Hi there Pastor. I am an Avenged Sevenfold fan, and I am also a regular church goer. I literally had this video pop up in my list of recommendations, and I have to say, while you did talk a lot during the song, I did enjoy your reaction to the song. I don't know if this is your first time listening to Avenged Sevenfold, but I would highly recommend that you do a little bit of research into the band. While Avenged Sevenfold is not a religious band, they do take a lot of inspiration from the Bible, from their name, to their songs, to even the album titles of their first 3 album's. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (album name) is the final judgement of God during the 7 year tribulation; waking the fallen (album name and song name) I interpret as pertaining to the rapture; the bands name, Avenged Sevenfold, is drawn from God punishing Cain by sending him out into the world, and anyone that helps him out will suffer Avenged Sevenfold.
Church going Christian and avenged sevenfold fan here too. Totally agree with you, a7x draws a lot of inspiration from Christianity and the bible. They also use lots of metaphors AND perspective taking, sometimes taking the perspective of people who have rejected God which is why some songs are written such that they paint God and Christian values in a negative light. But that’s the beauty of it, taking the perspective of sinners makes their lyrics really interesting.
Pastor doesnt dip into Revelations? well, sounds like he only likes to preach what the congregation wants to hear. Revelations is the best part of the entire scripture.. understanding where sin takes a person is more interesting that what happens when a person lives scared, timid, and naive of their sins. Revelations is a completely badass story of the end, and is worthy of reading
I grew up in a very religious household as well. My grandfather was the head pastor of our church and my grandmother taught Sunday school. I always wanted an ordained pastor's reaction to this song, especially the references it makes directly to scripture in the book of Revelation. I am quite disappointed that you didn't prepare at all for a song called "Beast and the Harlot" by brushing up on your studies of that book. What else could that have possibly meant? There is so much you could have talked about! Is Babylon the Great really representing Rome, as the Pre-reformation church believed, with its' seven hills (heads of the beast)? Is it the Catholic church itself, as Seventh Day Adventists believe? What of the ten horns, representing ten kings? Revelations says that they are not actual kings, with no real kingdoms, but that they have the power of kings. You don't have to guess or assume these things. The scripture explains the metaphor pretty well, if you read it. You were so busy talking about how you don't know the research, that we didn't get a legitimate reaction to the song, either. Is this an advertisement for Babylon, or a warning? What do you think A7X was trying to get across with this song? How could a song so entrenched in biblical scripture be so successful when typically modern metal music shies away from that kind of imagery? I'm just saying, a little more thought put into this would have been appreciated. This song, this band, even, has a lot of potential for discussion from a theological standpoint.
I'm not a very religious guy but it's really nice to see religious people listen and actually try to understand and not bash it like you guys. Keep up the reactions my guys
Hey man, there are alot of people that do talk down to people that listen to rock or metal, as a religious person myself, avenged sevenfold is my favorite band, even though they aren't all Christians, I love the biblical references, and the Bible isn't as boring as people say it is, I'm not gonna push anything on you, but if you have any questions let me know
This song literally has exact passages from the bible in it. You didn't even notice that somehow. In fact a large part of it is simply lifted from bible verses in revelation
Awesome. I still enjoyed the video nonetheless! I'm gunna recommend you react to Avengeds "Exist". It's ridiculously long but it would be interesting to hear what the Pastor thinks about it
Yeah, this song was taken from Revelation. I'm not much of a religious person, but I mostly only read Revelation from the bible. The beast is supposed to reference world governments, while the harlot is supposed to reference false religion.
Marine corps? I was a doc with the Navy! Iraq in 2011-12 Awesome stuff, yeah, this band, and particularly this album, got me through a whole lot, both in high school, college and the military, I know some of these songs spook you, but they have positive religious songs too. Try em out! Like I said on, Requiem? Maybe? You got a follow out of me!
Volume is much better on this one. Creeping death by Metallica is one you might be interested in. It’s about the final plague in Egypt before the exodus.
Please listen before explaining yournpoint of view. Yes the song comes out of revelations. The part where they sang "if you want to serve above..." Was refereing to heaven, and that section actually explains a bit about redemtion.
