I like how Matt Reeves' Gotham City is a good blend between Burton's gothic, claustrophobic Gotham and Nolan's and Snyder's much more realistic Gotham. It's a great blend of the two. Realistic enough for it to exist in real life, yet gothic and dark enough for it to rightfully bear the name of Gotham City. Bruce's room in Wayne Tower is a perfect example of how it should always look. My favorite will always be Burton's, though. That cathedral is too iconic.
Joel Schumacher’s Gotham from Batman Forever is heavily slept on. It’s so vibrant and beautiful while retaining the dark and grimness of Burtons. It has beautiful architecture and makes great use of miniatures with amazing set design.
The game Gotham Knights did an amazing job of making the city feel like a real-life lived-in city, but also in certain burrows have the old gothic architecture of the comics.
Another great video my friend schizo =) Gotham city with all its different depictions throughout the movies / games is definitely one of the most appealing yet creepy settings to see on screen. Here is my list of favourite 5 gotham city depictions with reasons : 1. Batman Arkham asylum game's gotham . Although the setting in this game was done beautifully , it is mainly on arkham island where you only get to see gotham from a wide angle with Wayne enterprises building towering above the other buildings. This is why it is at the bottom of my list. 2. Batman Arkham city game's gotham . In this game batman gets to free roam the city fighting thugs and making discoveries in the shady alleyways. Additionally, when standing on high ground such as viewing the city from wonder tower, you can see that there is barely any illumination around the buildings apart from the billboards and ace chemicals. Batman is portrayed as the ultimate hero who stands above to watch over his burning hateful city he had swore to protect and for a second there everything just seems to be telling Batman to give up. 3. Tim Burton's gotham in Batman 1989. Simply put, old is gold. All of the other gothams were based on this version of the city. Despite the inferior tools and resources that were available back then, the movie makers managed to deliver the place as a chaotic and ruthless one. The lack of lighting in some of the scenes also served this purpose beautifully. I believe this is the origin of where all the sequential movies / games will relate to. 4. Batman Arkham origins game. While playing this game , the player again gets to wander around gotham like Arkham city but with creepy christmas music playing in the background. To be even more sinister , it is timed at christmas eve in the middle of the winter where it is cold and snowy. In my opinion, this adds to the fear of the citizens as snow blocks light, as if there was any. That and the fact that insane criminals enjoy ruining people's special occasions and what could be a better time to spread fear and anarchy than christmas. 5. Gotham TV show's gotham city. I have to tell you this is my favourite of them all. It surpasses every other due to a number of reasons. Throughout the series in between the scenes, the city is shot wide-angle shots from above and yet a lot of details are displayed. Cloudy skies blocking the sun , not once in the show there is sunlight and personally I think this symbolizes that the place is rotten with scumbags due to being dark and humid most of the time. Smoke fumes coming from chimneys again blocking any source of illumination. The alleyways are narrow , moist, dark and claustrophobic and confined between buildings that have sharp corners, ugly looking gargoyles and also appear to be deserted. Light from poles reflects on the city's streets that are somewhat wet all the time also adds to the dark display at night. Not to mention that the only well lit places are the nightclubs whether it's the billboards or indoors, where the crime families gather to discuss " business " . At a certain scene of the main characters takes a look around when he sees people mugging , taking bribes, bullying , stealing and running , he laughs and says " HOME "
Thanks Ayman! Some excellent choices there. I never got into the Gotham TV series but maybe I need to give it another try. Especially if it has depicted the city so well. Thanks for watching. Best regards, Schizofenik
I can't quite sum up a Top 5 list but among my fave iterations of Gotham are Snyder's Gotham, Burton's Gotham, the iconic animated series, the Gotham TV show and the Arkham games. The Gotham TV show and Arkham games are my current faves as they both feel like a blend of real city with extreme gothic dark deco of Burton and DCAU.
It's timeless. Modern technology with skins designed in the art deco era. I for one would love to have a modern car that on the outside looks like a 1930s roadster. Or a computer case that looks like it's from the 1920s.
I love the Arkham Games. I wish Gotham looked more like it did in Arkham City with the tall skyscrapers than in Arkham Knight with 3 islands, but still that game is gorgeous nonetheless 🤘
Hell yeah, knight’s Gotham was gorgeous and very intimidating but, the concept of city’s Gotham in the background looked enormous and utterly terrifying, making me want to explore the gigantic aspect of Gotham if that makes sense
