The thing about kettles being the main source of TV pickup is a bit of a myth. The biggest source is surprisingly from the massive number of toilets being flushed simultaneously (because everyone had been holding it in till after the match/tv show finished), which requires water pumping stations to come online to maintain pressure in the water mains. Another source that outstrips the kettles is from the number of fridges being opened (presumably to get milk for the tea), which then warm up slightly resulting in the compressor kicking in to cool everything back down

In reference to the tidal road in France, there's also one off the coast of Northumberland in England that temporarily connects Lindisfarne (colloquially known as Holy Island) to the mainland. The road is so long and the tides rise with such speed that there are safety huts spread across the road for anyone that gets stranded, the official policy from the local government is to just wait it out (barring stormy weather conditions).

You should look at Dinorwig Power Station -- it's a giant lake at the top of a mountain in wales that they pump water into to release huge emergency power when it's needed. One of the main uses that it gets is to specifically deal with Tea Time power surges.
Also Emu is pronounced Ē-Mew, not E-Moo (which is how you pronounced it).
Also, if you didn't know a long line above a letter means it's a long Sound.
You could talk about the physics of paint drying and I'd still watch it and find it interesting (I'd also skip through the skillshare bit)

I did drive through Le Passage du Gois, and it's both fun and beautiful. There are many stories about cars that were trapped in the tide and lost to the sea
On the British turning on there kettles at the same time thing, this is still a issue, although significantly lesser than previously. At The National Grid Control centre they actually have TV's specifically used to monitor British Soap tv shows on significant episodes as to cue up switching to a new power source to keep the power going strong and stable.