Revelation 18-19. Beast and the Harlot is a spiritual vision that represents a real city in the future called Babylon the Great. It'll be like a "New Rome" and/or "New Babylon". Anyway, I love this band.
If the pastor could just wait until the end to give his analysis that would be so much better received. Or hat bro could pause it and you could dialogue (I’m pretty sure he didn’t say anything the whole video). I think it would also be worthwhile to have a reaction video and a separate one where you’ve actually researched instead of talking off the top of your head; you have a vid for how a song makes you FEEL and a separate for what it makes you THINK. This way those of us that want to hear what The Word says or how religious history is referenced could watch that, too, and you’ll get people that genuinely care about your analysis. Just my $0.02.
Paid For The official channel I will certainly do that. I listen to nearly all music with different filters. One other thing I think may be of value: people claim Christian Metal is/is not the work of the enemy. It would be really neat to actually hear thoughts about different Christian Metal bands’ songs as well as secular songs.
Architects “nihilist” and/or “broken cross”. Also check out the difference between “Tool” and “A perfect circle”. Pastor wouldn’t be too fond of a perfect circles “Judith”
This song particularly is about the city of Los Angeles and all the sin and corruption and poison that's in that city. And it having the glitz and glamor of being Hollywood. There is actually an interview with band mates talking about it.
Avenged Sevenfold fan since 2005 and grew up in Southern Baptist churches. Before i watch this video, this song is a telling of a chunk of Revalation. I know the song and ive read Revalation.
If you want to hear the song go watch the music or audio video, this is a *REACTION* video the point of it is to hear his reaction or commentary and last time I checked Talking is a form of *REACTING*
Serious question: "How can you possibly make an assessment of the lyrics of a song if you never hear them? If you need to make a comment, pause the video, speak, then go back to active listening. This is like doing a book report, but all you've done is look at the pictures.
A couple of them went to Catholic school and it seemed to push them away from the religion and a whole lot of there songs are taken out if the holy book.
Not reacting to the song but just talking about revelations. Not even talking about the lines sung but talks about lines he does know and remembers. Would have loved if you would pause to let your thoughts out and go back into the song and react to the song and not just react to the bible.
I believe that New Babylon is mentioned in Revelations. Also if you look at the name of the band, "Avenged Sevenfold", pretty sure that goes back to Genesis, after Cain slew Able, and God gave him the mark and sent him out to the land of Nod. Caine was afraid that anyone who found him would kill him. God said of anyone that harmed Cain, that harm would be avenged sevenfold (re-paid seven times). Paraphrasing of course. I'm no theological scholar. Or I could have totally missed it.
"this may be referring to the buuk of revelation in the bible"... no. fucking. shit. no, theyre talking about another, different beast & harlot from some other fairy tale...
Hello Pastor. I have listened to several readings and read Revelation myself a few times, and I understand there is a blessing to anybody who reads and understands it. Just give it a try sometime. Also, in response to Bankai Phoenix Reactions, you should know by now that we live in a fallen world. Any musical artist that gets super famous while on a label most likely did so because they sold their souls for fame and wealth. That's how they can make millions of dollars while quoting scripture and it's not pro-Christian. "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"
How the hell can you call this a reaction video when dude decides not to even listen to it, and instead gives a damn sermon through the whole song??? He just saw the name of the song and said "here is an opportunity to do the opposite of what you want and try to shove my own beliefs down your throat." And dude next to him doesn't look happy at all!!!!!
I don’t think the song is trying to reference any biblical scriptures. I think it’s just a song they made to describe a harlot using biblical terms “beast” “Babylon”
Hahaha hey pastor thanks for giving this a listen. I’d love to hear you try Nanking by exodus. It’s not a religious song, but a story of the Chinese. In 1937 japan invaded China and this song is an account t of that.
