I feel like no one wants to read the Caraval series and it makes me sad🤣 Like Caraval the book is defo not the best in the series but Legendary and Finale are fantastic and you gain such a better understanding of Jacks as a character which I think enhances the reading experience of Once Upon a Broken Heart so much more! Donatella is such a babe and it makes me sad that so many people aren’t getting the chance to know her :/

I read the Caraval series two years ago and it has always been my absolute favourite and Stephanie Garber is my favourite author, I’m halfway through Once Upon a Broken Heart and I’m loving it even more than Caraval which thoroughly surprised me but I could not be happier that I bought the second book prior!
I know you loved Evelyn Hugo and City of Girls, so if you’re looking for something similar I highly recommend The Show Girl by Nicola Harrison! It’s very glamorous and set in a similar time period. The main character is a talented dancer/singer and she does shows on stage. It’s super fun and there’s a love story involved. I think you would really like it! 🥰
literally the second I saw the City of Bones (and then Clockwork Angel) 10th anniversary editions at the shops I bought them, I couldn't walk away without it. It was my comfort series when I was younger, I still have a shelf dedicated to the shadowhunter-verse.

But if you didn't like the first book you probably won't like the rest. But it is from the POV of the sister But I believe you could like once upon a broken heart more, it's different and doesn't really have anything to do with caraval. That's my opinion! 😊😊💞

I originally read dance of thieves first and was confused but then I read the remnant chronicles and re-read dance of thieves and loved it more and understood it more!

I read dance of thieves dueology first, and then read the remnant chronicles after and totally wish I would have read TRC first! DoT takes place like 7-8 years after the events in TRC and some of the characters in TRC are in DoT and so if you like character focus books, it might hit a little harder in the feels. And it helps understand more so the light magic that is in it ☺️ hope that helps!

I would read The Remnant Chronicles first. I think you’ll enjoy Dance of Thieves and Vow of Thieves so much more if you do. Characters and places are referenced in the duology. It’ll make some of the scenes and people you meet so more joyful and exciting. I’m trying not to spoil anything, but it’ll make it so much better if you do. I was so happy when I got to parts in the duology because I knew places and characters from the OG trilogy.

as much as i loved loved the remnant chronicles, i know some people didn’t as much. the first book is interesting in that you don’t know which male character pov is who because it’s a bit of a love triangle where u genuinely don’t know which she’ll choose. but i’d say read dance of thieves duology first and if u love the world and the writing then to jump into the triology after because there’s so many connections you’ll realize after, but it’s not necessary! either way i hope you fall in love with dance of thieves :))

I wasn't very interested and then the further I dove into the series the more addicted I got! Once Upon a Broken Heart and the Ballad of Never After are my favorites of the bunch though!
If you want to read the other trilogy, I’ve heard that if you read the dance of thieves it will spoil some of the stuff that happens in that other book series!
I feel personally the Caraval series is honestly right up there with the Once Upon a Broken Heart series you might enjoy it more than you would believe!

You absolutely must read the Remnant Chronicles first! It became one of my all time favorite series EVER and the Dance of Thieves duology was the perfect continuation. You won't be completely lost if you don't read the trilogy first BUT there is a LOT of key information that will help make it a much more enjoyable read and a better appreciation for the world building that goes on :)
I have just finished the Caraval series and really loved it so I personally think it’s worth it to read it first. I’m about to jump into Once Upon a Broken Heart so I don’t know how much you NEED to read Caraval before but what I can say is that Jacks - who, I believe, is one of the main characters in OUABH - is introduced in Legendary and is also in Finale (from the Caraval series). I personally love having that backstory going in to the next series so maybe you do too. Also, I read the Remnant Chronicles before Dance of Thieves and, although I preferred DOC and I do think you can read it without reading the previous series, I think I might’ve been a bit lost in the world building and some characters’ backstories if I would’ve started with DOC. Hopefully that helps 😊

I read the remnant chronicles before the dance of thieves duology and I would say you definitely don't need to read the first trilogy to understand anything however it definitely makes for an more enjoyable reading experience and I would recommend it! Also This Woven Kingdom and These Infinite Threads are absolutely amazing! I just finished the second book and I'm obsessed. If you like Shatter Me, I think you'll also like her new series 😊
I don't think you need to read the trilogy before Dance of Thieves AT ALL! Dance of Thieves and Vow of Thieves are still to this day my #1 favorite book(s) of all time! I read The Remnant Chronicles after the duology, and I honestly didn't like them as much.
You don’t need to read the Kiss of Deception before Dance of Thieves but Dance of Thieves has some pretty big spoilers about the love triangle in the Kiss of Deception so if you are interested in reading the Kiss of Deception and don’t want those spoilers then you should read it before Dance of Thieves :)
Where did you get tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow with that cover? I have seen it in a couple of videos but no idea where to find it, the ones I have seen are not shiny like that.
So I personally think you *should* read Remnant Chronicles first. I was one of the ones who didn't know about the trilogy beforehand and when I read DOT everything about the world was going over my head because they talk about previous events that happened that I didn't know of (the only thing that kept me reading despite confusion was the romance, so if that's what you crave from the book then go for it 🙈🙈). Months later I found out about the trilogy, and when I went to reread DOT (bc I bought VOT) everything made sense, I knew some of the characters and why they are where they are and my experience was better. Also, there is spoilers about the events of the trilogy and some of characters show up So, this is my experience 🙈🙈 I personally loved the trilogy so I do recommend it, though perhaps you could just read the prequel *Morrighan* to know how the world & all the kingdoms came to be

I don't think you need to read the trilogy before Dance of Thieves AT ALL! Dance of Thieves and Vow of Thieves are still to this day my #1 favorite book(s) of all time! I read The Remnant Chronicles after the duology, and I honestly didn't like them as much.
You don’t need to read the Kiss of Deception before Dance of Thieves but Dance of Thieves has some pretty big spoilers about the love triangle in the Kiss of Deception so if you are interested in reading the Kiss of Deception and don’t want those spoilers then you should read it before Dance of Thieves :)

So I personally think you *should* read Remnant Chronicles first.
I was one of the ones who didn't know about the trilogy beforehand and when I read DOT everything about the world was going over my head because they talk about previous events that happened that I didn't know of (the only thing that kept me reading despite confusion was the romance, so if that's what you crave from the book then go for it 🙈🙈).
Months later I found out about the trilogy, and when I went to reread DOT (bc I bought VOT) everything made sense, I knew some of the characters and why they are where they are and my experience was better. Also, there is spoilers about the events of the trilogy and some of characters show up
So, this is my experience 🙈🙈 I personally loved the trilogy so I do recommend it, though perhaps you could just read the prequel *Morrighan* to know how the world & all the kingdoms came to be
