Hey man thank u sooo much for this video I’m going to get a brazo and love your set up! I have a question so it does not matter what teltrue thermometer I get because they are all the same correct?
Super excited!!! Also how you have them on both sides of the pit all I have to do is get a 7/8inch bit and go 7/8inch deep and the rest is history? Just make sure the are close to the low grate correct? Sorry first timer lol
@@NeenertinsBBQ yeah so you want them just above grate level on the left. Make sure you get the tel-tru installation kit with your thermometer. Drill out the hole with a step bit and some cutting grease. Take it to 7/8” and you will be good!
@@NeenertinsBBQ watch out for the brace on the door too. I had to cut mine because I didn’t think about it when I drilled out the hole. The door moved just a little when I cut that brace. So try to avoid that
@@BBBarbecueandPitsDo you prefer the Franklin Thermometers with the calibrator vs Tel-Tru BQ300 thermometers ? I ran into a problem with not being able to find bit to adjust the calibrator on the Franklin thermometers. So I ended grabbing a couple of open box Tel-Tru BQ300 . After they arrived I accidentally came across a bit in a mini screwdriver kit that could adjust the calibrator. Do you prefer the Franklins over the Tel-Tru BQ300 thermometers?
@@BlackMusicGenre so they are both going to perform the same because they are both made by teltru. I’ve had both and I couldn’t really tell the difference between the two (only that the Franklin one looks cooler to me). The dial is nice in case it ever gets off, but to be honest I haven’t checked it and it seems to have stayed dialed in over 2 years of using it. Anything made by teltru is going to be really reliable. Thanks for watching!
Becareful if your door is double walled insulated. Threads weren't long enough and I now have a hole stuffed with foil to block smoke in my smoker door. 😂🤌
Can't go wrong with a Tel-Tru! Super accurate.
I’d suggest removing the cooking grates before or putting foil inside to catch the shavings….would make cleanup easier
Yeah good tip because those shavings get everywhere
That’s quite the smoke stack you have there

As long as it’s Tel-Tru you should be good bud. They are spot on, I’ve had multiple ones and they work great. Thanks for watching!

@@BBBarbecueandPits No problem. One last thing. Did you get rid of your BQ300 thermometers?
@@BlackMusicGenre so the one I had was on my drum and I ended up selling that to my buddy. I’m planning on making a 55 gallon drum soon though
Nice and 7/8” 😂

Good point lol. This one was just a single piece