Semper Fi! Thank you for your service! My father was a marine, but told me he would disown me if I joined, something about being hard headed and offended by authority without reason. He was probably right. I do have issues with authority. Especially when that authority goes unchecked and bends the will of people to suit their own wishes. I am not a religious man. I lost my faith when my grandmother was taken from us by alzhiemers. What a cruel disease! I am however a Buddhist, but very far from perfect. Still, I am always respectful of others beliefs, just as long as their beliefs don't include causing harm to the innocent. That's exactly the point and time where I draw the line. Harm a child or animal in my presence, and I will have to act. Even if that means severe punishment under the laws of man. Apologies. I got distracted by the news in the background. My mother watches the news 24/7, so even though I try to block it out, I am in a rage over the slaughter of all these innocent children. I don't even have any kids, but this thing is so horrific that it has me in tears. Literally breaking down and crying. This is a new feeling for me. I very rarely cry. I can tell you that I cried when I lost my grandma, her name was Nettie. My grandpa, his name was Carlos. My Pops, his name Freeman. My little brother Jason, who was also my best friend. I couldn't cry during that madness. I had to make sure the rest of the family kept it together, at least until after the funeral. That was the most painful two weeks of my life. It wasn't until I got my mom on the flight back home, and as I was driving home, Imagine by John Lennon played on the radio. I ended up getting a ticket for parking on the side of 101. I had to pull over. I would've wrecked and maybe killed someone. After that, I didn't listen to any music, or play my guitar because we played together whenever we were together, and if we weren't playing guitar, we were listening to music. He was a brilliant guitar player, and was taking jazz at University of San Jose when he drowned. When he was 9, and I was 14, he got interested in guitar, as I had just bought one and was learning how to play, and of course I was an asshole then and wouldn't let him even touch it. Then one day I caught him in my room playing my guitar! I wanted to be pissed, but then I realized how long his fingers were, I'd just never noticed. We had different fathers. His father gifted him with fingers that were made to play piano/guitar. My father gifted me with hands that were made to build and repair things. I couldn't afford a piano, we were poor. But, for his 10th birthday, I did get him a cheap used guitar and amp from the same pawn shop that I got mine from. It was cheap, but sounded pretty good. He was so thrilled to have his own. I taught him four chords. After a few months he was better than me! I never caught up with him, but he taught me much. And he always pushed me to play more. I really miss that kid. He was 33, but still my kid brother. But even though I loved them all dearly, I was confused about the fact that it took awhile before I actually cried. It was over a year after pop's died. Something that surprised me when I was a young man though, one of my best friends Scott and I went to every rock/metal concert that came any where close to us. We had seen OZZY and Metallica Master of Puppets tour together. That was July 86, in September called me and told me that Cliff Burton was killed when their tour bus crashed. I cried right then. Strange, how someone I'd never met before had such an impact on me. If you're still reading this, then thank you for letting me vent and release my angst. This is the only form of therapy that I have. Be safe out there!
I've actually followed through the lyrics of this song during a Bible study of the part of Revelations that this song pulls from. The song follows Revelations almost beat for beat, it's really close.
God, these comments are so cringe. If you're triggered by him talking over the music, go watch a music video first. I know the song well, and am just interested in what he has to say about it. If you are here just to listen to the song, then go to a different video.
so call it what it is then so people who want to listen to this will beacuse hes not reacting to a song, hes talking about lyrics thats all. hes discussing lyrics to a song. im not hear to listen to a song but to see someones reaction to the music which you get none of here. i would have happily gone to another video instead if this was properly titled.
all their songs have a deep connection to the bible that those who never touched the book would never understand... lol their name itself is from the bible the story of cain.
Sound the seventh trumpets is a reference and their best record. And the first release check it out that whole avenge record is good. ruclips.net/video/E146vYxSNwY/видео.html
"There's references to this, I think in the prophets." Dude, some of these lines are DIRECT QUOTES from Revelation. What are you doing with your life if you're a pastor and don't recognize direct Biblical quotes? What kind of Christianity doesn't know the Bible? The entire "destroyed in an hour" part, the filthy birds, the pearls, etc, all of this is straight from Revelation (the whore of Babylon). Here, since you don't like Revelation, I'll give you some wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whore_of_Babylon#Passages_from_Revelation EDIt- Okay, near the end of the song you seem to come to your senses and remember this stuff is directly from Revelation. Maybe your memory was jogged, or maybe your talking made you miss some of the lyrics. I don't know, but much of this was damn near a direct quote from Revelation.
