So much respect for doing stuff like this yourself to such an exotic super car. Much more enjoyable to watch than videos out there with professional mechanic or workshop doing same job.
I like this. I like how you don't put any bullshit music that no one wants to hear. I also like how you only show snippets of what you are doing and you EXPLAIN as you go along. So many other channels follow the recipe of terrible music playing while we watch someone work on a car in fast motion. No thanks. Your method and videos are great, entertaining and I am actually learning watching you. Thumbs up! Keep up the good work!
You nailed that on the head! Why does everyone play techno bullshit DJ music in every clip and talk forever? This is great how it shows all of the main items and no "filler" so to speak
Erik Anderson Man you said it! They place modern electronic music because they copy each other--then they show them working in "hyperspeed"! How about NO music and explaining what you are doing in highlights (we don't need to see a man unscrewing bolts for 7 minutes!) This channel has nailed the BALANCE of working and explaining but an excess of neither.
I’ve been a RUclips user for about 10 years now and never subscribed to any channel. Not a single one, no matter how good the video was. But today, I will subscribe to you my friend.
This guy is living a good life and making educational videos. No one has the right to give him any flak or say anything negative. Thank you for contributing your time for the videos!
Exactly. The closest I came to a Ferrari was owning a Viper last year. Did all my own work as well. Loved it. I subscribed. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
As ever, great clip and I'm with you all the way, on the torque click, but hate it when the torque setting seem wrong and something over compresses or breaks! Great to see her out on the road again and your beaming smile says it all😎👍

