Great recap! I'm not a fan of the Serena redemption story arc. So she didn't understand how bad being a handmaid was until it happened to her? She's directly responsible for the deaths of thousands, she was ruthless to June and now after giving birth to a baby we're supposed to feel sorry for her? She's just going through what every handmaid went through. Sorry if I don't feel any sympathy for her.
don’t worry, i think karma might just start coming for her… this is just a beginning.

I can never wrap my mind around the women like Serena. She was educated, accomplished, driven but advocated for time to turn back and women treated like less than 2nd class citizens I just don't get it
Because she thought she was special and the rules wouldn’t apply to her. She soon found out she was wrong.
I also don't understand why she was sad that Fred died...he had her finger cut off for reading the Bible, and brutally whipped her with a belt...not to mention all the times he cheated on her. He could have given her an STD after all his escapades at Jezebel's.
You just only have to look at what's happening in the US and the massive support from women against women's right because of religion or a false sense of piety. Smart people do stupid things all the time and people are easily manipulated, sadly.
@@coinopanimatoryes it is pretty sick that many women have been convinced that they are in control of their own bodies, when in fact they are giving up control to drug corps. And the government. Just because those in power tell you it's ok, doesn't make it ok. This show clearly shows what can happen.
June looked around and noticed that people were moving and houses were for sale/rent before the truck hit her. People were leaving the neighborhood. That’s what she was noticing.

Great recap, thank you, I learned a few things that I had missed. One thing from episode 10 that puzzles me- June is a smart woman who has survived many attempts to kill her. So why in the world did she remain on the street, running in a straight line as the truck was barreling towards her? Why not get off the street, hide behind a tree, run in a zig zag pattern, etc???
I’ve never watched this show but it depends on the distance between the car and June and how fast the car was going, if it was going just fast enough, and June even slightly didn’t run completely straight, the speed/distance would be too little and it’d catch up with her and she’d be hit
@@noellefritz5678 I see your point, however I think she would have been less likely to have been run over if she had jumped behind a tree or a fence.
Really bad writing IMO 😕 These later seasons were lacking and just not as well written as earlier seasons.

I felt that the final episodes failed to keep up with the development of the entire season.
Disappointing, it was so interesting making the tension grow until ep 8 and they end up ruining it in the end.
Seeing the whole season together is easier to notice

Lawrence acts like its no big deal about Esther because he's making a point to stupid Lydia, that what? Now she wants to draw the line?! Its ridiculous for her to come and complain about that and not know that these geezers are raping the girls all the time, period.

I don’t think serena loved Fred for a long time as she was far more intelligent & knew what a creep he was , yet I sill find it so hard to ever forgive serena as she knew Fred was a monster & took it out on June . I still don’t trust serena as she did so much to promote Gilliead

The writing in this show just makes absolutely no sense. Luke getting arrested for "assaulting a guy... a guy who they see run June over with a car and runs up to her with a shot gun. Yeah that's not assault. Do these writers not understand basic laws?
The important bit is that Luke is a refugee. A refugee that is a large part of Canada including I'm guessing politicians don't want and hate. When you view it through the lens of how minorities in those situations are treated its a lot more realistic.
i always interupted that the severed finger was June avenging Serena because Fred cut off Serenas finger

Oh my God June and Serena has so much potential to go from like enemies to the biggest allies. They are both influential women which is something that Gilead fears and now they’ve gone through similar situations and shared experience that could allow them to truly bond.