But the part we could explore (in City) had a weird scale that seemed totally alien to the background Gotham and cities in general. I found it immersion breaking.
I love the Arkham games, but in Arkham Knight the overall Template of Gotham City makes it the worst depiction of Gotham I’ve ever seen. The buildings and architecture are on point, but the overall temple and size make it look like one of those Massive Lego Sets that you’ll often see in a convention.
I think all of the best versions of Gotham lean into its surreal aspects which the top 3 do, but the Nolan and Snyder versions don't. I think trying to make it into a more realistic city doesn't really work.
I agree. I feel that the Nolan trilogy felt too much like a slightly altered New York or Chicago. Snyder did a slight better job but also has the same flaws.
If there's something to agree on, its that no one can agree on a solid look, but all could agree on a specific look that gives the best of all the world designs people want. Gotham, people forget is still an applicable city. It didn't just go straight to Renaissance gothic church buildings, there was gregorian gothic, gothic revival, neo classical, art deco, streamlined, and 1890's art deco which is mostly unknown by the general public just like the wide array of automobiles in 1900.
Live action Gothams ranked: 6. Schumacher Gotham (Good interior sets, but the city feels too much like a play set, and excessive neon colors do not define Gotham. 5. Snyder Gotham (Great detail, too little time) 4. TDK/R Gotham (I like TDKR Gotham more than TDK’s, but TDK especially feels too much like New York. 3/2. Pattison/Nolan BB Gotham (Nolan’s Gotham is the definitive version, wish he remained a little faithful to it for TDK. Pattison Gotham is perfect symbolism with the rain, steam, mud, and litter, architected a little like Burton’s and Nolan’s, and the Iceberg Lounge is a slight reference to Schumacher Gotham with the subtle neon lights.) 1. Tim Burton’s Gotham (If he made his third film, Gotham could have finally been a complete unique city.)
My personal two favorite versions of Gotham City are both the Tim Burton and the Joel Schumacher renditions (Yes, including the 1997 Batman & Robin movie's Gotham) as they are to me the most colorful and Gothic depictions of Gotham I have ever seen seen put to the silver-screen. I like the Gothic and dirty look of Burton's Gotham City but I also like the neon blacklight visuals of Schumacher's Gotham City too equally. I have nothing against the Zach Snyder or Christopher Nolan versions of Gotham City but I will say they are just a trifle too cold, technical, bland Post-9/11 modern for me though. But hey that's just my opinion!
In my eyes As far as live action goes Batman begins is the best gotham And burtons Gotham is really great but I feel it doesn’t get explored enough Animated series Gotham is brilliant But the best Gotham is in Arkham city
Im not sure why your videos arent getting as many views as they should, but if I may make another suggestion it would be that your audio sounds very boomy/echoey. You may consider revamping the audio production. You obviously have good graphical/video editing skills. Also, you may consider more "clickbaity" titles that are less dry/mechanical. Keep it up bro.
Thanks for the feedback I do appreciate that. Yes the audio has always been the most challenging aspect of the production for me. In fact I deleted a lot of my older videos because I was so embarrassed at the poor quality of the audio. I have made some improvements but I still have a way to go. Although I do not have access to a recording studio I might be getting my own mixer soon. Hopefully, that will improve things further. Best regards, Schizofenik
My two favorite versions of Gotham City are the animated series and the Gotham tv series on Fox. The only thing restricting Gotham on Fox from being 100% perfect was the fact that they had a limited tv budget and time constraints. I’m so specific about how Gotham is depicted and Gotham on Fox got it right. The second half of season 2 was when they really hit the mark. Burton’s Gotham is my second favorite because it just doesn’t feel like it would be a real city. Especially in Batman Returns. I prefer Gotham in the first Batman movie better than Batman Returns. I honestly hate Gotham in Arkham Knight. It’s not Gotham to me. At all. Arkham Origins and Arkham City, however. Amazing.
I liked the city in that show as well. My only complaint about the TV show Gotham was that the police didn't use blimps like they did in the Animated Series. At least there was one episode where a blimp was a major plot element, so they gave it a hat tip.
Although his movies sucked, I do like Schumacher's neon cyberpunk Gotham City. Certainly not as iconic as the dark deco of Burton's movies, but still unique in its own way.
Incoherent order. If Burton's is first the videogame Gotham should be second. It's heavily inspired by Burton's and carries the exact same elements. This is far better than dark deco. Nolan's Gotham to me comes last.
My personal favorite depiction of Gotham will always be Tim Burton's. It's so gothic and dirty.
You and I both my friend.
Thank you for watching & commenting.