Best DIY video I have seen in a while!!!! Quite a number of tools required, but definitely doable. Daniel do u have any service manual? Curious to know how you know what goes where which bolts get removed etc. Great job I think this video will helped so many owners in the years to come
Lmao, I love hearing the shitty 72 tooth drive sounds from that craftsman ratchet. It resonates with your Channel title, not hating It is great. There needs to be more DIY people out there, doing your own repairs on whatever you own, honda civic or f430 makes you understand what is going on under the panels. If people built it, people can repair it!
Enjoyed the video, even though as a former Euro car mechanic I am intimately familiar with this job. But dude, your gonna kill that poor 1/2" ratchet if you keep using it to break suspension/brake bolts free. Ever heard of a breaker bar? Your mechanicing will be so much easier if you invest in one. Also should be using anti-sieze compound on the cv-joint spline/bearing interface, will make removals much easier next time. Keep up the good work.
Ha, I can tell you live in the land of Harbor Freight. Here in the land of down under we look after our tools more cos everything is so bloody expensive. Admire your enthusiasm on working on your own Ferrari, though some people seem to forget that at the end of the day it is just a car with nuts, bolts and the rest. Not rocket science.
I like this guy, Uses simple tools some from harbor freight and thats all right. Seems to be a down to earth kinda guy, wouldn't mind buying him a beer. Thank you for the Videos.
Its really nice to watch, especially as a car guy who worked on couple special and supercars! I got the feeling people think mechanic a Wizards, but no its just Hard Grind with a lot of solution seeking, no matter the car.
Totally looking forward to the header video. Many are saying the aftermarket header will be droney and way too loud without the pre-cat, curious to know what you feel. My header might be leaking so I am on the fence after going aftermarket or another OEM... Thanks!
Haha those staked nuts are no match for a good strong impact wrench!! I've replaced a dozen or more CV axles with 32mm and 36mm nuts, always staked and I always just blast them off with my impact. No need to mess with trying to get the stake out of the little notch. Hey nice bikes on the wall, too. Do you ride much?
I noticed at the end when you drove off the ramps the little flaps that usually sit behind the upper grill is missing. they are flaps that sit on the left and right side of the rear engine cover latch. basically both sides of the horse but behind the grill. I was able to notice because you can see right through the grill and see the intake box.
hmmm makes sense. I love your videos. I have a 2007 f430 F1 and everything you say about the car is spot on. Thanks Dan - appreciate the videos. Thanks for being brave enough to do this and post videos regardless of haters. Do you think replacing both fronts at the same time would have been a better (albeit more pricey) decision?
Excellent job !! Suggest getting a bottle of Permatex Nevr-Seez and put some on the splines of the axle shaft and bolt threads. If you ever have to take it apart, is makes it so much easier.
Great videos! Keep it up. The courage you have to work on your car is astonishing. How did you know you needed the wheel bearing done? What would your local Ferrari mechanic have charged you to do the work?
In the Future how about servicing powersteering fluid/drain and fill. If your car even has power steering? Really cool to see an exotic vehicle serviced @ home.
Love the torque click and takes all the guesswork out. Hate that feeling when you get as a bolt goes rubbery, just before it shears. At least it wasn't anything too important but wonder how it would affect balance of the hub? BTW, I have just got my switches back from being de stickified too!
Did you inspect other bearing on other side maybe you should be proactive and replace it as well, I was surprised that no grease was needed when you replaced it. Great video enjoy the ride!
Now all cars, even supercars, come with sealed bearings. Easier to replace but more expensive than older style, where could replace inner and outer bearings and races for a few bucks...
Hi, Great entertaining videos thanks. Where do you get your info for the repairs you do eg procedures and torque settings. Did the ferrari come with a repair /workshop manual ? ta
Daniel - that wheel alignment stud you broke.... Is that just to help with placing the wheel back on the hub and getting the lug bolts in correctly? My guess is that someone has a stud kit that you can replace for the lug bolts. They thread into the hub and then the wheel slides on them and you secure the wheel with lug nuts. I'm looking into same for the 981.
Please hold the whole setup perpendicular to bolt heads! 60 NM is not much of a torque for these bolts but when I see someone tightening in an angle manner just doesnt feel right. Torque force should be applied perpendicular to the bolt head plane in order to be correct otherwise it is not and also damaging the bolt head socket. I know that this could repeated 100 times without any problem regarding the size of the hex but it doesnt feel right somehow. And that sound of the whole cast thing was amazing. When you put it on the concrete floor it sounded pretty hardened. Best regards and keep on doing your thing!
Nice videos!! I Know it is probably bugging you the fact that that stud broke off, it is not my car and is bugging me off!! Lol. Did you have to get an alignment after the bearing replacement? Thanks for your videos!!
How many miles on the car? Can't imagine too many, and already time for new wheel bearings, hmm. Kudos on posting this video, showing it's absolutely possible to DIY a Ferrari!
How do you put the car in service mode? I was under the impression when you put the car in park it sets the e-brake, but it looks like the e-brake caliber had no pressure when you removed it? Sorry if that's a stupid question.
Hi Daniel, I've been enjoying your vids over the last couple weeks. I could never afford one myself but I did have the Tamiya 1/10 RC F430 that I raced a few years back. The most powerful car I've owned was a 1989 Mazda FC RX-7 Turbo II, it was dynoed at 235 BHP, nothing too spectacular, especially compared to a Ferrari but definitely a fun car to drive. Sorry if it's been covered before but what sort of power figures do the F430 put out?
Daniel, I have enjoyed watching the DIY videos that you have posted. I wish that someone would post some for the Lambo Diablo. By chance do you know the part numbers for the Brembo calipers that are on your car? I'm looking to upgrade my brakes this year. Thank you Keep up the good work.
Looked really straightforward, actually probably easier than doing a Honda wheel bearing which usually requires a slide hammer and some type of press to press the new bearing into the hub. I'm not sure if I would trust those cheap ass torque wrenches on a Ferrari, though. I have one that I use for lug nuts and axle nuts only. Anything else I use a nice Craftsman torque wrench.
Its a Ferrari and gets babied. Working on a Honda is harder because it's a daily driver and goes in rain / snow and doesn't get the cleaning it should. A Honda with bad wheel bearing will be in the 100,000k range. Any car is easy to work in when its new and taken care of. Half the battle is stuck and rusted bolts on cars
Nice job, but if the bearing went because of normal wear you should change them in pairs, of course it it was because other reason like hit something with the wheel its ok to change only one.
Ah ok. I didn't knew that. By the way you doing a nice job in those videos. Keep that way. Thanks for your reply and all the best from Madeira Island, Portugal.
Also, if doing one might have been best to do both so that you have a clean slate on the rear bearings. My 2 cents worth :-) BTW, I wonder how mucg a Ferrari dealership/service would have charged for what seems like a quite straight forward and easy DIY job?
You are the fucking MAN!!!!! I don't own a Ferrari, but people ask "how do you work on your Audi and benz" my response is, I don't go to the stealership when A. I own tools and B. I love fixing my own shit!!!! keep doing what your doing man...

