Watching this was heartbreaking. Naomi apologizing for winning. What a terrible audience.
not only was she kicking butt before all that, it was also Serena’s fault to keep getting violation after violation. I guess poor sports get praised more then good ones like Naomi
Hell they cheated for her.!...REAL athletes want to win with their talents NOT just be given WINS.!.
tennis is for the rich, entitled and spoiled. Also could be a New York thing
Not about audience
Serena took up for her and asked he crowd to stop booing. Naomi played well, but the match was stolen from Serena. She is also very shy and fades into the background purposely. I hope she finds her confidence and owns her stuff. She is beautiful
This is painful to watch for Naomi. This woman's greatest achievement that she should have been most proud of has been trampled by arrogant fools.
That is America.. worst country full of piece of shit arrogant ignorant and hypocrite people

The most disgraceful moment in tennis history. You owe Naomi an apology
Serena “supposedly “ wrote Naomi a personal letter apologizing. I don’t think she had done it publicly though. She really acted like a two year old. Throwing a tantrum in her tutu. She acts like a little child when things don’t go her way on the court. I lost respect for her that day.
Amen
The referee should definitely apologize! He ruined a great tennis match. Agreed!!
No
@@emmajackson281 no, Serena’s coach admitted to trying to tell her something.
" Perhaps it's not the finish we were looking for today."
How can you say that when the winner is standing right there!! This was absolutely heartbreaking. Naomi had nothing to apologise for, she won because of her hard work and effort!
If the winner were not there, then saying it would not induce the sadistic pleasure she is deriving from inflicting psychological pain via verbal humiliation.
he actually said "no the finish YOU were looking for today". listen to it again. nevertheless, this was so painful and heartbreaking to watch. poor naomi.

As an American I'm ashamed of how the crowd treated her. The booing was inexcusable. It should have been a happy moment for her. She should have never apologized for winning. She deserved to win. She worked hard for this and she should be celebrating in this moment.

Serena to crowd: “We’ll get through this”. As if it’s some shared national tragedy.

Serena loves playing the victim role. I seriously laughed so hard when she screamed “I’m a mother”… ok, so …? 🤦♀️ she lost my respect that day.

She had to insert herself.
Re-watching this knowing of her depression really makes you see how disgusting this entire situation actually was. How this crowd and the officials acted towards her was awful. You should never diminish a player's accomplishments - and that's exactly what they did here. I can't believe this happened to her and wish I could give her a huge hug.

Katrina Adams said " Perhaps not the finish we were looking for today". Then proceeded to praise Serena the "Champion of Champions". What a way to devalue Osaka's win. That's why Osaka had to apologise. Such a disgraceful conduct. Shame.
yeah I get that there were many emotions, but Katrina Adams seriously overstepped with that sentence here, really disgraceful.

Neeraj Kalwani .. kinda ..yeahh.maybe they were booing the umpire..
But point blank...they shouldn't have been booing anyone...

Its disgusting to watch. Its like the sport is circulating around one individual, a circle jerk. They should encourage competition.
Imagine being a parent, a mother and seeing your daughter being booed by spectators. That is beyond heart wrenching! What is wrong with these people ----- that Naomi has to apologize for even winning! SMH! I just feel for Naomi's mom and family during all of this time. It was her first win... and for the rest of her life ---- this is all that she will remember!

Yes and Serena agitated the crowd by her entitled rant at the referee. She knew she was going to loose and needed an excuse. It's all about her. Her superstar status is too big. Nothing to do with racism or sexism.
How can someone not fall in love with this sweet super-player Naomi Osaka? She was always discrete, quiet, feminine and also scared of her first appearance at this level. As Naomi said, "everybody was cheering for Serena..." When Naomi speaks, her words are kind, innocent and naïve. My UTMOST respect to you NAOMI for being so sweet and for being such a magnificent player ! We want to continue watching you breaking records all over the world, Sweetie!
Dude, if you think the us open crowd is the worst, try the crowd of Rolland Garros. Trust me, I'm French and I really disgusted by the attitude of some of my compatriots sometimes.
Serena couldn't help being patronizing towards Naomi by saying its her first grand slam ... Sore loser. Being a real champion requires more, like what Naomi displayed.
This was so sad. I could see how conflicted she was poor baby. She is a champion!!! And she deserved that title! Congratulations Osaka! You earned it fair and square!!!
It’s really confusing for a young person to even understand what’s going on in events like this, especially when dealing with a mental illness
Even after Serena lost, the US Open still made it about her. Come on, this was Naomi's moment... I hope she wins again and get the applause and adulation she deserves.