Why would anybody support Serena?
Because she is too stupid to realize the people she was supporting were not there to help her; you almost feel sorry for her being this delusional. Sort of like real life; where people follow cult like leaders; not realizing that their leaders don’t have their best interests at heart.
I don’t think anyone supports her, I think it’s more that they feel some empathy for her now. I admit, it’s hard to have empathy for her. But with her becoming a real mother her character arc has made viewers believe that she regrets her decisions. I think she is beginning to see the horror of her helping create Gilead, the reality of it means that she isn’t safe without a husband. The fact that Gilead knows she can carry a child to full term makes her a double target for Gilead.
I feel like Sirena has true remorse for what she did through out the season she begins to show a actual change I believe her living with the Wheelers actually forced her to feel how the Handmaids felt under the oppress system of Gilead I feel Serena storyline shows that once you experience true freedom your mind will never be the same again I feel like the death of Fred was a symbol of the death of her old self I feel that moment when June helped her in the barn force Serena, to see the good in June I think the writing in this show is completely genius I don’t think the show is written for us to forget what Serena did but it’s to teach the us forgiveness of others when they do us wrong I also feel as if the show wants us to give Serena pitty and sorrow for her rather than pitty for the person she truly is I personally feel thats what the show was going for we will see in season 6 if it’s a façade, or if Serena truly changed … this season really really points towards forgiveness and change of others. I think it’s cool because we see characters development we see people change like Aunt Lydia, we’ve seen Naomi have a humble heart and we are even starting to see Commander Lawrence began to turn more into a villain rather than a vigilantly I feel like, the more the seasons progress, the more of the characters attitudes would change based on the environment around them

Aunt Lydia’s got two handmaids writhing on the ground and their faces covered in blood and Lydia looks at her hand and we see her hand holding an electric cattle prod, a Handmaid’s hand over fire, then we see that electric prod again, and then…Aunt Lydia swims back to reality and (it’s weird that they can’t tell time but, let’s let that one go, like we let everything with this show go, and Aunt Lydia is now pretty upset-since she KNOWS that SHE didn’t do anything to them…wtf?🤣 (I actually kinda❤this show although I refuse to rewatch it a second time so I will see you later, and check your channel out generally speaking!)

Exactly! The actress who plays Esther had a surgery on her spine to correct her scoliosis and she will be fine. Still, they did a terrible job of handling it in that these writers, they aren’t the people who tied up breaking bad or dark, but they *knew* about it far enough in advance to write SOME-thing. Pathetic to merely let her disappear without any of the characters talking about her. Grrrrrr.

This season was a mess IMO. They built it all up for nothing to really happen. Well not nothing, June got more people killed because she is selfish. The whole hit by the truck thing had my LMAO. Why on earth are you walking down the middle of the road when you CLEARLY see a truck coming your way, following you? What a shame because the over all story was so good.

I've never watched or read the books but I just saw all the recaps to the seasons. Wow now I know what the hype is all about. Those poor women....I would for sure be dead first season or first 5 minutes of that shit show of a country.😬

Serena saved June's life and Luke was a jerk to seek revenge and call the Cops. June wants to help All women and children.
But he doesn't know that! The last conversation they had was about how they both don't know if they would be able to stop themselves from killing her. He doesn't have the same perspective that we do. You're talking about a man whose felt extremely helpless for 7 years. Of course he is going to jump at the chance of justice.
People like her are the reason Hannah isn't safe and she flaunted that in everyone's face at that funeral so Luke doesn't owe Serena shit. Especially common decency. June didn't even want to help Serena, she wanted to help Noah.

Loved the show up until ep 1 season 5 when she picked her child up covered in blood and then ate with blood all over instead of cleaning up. For me that made me sick and shouldn't of been in this show!

5 seasons. 5! And only now getting the ball running on doing something. Jesus. Glad GF and I stopped that BS at s03. This show should have wrapped up by now, s1-2 showing the awfull country, character development, 2-3 setting up revolution, 4-5 showcasing neat tricks to resist an authoritative regime and organization, and s05 success and a time skip of, "we did better, and what we did to make sure this F*uckery never happens again." If I wanted a feels secession I would listen to Lana del Rey and the carpenters, not 4 seasons of the same depression kitty drudgery, without a clear objective. Jesus they had no overall plan for this show.
It's a recap.... ten minutes or less. who is going to watch an hour...