Dan, where did you buy the huge torque wrench? For your next vids, maybe you can tackle changing out the engine mounts, transmission mounts, and valve cover gaskets? Those would be pretty awesome to have on here! Thanks again for the great vid.
I'll send you the intake Gaskets if you make the DIY vid. I believe from 07 and on they are made out of metal, prior to 07 they were paper gaskets and the do deteriorate and cause misfires
I was able to get the hub off using liquid wrench, a 7 ton bearing removal tool, a heat gun and prayers. I'm not sure about on the F430 but apparently Ferrari uses Arexons system 56a01 high strength retaining compound (which I understand to be the Italian equivalent of Loctite 609) on the hub/axle which makes it a beast to get the hub off;
Well let me know if you are ever in the Houston area again; I see you have a 458; Maybe we can let them meet once I get mine back up and running; I'll let you know if I'm back in the Austin area

hi, great channel, greetings from Mexico, as recommendation, every time you put again your bolts add some grease, oil or wd40 to get the job easier.

awesome to see a Ferrari ow er actually work on his own car! you should take the brake caliper off before. unbolting any suspension parts
Yeah hindsight...
Great that you did the job yourself instead of having a $hop do the work! Congrats on getting back on the road.

No I sold it and now have a 458
I'm thinking about getting one as my first exotic, would you recommend that car over an older model Gallardo?
How did you discover the bad bearing?

was there a whining noise? how did u know ? did u lift each wheel and listen for it?
It was making a thumping noise
Torquing up the hub nut did someone have foot on brake or did you put it in gear?
In gear
do you do trackdays with your ferrari or just drive around town?
Your videos are great

Daniel Hurlbert Good call, maintenance for maintenance sake on a Ferrari will get very expensive lol. Thanks, I'll check out the advance auto website.
I'll send you the intake Gaskets if you make the DIY vid. I believe from 07 and on they are made out of metal, prior to 07 they were paper gaskets and the do deteriorate and cause misfires
Where did you get the bearing tool from? I am using one from Oreilly to remove the hub assembly from my 458 and it's about to die.
Harbor Freight. LOL!
Wow; Can you give me the model #? I borrowed the 5 ton one from Oreilly and it's about to die;
I was able to get the hub off using liquid wrench, a 7 ton bearing removal tool, a heat gun and prayers. I'm not sure about on the F430 but apparently Ferrari uses Arexons system 56a01 high strength retaining compound (which I understand to be the Italian equivalent of Loctite 609) on the hub/axle which makes it a beast to get the hub off;
@@joegoodwin3157 ah nice, good work. Yeah mine didn't seem to have anything on it... Maybe why mine came off sorta easily
Well let me know if you are ever in the Houston area again; I see you have a 458; Maybe we can let them meet once I get mine back up and running; I'll let you know if I'm back in the Austin area
God damn that car is sweet af! That black on red is ridiculous🤙🏽😍💣🔥
Thank you! :)
hahaha you're so cool! Love the farrari F430 has always been my favorite
not needed to change the exhaust?
You should try out FerrParts
Great video! I'm sure all the Ferrari owners out there will appreciate this tutorial for when they change out their wheel bearings themselves...... In all seriousness, much respect that you work on your car. @8:16 ah you fuck! Lol
Ha! Hopefully it's useful.
what the hell the nut broke off. Ferrari quality ;-). Like the video very much
What was the resolution for the wheel guided bolt/stud saga?
Great job did you use to work for ferrrari
Nope.
Daniel, you have almost 500 subs! Yea!
My favourite thing about this video is reading the comments and listening to all these professional exotic car mechanics give their two cents... "dude you should do this" "you should do that" "wow hes treating the car poorly" fuck off let the man do his thing
Best comment of the year here folks. Learn from it. LOL! Seriously. It never ends. It's part of why I sometimes really hate doing these DIY videos.
Probably best to remove brake calipers first then proceed to other bolts. ;-)
wait, tie rod on the rear? like a stabalizer arm?
I guess so?
I find it interesting that Ferrari uses uni-ball joints instead of ball joints, located in double shear.
I have no idea why.
Good job doing that yourself!
Beautiful car.
Thank you
Good job matey
Thanks!