The winner deserves it! the score is loud and clear...this young woman did an amazing win over Serena and Serena knows that! Congratulation Naomi and to Japan!
Congratulations Naomi Osaka , you have a capacity to be the winner , you have the game , the mental and yet still humble .
Melodee Morita im asuming youve met her on several occasions. I was looking at your channel and saw you interviewing people.
This is soo heartbreaking! 3 years later and it’s still the hardest thing to watch!
As an American I'm ashamed of how the crowd treated her. The booing was inexcusable. Did not expect this reaction from Americans !!
what kind of audience makes an athlete have to apologise for winning....
And makes an athlete depressed..and now, Naomi drop out of French open 2021
An American crowd.
I felt so sad when she said that🙁
@@arifrahmanhakimmd9855 I pray she comes back stronger and show them what she is made off.
@@IrenaDeacon I hope so.. always support her (^v^)//
She’s so respectful, her parents raised a great champion.
raised in florida by hatian and japanese parents. i hope her next major win has her smiling though
For a minute I thought you meant Serena. I was about to reply "Rubbish, she should be caged when angry!" Naomi is a nothing short of a gem - off and on the court. Hope we see her win more Slams in front of better more respectful crowds.
No that umpire needs to be caged. Serena has every right to be angry. The crowd was angry with the umpire not Osaka. She's innocent in all of this as Serena pointed out.
Flora, that's the attitude you can't have. Just because you're angry and because Serena is angry, Osaka ends up being caught in the crossfire. Even if you don't mean it, Naomi is the one suffering the most and that's what people have to understand: you made a 20 year old champion cry on the podium because you felt it was more important to boo the umpire than cheer for her.
Sunil...If she meant Serena, what would you have done, keyboard warrior? LMAO
Osaka so sensitive and getting/being emotional, a warm heart: Delicate/Champion.
I play tennis myself and I know how hard it is to win a championship in a tournament because I never won one. It takes so much more than just physical training. This is forever inspiring no matter in tennis or in life. She is a mom now and I know she will do a great job. Hope to see her smile again holding her next trophy.
The people in the crowd should be ashamed of themselves
Absolutely, I really makes my blood boil
Mostly feminist leftist
in the stadium it’s hard to understand vs from watching at home they were confused.
"we're gonna get through this" "Perhaps it’s not the finish we were looking for today" and the crowd is booing a 20 year old champion? This is ridiculous
I know! It was so damn condescending too like it was blatantly "promised" to her thst she was going to win. WHATEVER YOU WIN SOME AND YOU LOSE SOME. I'm sorry spoiled brats and I just can't & don't mix well
amerifats were a mistake
Charms, Serena and Katrina Adams are so low class, bad sportsmanship and are a bad examples to all people.
talk about a backhanded compliment... that lady should be ashamed!
Yep, ..."Perhaps it was not the finish WE were looking for today,..." [emphasis added by me]. ...This was said by Katrina Adams, the woman who's acting in the capacity of the president of the U.S. Tennis Association! 1:41 . ...What the heck were they expecting Naomi Osaka to DO to ensure that Serena walks away with her 24th Grand Slam win?
Heartbreaking... This child dominated despite the ignorance that day. I hope she finds peace and continues to compete at the highest levels.
I'm a Serena fan but after seeing this I'm now a fan of Naomi for her humility and ofc her ability she's a great player and I honestly look forward to her great future. You go GIRL!!!!!!!!!! I'm proud of u
This just makes me sob 🥺😭 when the lady said “perhaps it’s not the finish we were looking for today...”
I was like DAFUQ?!!! How could you say that?! Rude!
You just see Naomi’s face like “Gee, Thanks 😒”
Serena: loses
Katrina: "Serena is a champion of all champions"
It aches my heart when Naomi says sorry...
Her smile at the end was gorgeous! I love Japanese People! 😊
RESPECT
Ted 16 that’s when i cried truly. Nooooooooo
Mohammed Yusuf lol ur laughing and I think everyone else would be laughing that you were born without all your chromosomes
