My grandparents bought a couple of those in the early 70s right after they first came out, and they were super quiet. My mom and dad had a Philco that was just as quiet as they were
Great video! Is there anyway you'd be able to provide the dimensions of the filter? Asking for a friend and needing to get a replacement one that has a similar frame structure and mesh material. Previous "replacement" ones used were a 1/8 inch carbon filter and a regular house filter placed in front of the intake with the case off, which in both cases didn't allow enough air flow resulting in freeze up.
These were still decent units, probably a Matsushita compressor I believe they still used Westinghouse fan motors though, I had one just like it 20 years ago it was a curb rescue but it went with most of my other collection years ago.

Philco units are fantastic as well!
Gorgeous
Nice sounds of this vintage ac
Sounds like the Copeland Scroll compressors that are used in many of the contemporary central AC condensing units!!!
It sounds good

At least Matsushita is Japanese rather than Chinese
@@SETX_Sirens_and_Rail_02 Japanese electronics are a little bit better especially the older ones.
I have a 6100 BTU unit from about 1984 which looks identical to the one in this video. Fan motor is by Westinghouse but the compressor is from Toshiba
How do you "redo" the EQK tag? I have a 1970s (i think) unit, and the EQK tag is almost unreadable.
Criqut machine. Wife makes them
@@TheAirConditionerGuy Ah. I knew it looked too good to be done by hand. I guess mine looks good enough then.
