Very interesting information on Buckingham canal. When I used to live in Kalpakkam, I had an old lady as a maid who used to describe her journey by boat from Chennai to Sadurangapatinam(Kalpakkam). The boat used to leave Chennai at around 9pm and reach Kalpakkam the next day morning. The passengers used to even cook their dinner on the boat.

What about Hamilton’s bridge built on some river. I don’t know the name of this river. People say that boats were used to bring thins from Mamallapuram and other places bringing salt casurina woods etc etc.

12:27 completely misleading information. In reality, we have failed to preserve a lot of important things in Chennai. Royepettah 15 years ago and Royepettah today are 2 completely different neighborhoods. For example, Every single street name has been changed to something akbar street or abdul something street. Parotta shops have been changed into shawarma shops and biryani kadais.😢