Noami..im sorry..im sorry for the shameful booing coming from the crowd..its YOUR moment! You have achieved full honor for your achievement and made your dream a reality..not many of us are fortunate enough of such a feat..well done!👍👍👍
Imagine how Djokovic feels every single time he plays here and he is actually one of the best tennis players ever and still no respect from the crowd.
Thank god he got some respect this week
I agree but was he booed like this during the award moment? Not questioning you, just curious...
@@thegalhorowitz He wasn't booed because he lost. The crowd loves to see him lose for no reason other than him beating Federer and Nadal
@@vedanthdinesh8024 you didnt understand what I wrote.
@@thegalhorowitz were you referring to this year's US Open or in general? People don't boo him when he wins cause they know that their boos won't affect him at that stage
Pathetic audience!
Naomi you go woman! You are absolutely legendary
she looks so sad and defeated even though she won. I can't believe how the audience did this to her
Not only the audience, officials too. Apparently not the result they were hoping for.
“Perhaps it's not the finish we were looking for today, but Serena, you are a champion of all champions.” This comment was the worst.
Serena's tantrum and the booing of the audience were childish and rude but I understand that they wanted to win so badly, but I really can't believe that US Open President and Chairwoman Katrina Adams actually said the awful comment in front of Osaka at the awards ceremony.
No class. She is standing in the middle with her back to Naomi the champion.
Was just horrible to see her in this state for what should have been her fairytale moment
Serena knew she was a strong opponent and did all she could to take the victory away from her. Once again making it all about herself. Serena William's is a disgraceful athlete.
Naomi Osaka you are an amazing young lady. I just became your fan.
MariaL Sanchez YES FUCK SERENA AND THAT DAMN AUDIENCE NAIOMI FOR THE WIN
Me too .
私も、彼女が大好きです!
MariaL Sanchez Such a dignity she has. I’m impressed
Me2❤🎉🎉🎉
Naomi loved your so dedicated performance
The Japanese kindness and respectfulness sinks in her body fully. I’m so glad she was not raised by an American
US Open winner's speech: "I'm Sorry".
Just like Nadal at the 2009 Australian
русские в комментах) я удивлен, что у нее вообще хватило сил и выдержки что-то сказать после подобного поведения Серены. Наоми вполне могла демонстративно покинуть церемонию и ей бы слова дурного не сказали.
So sad
Made me want to cry, she shouldn't have to apologize for winning
Yeah man I was like, "She's sorry? What is she? Canadian?"
My heart broke for Naomi. She should never have to apologize for winning.
Lmao shut up
IT'S MAV no
Jennifer Glenn he’s pressed 😂
I agree. It was a bittersweet moment for Naomi.
Just watch this now and my heart breaks into pieces for Naomi💔 i will support you will all my heart in every thing you do..NAOMI you are the true CHAMPION❤️
Naomi being booed because of Serena and Medvedev being booed because of his nationality are the worst things I've seen in tennis.
YOU WON SWEETIE. THERE IS NO REASON TO EVER APOLOGIZE FOR WINNING. CONGRATS NAOMI... WELL DESERVED.
She won because she was given points. I bet it could've gone to a 3rd set game.
@@ChezFeroce bruh this is from 2018 and you are trying to start an argument about naomi supposedly "getting points" stfu.
@@ChezFeroce She didn't win because she was given points, otherwise she would just have 1 game and 15-love. She earned everything else.
@@ChezFeroce are you joking you clown? any man who did what Serena did would have given many more points.
@@ChezFeroce Cry more
I'm actually crying while watching this. This poor girl. The happiest day of her life and she's apologising for it. The lady who gave her the trophy sounded so cold when she said congratulations. She deserved the win. Congratulations Naomi!
Leanne Marinus me too. I cried.
I cried too.
Me too. Though I was a fan for Williams
the umpire fucked up everything as usual!
all the respect i had for Serena goes to Naomi after that Serena has lost all respect.
naomi wasnt crying tears of joy, she was heart broken that the entire crowd was booing her, for what? she isnt even doing anything bad , she felt the intense hate from the Americans
Naomi is a CHAMPION! She deserved to have her moment!
