the CW gimmick.
I’m not personally a huge fan of Wildrider, but it’s not horrible. Definitely better than Tracks, anyway. So therefore Breakdown is going to be acceptable for me. I do wish they’d used a whole new mold, but it’s possible their hands were tied due to needing to combine the same way as Wildrider.
Wow did he just literally complain about breakdown being a copy of wild rider and then praises the combiner wars figures which literally were copied multiple of times into other characters? 🤡
I have the Unite Warriors Stuntacons, which are basically just the Combiner Wars Stuntacons recoloured to be more G1 accurate. Among the many issues UW/CW Menasor had was that Breakdown, in leg mode, was slightly longer than Wildrider in leg mode. So maybe it's not such a bad thing that they recycled Wildrider's mold?
I wish Hasbro/TakaraTomy further retooled him to have his Lamborghini Countach mode instead of the Ferrari 308 and Lamborghini Countach hybrid. He's not bad, but not fully great either, he's just okay at best (I like Wildrider and Dead End a little better, despite their own flaws). It also makes me wish that a third-party company designs a Lambo frontend for him so that it could replace the Ferrari 308 frontend. But in the end, he's better than Studio Series Crankcase (who was just a repaint of Crowbar) as actual effort was made to make him look like the character as intended.
Honestly breakdown and wild Rider should have been retooled from dragstrip and dead end since in the cartoon show they all had the same wheels on their shoulders design , I really do think that would have made all of them look better
Never use WD40 on plastic!! Use silicone oil! WD40 contains mineral oils which will cause the plastic to dry out and crack. As for the ports use sandpaper or a file, hacksaw the spoiler in half if it bothers you. I take it you mean objective not subjective? Sorry couldn't help myself lol.
@@PrimeVsPrime use washing up liquid to clean off the WD40 with water of course. I recommend you put some silicone oil on afterwards, don't buy the stuff for cars (it's full of alcohol that also dries up plastic) use/buy the silicone oil made specially for airgun seals, all airgun and airsoft shops sell it, don't buy regular gun oil! It's easy to find, doesn't harm paint, preserves plastics and rubbers and is pretty cheap too. Abbey silicone oil is guaranteed to be the high quality stuff, don't use on metal to metal joints though.
Seriously, if Hasbro really wanted to do an evo fusion gimmick for this guy, they really should’ve just included 2 blasters and have the, combine like Tarn’s fusion cannon. That way we could avoid the partsforming for this.
He was an immediate "no thanks" as soon as I saw the preview images. The other four are upgrades to what was already in my collection, but CW Breakdown is going to stay in my Stunticon team. And hey - it saves me $25!
I've seen some people saying that the hood/roof section on Wildrider isn't difficult to remove (Don't have him so I'm not sure if it's true) so I'm sure some 3rd party will create a kit for him but honestly I'm kind of hoping that someone will just make a full replacement figure. Even if that would be the more expensive option, it's already going to cost *plenty* to buy the core figure *and* an add on kit; at that point I'd rather just cut Hasbro out of the loop in protest.
The CW version was the very first of the new scramble city line and had serious issues. I think that if you look as the set as a whole you got a pretty good Menasor. And a good addition to your collection. At least the best combiner as a whole to date.
Disappointing... I was actually going to collect all the figure but stopped at Dragstrip because like you, I think that him and Motormaster were the best and the rest... Very average at best (being generous). I think I'd have stumped up if they were released as a box set but I can't bring myself to buy them piece by piece.
@@PlatinumKnight-je3vy So the RRP on all the figs come in somewhere around the £200 mark. A portion of that is the individual packaging and artwork etc. I think that a boxset coming in at around the £130-150 price point would encourage me to get him but how doable that is, I'm not sure.
Whole Breakdown, Dead end feet & Wild rider backpack is only the main issue here, but in a grand scheme of things, it's not even that bad if you think about it.
Originally, I was upset that he wasn’t an extensive enough retool. However, now that I have Wildrider in hand, I’m upset he’s a retool at all. The Wildrider mold is such a disappointment compared to Dragstrip.

I love G1 Breakdown but I really hope legacy also makes Prime Breakdown and WFC Breakdown in SS
Prime Breakdown might not see a release after the end of Legacy and the next trilogy begins?!
I honestly really like this figure 🎉
I’m getting Menasor, there’s no way a slightly disappointing figure should ruin an entire combiner
Ikr? Deadend Feet & Wildrider backpack is not even that huge a deal, thought I agree the whole Breakdown is a disappointment, but still it wasn't even that crazily bad. I've seen worse lol.
@@GamingMafia_id yeah, I have seen WAY worse. Ahem, the entire CW line AHEM
Hi prime! great review again can't wait for the menasor review have a great day, evening or night
Thanks so much! You too! :)
Even as disappointing as the retooling is these are still miles better then the combiner wars crap. No amount of laziness could reach the levels of repaint-wars.
I think the CW maybe a tad better than this version honestly
What a massive letdown. Hasbro really dropped the ball here.
All of them look good! The spoiler gun axe reminds me of the thing you could do with seige red alert.
I'm gonna cry if my breakdown Yellows. He looks so beautiful rn
Plus he's my first Stunticon brought, so it looks like I'm on a quest to obtain them all!
✔️ Breakdown
⬛ Drag Strip
⬛ Wildrider
⬛ Dead end
⬛ Motormaster
Wow, his spoiler as an "axe" is very sad looking. You are completely right, it should have been done like WFC Wheeljack.
Great video thanks as always!
Thank you very much! It could've been easily rectified I think
awesome job about Transformers Legacy EVOLUTION Deluxe Class BREAKDOWN Review
I see what you mean about the spoiler. When it was placed in Breakdown's hand, my first thought was "razor boomerang."