Can he not talk over the song the ENTIRE time? The people who are going to watch this are likely going to be A7X fans and if they're anything like me, are going to be super annoyed. It's not just that I can't focus on the song, I also can't bother to hear what he's even saying because I'm to interested in hearing the song. Keep your commentary for post-song.
The ending of Revelation is really good for Christians. It’s the middle that is awful for us though. At the end, God wins and Jerusalem is rebuilt and everyone lives there happily
Jacob Baker I'm familiar with the book, I was forced to read the bible many times through growing up, I simply asked why someone who doesn't like or "understand" something should be teaching others about it?
It's sad to see a bunch of people spazzing out about the fact that this dude is talking over the solos. I think it's neat for someone to put the lyrical content in comparison to theology and literature. He uses the solos, which have no lyrical content, to discuss what's being said and where it might come from. If you're really that butthurt about the solos being talked over, listen to the fucking song yourself. There's like a million HQ uploads of it. He's a pastor, not a composer or a musician. Get over it, nerds.
Honestly, if you really believe in the Bible, it's pretty foolish to avoid the book of Revelations. It would like being unprepared as "the Son of Man comes like a thief in the night," or the five foolish virgins who decided not to take oil with them (Matt 25: 1-13). I'm not even Christian and I know all of this stuff. What is going on here?
To understand revelation read Daniel it goes hand and hand the song references revelation anyone who says other wise is ignorant of the bible read revelations and then listen you'll see it
He didnt even react to it. After 5 mins of him talkin..."we're done!?" You guys need to listen. Pause the video. Speake your mind. Repeat. Press play, so you can get an actual idea of what theyre tryin to do lol
People can’t fucking realize that these videos are supposed to have religion in it, he’s supposed to say the meaning of the songs, go watch some other reaction if you don’t fucking like it, obviously y’all knew he was gonna talk about the religious part of the song, the band used to be religious for fuck’s sake.
you guys should pause instead of trying to get your point across in the middle of the song, I wouldnt mind
eduardo vargas yeah we plan on doing that in future videos.
awesome :) its really interesting to see listen to your point of view from the religious knowledge you guys have, keep it up.
Beast and the harlot still gets played on the radio to this day lol. Not everyone wants to listen to formulaic pop shit all day believe it or not
Exactly lol
What are you trying to say?
Man he talk right through the solo. Thats a cardinal sin.
He's damned and I don't even beleive in god
Ye rly true...
💯nailed it
This song taken straight from Revelation 17. Another song by Avenged Sevenfold that's taken directly from the Bible is Chapter Four.
Icepick94 that is coming soon, stay tuned:)
Holden Mcgroine yeah, and their name comes from Genesis Chapter 4 verse 15
The chorus part is from Revelation 18
@Holden Mcgroine The title isn't very subtle, to be honest.
Yes in the Bible babylon was a whore
The whole album is based on the book of revelation exept maybe bat country
Betrayed is about Dimebag's death
and Bat Country is about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Bat Country is about the Rev's opioid addiction
HalfEatenDog *69 no it's not
man iPreferChicken just listen to the lyrics. If you know what opioids do, you can clearly see thats what its about

one advice.
pause the video when make a comment or point out the fact about content of the video.
Says he doesnt read revelations, then continues to talk about revelations
xd
Ethan Hugare for real!! Bald guy won't stop talking.. just shut up and react
The guy to the left is not even listening to the song. What's the point of making a reaction video if he doesn't even listen hahah....
I grew up in a very religious household as well. My grandfather was the head pastor of our church and my grandmother taught Sunday school. I always wanted an ordained pastor's reaction to this song, especially the references it makes directly to scripture in the book of Revelation.

I'm just saying, a little more thought put into this would have been appreciated. This song, this band, even, has a lot of potential for discussion from a theological standpoint.
