The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

Apart from the brilliant play and the talent of these two teen world class tennis players, their emotional maturity is also amazing, beyond their ages.

Fernandez is obviously not emotionally mature. Her entitled complaining, crying, finger-pointing antics saying her opponent was buying time, to a top official right in front of an injured Radacanu was like watching a 10 years old entitled brat.

Being 18 years old and making it to the final in a grand slam is once in life time is overwhelming. If did what she did maybe it was wrong and at 19 you dont expect for young lady to be emotionally mature. Regarding Raducanu yes she voluntarily slid and scraped her shin and it doesnt take 5 min to put a band aid on take a break resetting etccc. These are teenagers just starting with their careers at the elite level we have to support them and wish them the best.

Emma Raducanu was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and holds British and Canadian citizenship. So again, a Canadian by birth, still Canadian, and hardly an immigrant for just moving to another part of the Queen's realm at age 2. Maybe both of them can claim that their parents were immigrants, but neither of them are. That's one of the great things about the Americas, is that like 90% of us, all of us other than the few who are like pure American Indian or other indigenous people, we all go back to somewhere else, all over the globe.
I love the way she interviews, it's so innocent yet inspiring.

I figure I will be able to help out again at some point, hopefully, sooner than later. I have been to Romania by the way, in Transylvania, it was beautiful. Leylah isn't Romanian, Emma has a Romanian father, her mother and father are both in finance, I suspect they may help out sooner than I will be able to do that but I will remember your request. I feel the time will come when I can do that very thing. Maybe we can match our donations and give together. Be patient.

Feel her pain, that such a young girl has such mature attitude shows how much pain she’s gone through. Now you can become more like a person at your age. Life is not long enough to be wasted but hope she would be relaxed and enjoy this great achievement than thinking of winning next time. In life, becoming a winner is not taking one and only position.
Not only is she a great tennis player but man can she give speeches. I can already see all the commercials she’ll be doing along with Emma. Both are so incredible.

That's sport, but what matters is how U handle defeat with graciousness and class, and Leylah was superb, it shows her character and it's awesome. As far as I'm concerned Tennis is the winner to have two amazingly talented and classy ambassadors for the sport. Fed and Rafa has been carrying the torch for a while, it's now Emma and Leylah's turn

@@redlavish7027 it was a longer delay than she felt it should have been. While I get that Emma needed attention and couldn't be playing bleeding all over the court, I do understand how that break disrupted Leylah's rally. I don't think it would have meant she could have won the match however. She might have taken the game but Emma was always going to win that match. Tennis is as much a mental game as it is physical.
@@soundtreks Analyzing the points played previously, Leylah had many 7 points against the Profis, whereas Emma had always the same with the highest of 6 Points. I think she was so exhausted already after competing with the top Players earlier. With the No. of Fans and Friends she won at this US Open worldwide, that is , I think already a big WIN.
Well Leylah having said, one more thing: Recognizing the 9/11 and pointing our the resilience of the NY over 20 years, That got me , this young lady should be proud of her accomplishment , no doubt she's going places!!

100% agree. I was wondering if anyone would bring up 9/11, and how could it be done without sounding crass or corny, yet Leyla was clear-headed enough to come up with such a classy comment. Mature beyond her years. And with that said; well done Emma!
it was a calculated speach to win the crowd, to compare her loss of a tennis match to 911 is crass, she was a sore loser who tried to steal Emma's thunder , she lost that is it.

As a tennis fan for 40 years, and a Canadian, I watched Leylah play several tournaments on TV going back a few years.
I remember thinking the only way she can go deep in tournaments or become a seeded player would be her defense and I was right.
Very proud of how well she did, taking out three Top 10 players. Tennis is a great sport to watch, one break is all it takes. One errant shot, one misplaced volley, one ill advised drop shot.
Leylah seems years ahead of her age. Humble, grounded, well spoken. Such a bright future and pleasure to watch.

I am amazed by the humility and generosity of both finalists. It was clearly a tougher interview for Leylah to handle, as quite naturally she had to deal with her disappointment - but both were so moving to listen to. I really hope they both go on to win future titles.