Sorry to hear about the problems with the tabs. Did your lubrication fix help at all? Were you able to repair the broken tabs?
Do you think you getting the menasor model kit
True. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But that group shot is awesome!
i'm honestly fine with him being a Wildrider retool, makes sense after what they did with Dead End.
For me this is much better than combiner wars break down
Felt like the vehicle mode is better than Legacy though?!
@@PlatinumKnight-je3vy it's a tie for me mainly cause combiner wars break down had that 15 racing on the windshield
@@rykkerjones786 even though it had that the overall vehicle mode was better, Hasbro could’ve easily made him like that in Legacy.
Look at it this way :
As you said, Hasbro has done other faux lambos with better results.
I still love my Fansproject Menasor and still holds its place on my Decepticon CHUG shelf regardless of what’s come out since.
I wish they could have added Lamborghini parts to breakdown
Third Party companies will deal with that!
I probably will be picking up these guys but only display them as a team. My CW Menasor combiner will remain in combined mode
I don't think lube would help in the long run for combined mode
Best bet would be to remove the excess paint in the 5mm holes
Could probably take a que tip with some rubbing alcohol and remove the paint
Hey PVP!! In my opinion he look decent and is an IMPROVEMENT to the combiner wars Breakdown. Great review!
I was somewhat tempted to buy the set, but seeing this review has changed my mind.
Let's hope for a Bruticus next. The CW one wasn't that great, I hope for an upgrade. A Devy would be nice too. You know what? Do every combiner. And do them without the CW gimmick.
Volcanicus is confirmed to be the next line combiner figure, he was hinted with the reveal of the core class Dinobots back at Pulse Con.
@@PlatinumKnight-je3vy I'm talking regular sized ones, not core class
@@theholo-library4020 There likely won’t be a bigger combiner until the line after Evolution, it will have the theme of one per a toy line.
Sanding and shaving pegs to decrease friction will save you the pain of broken pegs, I do it on any tabs or pegs that give me anxiety.
Can’t wait to get mine completed especially with the upgrades
Wait are dead end and breakdown already out? I thought it was just possible to pre-order them!
Welp… guess I’ll have to shell out cash for a new hood for breakdown
Sadly so :( this one is veryyyyy in-accurate
The stunt icons look so good together I don’t even have wildrider
Get him if wish
I wonder if Bruticus will be part of the line as well 🤔
What gripes me the most is that Breakdown's alt is not a *Lambo*
...to think I was planning on buying the whole team ...now, I'm not so sure... 😞
I've always wondered, what is the song for the beginning part of your vids
Wow did he just literally complain about breakdown being a copy of wild rider and then praises the combiner wars figures which literally were copied multiple of times into other characters? 🤡
Has- has Hasbro just made a whole buffet for DNA Designs?
Also you splitting him in half made me laugh out loud, when that happened, it was 2 am
I agree - they definitely were veryyy lazy with this last stunticon unfortunately :(
Honestly breakdown and wild Rider should have been retooled from dragstrip and dead end since in the cartoon show they all had the same wheels on their shoulders design , I really do think that would have made all of them look better
I’m just waiting for the Aerialbots.. Let’s go Superion!.. 🤖
The paint looks great on it overall. There were clearly some corners cut and decided on. It's still cool though.
Why did they cheap out with breakdown? Are we getting a new mold of breakdown as an exclusive?
Never use WD40 on plastic!! Use silicone oil! WD40 contains mineral oils which will cause the plastic to dry out and crack. As for the ports use sandpaper or a file, hacksaw the spoiler in half if it bothers you. I take it you mean objective not subjective? Sorry couldn't help myself lol.
Ohhhh thank you for the tip! I will try and rinse it off!
Breakdown, more like LETDOWN
HE USED MY PUNCH LINE ❤❤❤
YEEESSS
Thank god you're here because I wouldn't have gotten ANY of the stinticons or the BS-03
Oh thanks for checking out those reviews! I am glad they helped made your purchase :)
@@PrimeVsPrime happy to support you :)
IT would have been cooler of we have just a prime universe breakdown than a g1 breakdown for legacy
Since we have a Legacy Menasor I would like to see an Autobot combiner, maybe Computron or Defensor.
I honestly dont mind Deadend, Wildrider and Breakdown. Maybe its bc I'm new to collecting but I still think they look great :0
The CW version was the very first of the new scramble city line and had serious issues. I think that if you look as the set as a whole you got a pretty good Menasor. And a good addition to your collection. At least the best combiner as a whole to date.
@@dgray3771 I dont even mind wildrider and breakdowns back kibble lmao
is there any other alternative? what other figs would fit menasor frame? is clampdown the same mold as well?
The devestator toy from combiner wars was perfect but they must do superion
Is he a retool? Yes. However I think they all look good together in Bot mode. I’m sure he will pop more once ToyHax does a pack for him.
I understand why it was a let down
Yes sadly so :(
I might be the only one who hates Dead End, but likes Breakdown. I think the kibble on his back gives him a more “alien” look.
Disappointing... I was actually going to collect all the figure but stopped at Dragstrip because like you, I think that him and Motormaster were the best and the rest... Very average at best (being generous). I think I'd have stumped up if they were released as a box set but I can't bring myself to buy them piece by piece.
Would be cheaper though?! I’d say that at least Dead End is good as well, though the bottom half isn’t but that’s all the negatives about him.
They should have just swapped Dead End with Breakdown. The DE mold already has a built in spoiler that splits in half, and the configuration of BD’s backpack would look more appropriate with DE.
I really dont like the look of breakdown but i want him to have a G1 inspired breakdown and knockout, so he'll have a lovely place next to my legacy knockout