Tbf you put a lot more thought into the Bible than most Christians (as you should) most people around where I grew up read it all as literal
I know you didn’t hear half the things he said, this song is to fire to listen to him 😂
I'm not a very religious guy but it's really nice to see religious people listen and actually try to understand and not bash it like you guys. Keep up the reactions my guys

Another one from this album "The wicked end"
Rob Navarro that’s uploaded on our channel
He talks to much, I guess it's his job.
Straight facks boi
@@lostcaustic9404 I was legit interested in hearing a religious input on this but dude likes to babble
Chapter Four Avenged Sevenfold
It can't be only me that was frustrated watching him talk OVER THE WHOLE SOLO.
We plan to stop this in future videos.
Awesome. I still enjoyed the video nonetheless!
I'm gunna recommend you react to Avengeds "Exist". It's ridiculously long but it would be interesting to hear what the Pastor thinks about it
You mean the whole SONG lmao
Yeah, this song was taken from Revelation. I'm not much of a religious person, but I mostly only read Revelation from the bible. The beast is supposed to reference world governments, while the harlot is supposed to reference false religion.
They use a shorter version for the radio
My local station plays the whole song regularly.

Geez, this guy. Pipe down.
Mirage 51 my wife says the same thing...
React to a little piece of heaven by them
Rob Navarro Don't encourage this nonsense. This guy is the reason most turn from Christianity. Too judgemental and closed minded.
Saint Sacrifice People turned from Christianity because they want to. Not because of your reasoning.
Jd Dehl Cool
The Pastor would lose his shit!!! Guarantee the title would make him think OK but the actual song!!! LMFAO!!!!
Rob Navarro i completely support this idea 10000%
Revelation 18-19. Beast and the Harlot is a spiritual vision that represents a real city in the future called Babylon the Great. It'll be like a "New Rome" and/or "New Babylon". Anyway, I love this band.
I don’t like church to any extent but you seem like a cool chill pastor that doesn’t judge so I have no problem with you being religious
Shadow_ Playz thanks, I think we are getting better at doing this!
“Crossroads” by Avenged Sevenfold
joey chrobak it’s coming soon
We have it on our channel
That awkward moment when this song was played on the radio non stop when it first came out haha
Jordan Dougherty yup, I was wrong about that
I believe the song is about comparing Hollywood to the fall of Babylon
🤟🏻👍🏻

Tou should do Holy War by Thy Art Is Murder. I would love to hear the commentary on that.
UnknowNgaminG 14 or holy wars the punishment due by megadeth. thats the better holy wars
Todd Davis but Thy Art Is Murder has a shock factor to it and is more intense.

Pretty much any Slayer song would bring a good reaction from these guys
Plz dude stop talking during the song you talk wayyyyy too much
Spiros Vitsos talked the whole time like he’s all educated on religion. Talked over the whole solo and just have a speech about religion
Spiros Vitsos ikr does this dude not care at all about musicality and only listen to lyrics?
"this may be referring to the buuk of revelation in the bible"... no. fucking. shit. no, theyre talking about another, different beast & harlot from some other fairy tale...

Why didn't he stop talking and listen
I've actually followed through the lyrics of this song during a Bible study of the part of Revelations that this song pulls from. The song follows Revelations almost beat for beat, it's really close.
Did you guys already do little peice of heaven already?
Its about the city of Babylon. They say it right in the chorus
Jokes on you, this was on the radio.
I'm surprised he didn't seem to notice they were talking about Babylon
This is like how not to do a reaction video ahaha
Sound the seventh trumpets is a reference and their best record. And the first release check it out that whole avenge record is good. ruclips.net/video/E146vYxSNwY/видео.html
this is not reaction..
Hafiz Jumat this was horrible...