Seconded.
Gotham in 'The Batman' is similar. Slightly more realistic but had a lot of burton esque details. Best Gotham since 89
One of my favorites is the gotham in Lego Batman 2 thats a pretty good one
It was also incredibly small.
DC content has a lot of potential and u just unlocked it. This video is very creative and I love the editing style keep it up :)
I appreciate that and I am glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for watching.

My favorite is the new Batman. The look is despicable yet realistic to a burnt out city trying to revive itself
My favorite Gotham is the Arkham Series. Such a Masterpiece Series.
I agreed.

Nah Snyder sucks
Totally agree! Burton's Gotham is my favourite also.
Gotham is strange. It's like the 1920s and the 2030s combined.
The whole world of Batman is strange.
It's timeless. Modern technology with skins designed in the art deco era. I for one would love to have a modern car that on the outside looks like a 1930s roadster. Or a computer case that looks like it's from the 1920s.
Congratulations on nearly 10k subs
Tim Burton’s and Anton Furst’s version of Gotham is my all time favourite.
Deserves way more views, great video
Burton's Batman Akrhamverse take place in an ambiguous time period, where Gotham is a cross between 1930's New York to modern New York.
I wish rockstar would collab GTA and Gotham city already😩
I love the Arkham Games. I wish Gotham looked more like it did in Arkham City with the tall skyscrapers than in Arkham Knight with 3 islands, but still that game is gorgeous nonetheless 🤘
Hell yeah, knight’s Gotham was gorgeous and very intimidating but, the concept of city’s Gotham in the background looked enormous and utterly terrifying, making me want to explore the gigantic aspect of Gotham if that makes sense
City's Gotham felt a lot closer to BTAS with all those tall skyscrapers in the distance.
But the part we could explore (in City) had a weird scale that seemed totally alien to the background Gotham and cities in general. I found it immersion breaking.

do not forget about BEAUX-ART reference into arkham series! that appears along with art decoe elements often.
Would definitely live there if it existed, my kind of scenery, dark and evil, I love it😈
Can you please do the guide of Wayne Enterprises, like the one with Gotham City and the location and districts of Gotham city
1.
Batman Returns
2.
Joker
3.
Birds of Prey And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
4.
The Batman
5.
Batman Begins
Naah Batman 1989 and return top 2.

I like Arkham knights version of Gotham it’s very dark and super mysterious

I actually do like Matt Reeves's Gotham City as well
In my eyes
As far as live action goes
Batman begins is the best gotham

Animated series Gotham is brilliant
But the best Gotham is in Arkham city

I like the Burton version followed by the Arkham games version.
I wish everyone could agree on one version of gotham and it would the official one. (I vote for the burton version).
If I had to choice between going to Gotham or Hell, I'd take the safer option and go to Hell.
Matt Reeves new Gotham is very much like Burton's.
Very different.
1. Burton's Gotham
2. 90s animated series Gotham
3. Reeves Gotham
4. Nolan's Gotham
5. Gotham series Gotham
6. Snyder's Gotham
My Top two favorites are Fox's GOTHAM AND BURTON'S GOTHAM

@@RCAvhstape They didn’t have the budget for all that. 😂
Burton and Nolan
My top 5 would be
1. Burtonverse
2. Arkhamverse
3. Lego Batman the videogame (Inspired by Burtonverse)
4. Gotham (TV Series)
5. BTAS
Joel Schumacher's gotham
Although his movies sucked, I do like Schumacher's neon cyberpunk Gotham City. Certainly not as iconic as the dark deco of Burton's movies, but still unique in its own way.
Had to immediately turn it off because of the Snyder praise… to even claim that he had a vision is disrespectful to the entire medium of film
Incoherent order. If Burton's is first the videogame Gotham should be second. It's heavily inspired by Burton's and carries the exact same elements. This is far better than dark deco. Nolan's Gotham to me comes last.
For me Nolans is the most Generic. I could not say the difference between Spidermans and Batmans City differents
you didnt just deliberately include nolan's shitty gotham on the list instead of the one from the tv show... what a joke move...
