This misses the epilogue, which takes place at a conference studying the history Gilead (decades after it fell). It is revealed the 'Handmaid's Tale' was recorded on cassette tapes and it is unclear whether these represent an actual woman's life or are fictitious. There is a tentative identification of Fred and it is revealed almost all the 'Commanders' were infertile through exposure to radiation.

We voted for the United States to be reformed into an autocratic INGSOC-like government (Orwell's "1984") and a "Brave New World"-like (Aldus Huxley) society.
American society is now ran by manipulative propaganda, conditioned polarization, conditioned hatred, racism and discrimination, misogyny, and the admiration for autocratic/dictative power.

It's not one I wanted to read again.

I'm a strong believer in phonics, and it's true that G followed by I or E is sometimes pronounced like J, as in gentle or giant. But there are always exceptions, such as girl. And, according to everything I've ever heard (until this video) or can find online, Gilead is such an exception. The G is hard. The first syllable of Gilead is pronounced like gill, the breathing organ of a fish, not Jill, the feminine name. (Gilead IS pronounced with a hard G ONCE, at 6:08, but all the others are soft G--how did that one hard G make it in?)