It's almost a breakdown of the lyrics
"There's references to this, I think in the prophets." Dude, some of these lines are DIRECT QUOTES from Revelation. What are you doing with your life if you're a pastor and don't recognize direct Biblical quotes? What kind of Christianity doesn't know the Bible? The entire "destroyed in an hour" part, the filthy birds, the pearls, etc, all of this is straight from Revelation (the whore of Babylon). Here, since you don't like Revelation, I'll give you some wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whore_of_Babylon#Passages_from_Revelation
EDIt- Okay, near the end of the song you seem to come to your senses and remember this stuff is directly from Revelation. Maybe your memory was jogged, or maybe your talking made you miss some of the lyrics. I don't know, but much of this was damn near a direct quote from Revelation.
Funny you say that, because it is on the radio lol
Can he not talk over the song the ENTIRE time? The people who are going to watch this are likely going to be A7X fans and if they're anything like me, are going to be super annoyed. It's not just that I can't focus on the song, I also can't bother to hear what he's even saying because I'm to interested in hearing the song. Keep your commentary for post-song.
this should be call pastor reacts to the lyrics of beast and the harlot while talking over the entire song
Darkness within by machinehead! It’s a song about how music is religion
You should have a rabbi react to creeping death by metallica
hillary's pantsuit I actually know one so we will get to work on that
Paid For The official channel haha that sounds like it will be awesome brother
Wisdom came right out of your mouth buddy, that would be great
You try to stay away from revelations? How can you preach about a book that you don't even like the ending to?
I meant as far as attempting to explain it fully as there are many mysterious parts. Good point, though, I need to study it more!
I understand and completely agree with you on that point. Only one who is well versed in any subject should be the teacher in that subject.
Priests are actually required to learn the whole bible cover to back.
Haven't met too many religious and married men not wear their wedding ring.
he couldn't just keep his damn mouth shut for a sec and pay attention to the lyrics.
They should make a reaction video of him shutting the fuck up!
Hell yeah they are REVing up
fuck
It's sad to see a bunch of people spazzing out about the fact that this dude is talking over the solos. I think it's neat for someone to put the lyrical content in comparison to theology and literature. He uses the solos, which have no lyrical content, to discuss what's being said and where it might come from. If you're really that butthurt about the solos being talked over, listen to the fucking song yourself. There's like a million HQ uploads of it. He's a pastor, not a composer or a musician. Get over it, nerds.
A little advice from me, when guitar solo please stop talking and enjoy the solo
the green screen detects the mic.
man iPreferChicken by design, is it distracting?
not at all, it's kinda funny actually.
You were a broadcaster in the Marine Corps?
That explains a lot lmao fuckin pog
A pastor that avoids revelation does a disservice to his congregation
Pastor: "I stay away from the book of revelations."
Me: *loves the book of revelations*
Honestly if you're a true believer, staying away from the book of revelations is like being the virgins who didn't trim their wicks.
My dude with the hat looks so done LMAOOOOOO
Maaaaan this guy talks for days 😤😂 he was talking homies ear off smh 😂
I love Jesus too, brotha! And avenged!😈👌
shoulda played "God Hates US - A7X" infromnt of him
EDIT: please react to this song
xSSwiizYYx we did
OOOF
gotta watch that
People can’t fucking realize that these videos are supposed to have religion in it, he’s supposed to say the meaning of the songs, go watch some other reaction if you don’t fucking like it, obviously y’all knew he was gonna talk about the religious part of the song, the band used to be religious for fuck’s sake.
It’s comparing the fall of Babylon to Hollywood
He's not really reacting. He's blabbing.
Listen to Wicked end by them it's about the 2nd coming you will enjoy that one.
I thought this was a music reaction not a religion lecture
Speaking and talking OVER that great solo...dude...so disappointed
Lavitz exactely what i was thinking... i was like STOP TALKING AND LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG😂
THROUGH THE DRUMING same 🤣🤣🤣
This song was on the radio for 4 years..............
We love Jesus! I love that part :)
please react to Type O Negative - "Fuck You, God" thanks in advance
eta: or Slayer - "God Hates Us All"
I heard Avenged Sevenfold still gets played on the radio.
The dude on the right is so upset that he’s ruining the entire song lmfao
And after reading other comments after mine I realize everyone else feels the same
Everything but the last line is straight out of the book of Revelation
I believe the song is referencing ancient Babylon
