Name R2 G2. Rusty Grill double stack!
@@pamatt1965 yeah that’s pretty good!! I’m in the middle of welding a new one for my buddy and we are making a video of it
Dude. You Rock!
@@pamatt1965 thanks! 😂
Looks awesome! One question; Why doesn't anyone put doors in them for the charcoal & the water tray?
@@TheCyleRitchie because the basket hold plenty of charcoal to run for like 14-15 hours. Then the water pan goes on the second grate and you can access that from the top. Plus it’s a huge pain in the a** to try and do the door without a welder.
Great presentation in the box!
phenomenal
Great build brother! I want to make one myself, but i am concerned about the airflow. Does anybody know if air gets to the bottom properly? And is there a way to increase it on a less windy day?
@@rafaelthakoer1533 yeah it works really good with the pipes. I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong with this set up. I’ve used drums so long it has become a set it and forget it at this point. They are so consistent!! Thanks for watching buddy!
@@BBBarbecueandPitshaha 'set it and forget it' ok man thank you, i trust your knowledge!💪🏾 Here in Suriname bbq is a big part of our culture. Traditionally we just grill chicken and on a good day, ribs. Opening a american style bbq joint with proper smokers specifically for smoking other cuts of meat is my dream, it could change the whole dynamic of how grill and smoke over here. If i really do build this smoker i'll forsure copy these exact colors. The patina is craaazy good looking. I love everything about this smoker man!
@@rafaelthakoer1533 thanks for the kind words! If you ever have any questions just reach out to me.
@@BBBarbecueandPits that's very cool of you. Looking forward to more videos, cheers.
Are those disposable but high temp proof gloves? Where did ya get them? Thanks!
@@DregGayton777 so it’s some cotton gloves under some disposable gloves
I bought a cheap charcoal grill smoker from wally world and it leaks from everywhere! I mean I tried to smoke a side of pork ribs. It took 10 hours and two bags of charcoal and a bag and a half of smoke wood along with some apple wood I had stacked up in my back yard. Trying to get the smoker up to 250 was impossible. 10 hours to cook a side of pork ribs is ridiculous. I am so disappointed with this piece of garbage. 127 bucks. It will cook hamburgers and hot dogs and you can grill a steak but for a brisket.....forget it. So I am trying to seal up all of the areas I saw smoke coming from which is every door all the way around especially the back of the grill. A huge gap there. I bought some grill gasket from lowes here in amarillo. The grill name is Expert. 30 feet of grill gasket. I used every bit of that on the main grill. 5 layers of grill gasket in the backside where most of the smoke was escaping. I haven't even started on the firebox. Thats gonna be tricky I think. I ordered the lavalock grill gasket from amazon. It comes with the high temp caulk, or silicone that I will use on the firebox. I also need to seal around the stack. The firebox is gonna be a challenge because of the way it was made. I'm gonna have to take it apart and apply the sealer to the seams and around the door and where it attaches to the main body. I hope it works. I'm already almost two hundred deep on this grill. I'm just trying to be able to smoke a brisket on it. With all the gasket stuff and the thermometer 255 dollars deep.
@@grumerguy yeahhhh those grills are total pieces of junk. If all that doesn’t take care of it I would start looking on fb marketplace for the one that I have in this video. Those are usually on fb and are better quality. Metal thickness is a problem too for you since you have that cheapo grill. So not only are you losing heat and smoke from the doors, the metal isn’t thick enough to keep it insulated. But hey try it out and see what happens
@@BBBarbecueandPits Exactly what I plan to do except for fb marketplace. I don't do fakebook. Tried it years ago but a family member (just barely) used fakebook to get my home information to deliver a threat to me. It was at that point I deleted my account and swore to NEVER use fakebook again. I still have my weber and I'll use that until it can't be used anymore but that's gonna be a loooong time. It's already been like 10 years. You can replace grates when the grates become too warped so, like I said, it'll be a loooong time before that grill dies. This piece of crap has a two year warranty on it. As far as I'm concerned, the warranty is already in play!
I was on the fence between ledge or peak size but with these grates I cam expand my cooking space when needed. Usually just cook for my family of 5 (3 little kids right now)...so I dont think I need a peak size hmmm
@@DregGayton777 oh yeah the grate system is awesome because it maximizes your space like you said because in the top there is all that wasted area. I usually just run 2 grates in it and it is perfect for what I need without bogging down the smoker. Thanks for watching!
@BBBarbecueandPits right on! Do you sometimes wish you wanted the larger size GMG? I'm still on the fence which stinking size to get!
@@DregGayton777 no not really. I can fit 8 racks of ribs on it running two racks so it’s plenty of space.
Would you consider doing a 1 year update video on the pimp my grill racks? They seemed to perform well in this video, but I'd love to know your opinion now that you've had a year's worth of use.
@@mcf8720 I probably won’t just because the grill is stored for contests. But I will tell you that they have held up well with all the usage I’ve gotten out of them. I do like running 2 racks in there for the majority of the time because it gives you more space. I’m not just saying this either because I actually bought the rack system myself, the company did not give them to me.
Let's see the Patio videos! 🔥
Is this better than a PBC?
Thanks for the video, brother. I have a charcoal Weber in my garage I bought years ago, and used often. Since I got my smoker I’ve neglected it. I’m going to use this video to restore it. Where did you get your parts from. I can get them from Amazon, however if you know where to get them cheaper that would be awesome.
@@nvalade1985 Thanks for watching buddy glad I could be of assistance!! Just search Weber parts on Amazon and you will find the knock off parts. I’ve used the three blade knock off from Amazon and it works fine.
I've built several smokers, grills, crawfish boilers, from everything drums, aluminum, stainless steel. But this one I truly like because it's unique looks like it will work great, and the side intake pipe. Besides the finish is cool. God bless y'all.
@@bayoutrapper3782 thanks!! Yeah this drum is a good cooker. I used it in one contest we did and placed in pork. In the process of building another one with my welder now
How do you refil with wood or coal without removing the food ??
So, with these types of smokers you fill the basket up with charcoal and add wood chunks in it for the smoke. A full charcoal basket will last for over 10 hours easy (depending on the temp you are running at)
It always amazes me how some people treat their smokers, leaving it outside to die like that 😟 You did a great job 👍💪 Much respect from The Netherlands!

@@BBBarbecueandPits Excellent! Have a good weekend!
Jesus do not do what this guy did at all. Weber grills are porcelain coated and you need to use appropriate paint. Also you actually have to remove ALL of the rust before resurfacing.

Damn I wish I was by you I would pay you to build me a smoker
Are Weber kettles worth fixing/restoring? Sometimes they are, and sometimes they aren't. It just depends on the overall condition of the grill, and how much you have invested into it. There's also the setimental, and collectible factor to consider, as well. New ones are $130 plus, and the quality isn't quite as good as the older ones. You can also find them all day on marketplace for cheap...sometimes free. These things will last for years if you treat them right.
@@jasonbrodess5242 yeah that’s it. Restoring an old one from fb marketplace is wayyy cheaper in the long run as long as there is no extensive rust damage

what that spray you used before you use it?
Pam Cooking Spray all on the inside
@@BBBarbecueandPits is it that much necessary it is kind of expensive around here?
@@mohammedghanem9469 you can use any kind of cooking oil or beef tallow. Use whatever is cheapest for you. You are just using it to start to get a good season on the inside to prevent any rusting
